Does anyone else feel like they're a better programmer while high? I just looked at an old project that I did a year ago and I'm getting a code boner reading it, as if some other genius wrote it. I never see threads like this on Sup Forums, but I'm curious...

Personally I write awful code on weed. It seems great at the time, but I run it later and it's littered with little mistakes.

Don't have it any more unfortunately, but one was a drawing of a desert, and one was of my mom in the shower but it was pretty abstract.

No, I'm 31. I don't know where you're from, but I live in California and nearly everyone I know smokes weed therapeutically vs as a novelty. I don't smoke often, but have found that whatever I'm working on comes out better if I've decompressed after I do. I guess I'm a minority.

If you're looking at old projects and thinking anything other than disgust then you have not at all improved.
For me it's about 4-5 beers.
Not enough to distract your focus but the small things become less annoying like finger pain and cold feet on winter.
The problem is that weed, for some reason, gives me a massive boner and I do nothing else than watching porn for the next 2h.
Being just drunk enough got me through several difficult projects in school. Specifically a ray tracer and some fucking around with open gl.
One of these days I'm going to finally make time to take some shrooms and have a scheme programming environment walled off for me to explore my mind with. I know a guy who deleted /var/ while on LSD and don't trust myself with that. Only times I've tripped have not been conducive to programming although the first time I discovered the recursive nature of the universe and got trapped in a loop without a base case. I give it a 90% chance that I'll spit out gibberish but maybe it will be interesting.
