Why doesn't your ISP buckle under such heavy traffic?

there aren't many gigabit users here I guess

I recently added the speed option. Unsurprisingly internet was down for almost 2 days but that is ok since I get the full speed now.
The old 16/1 plan only managed to hit 11 down under optimal conditions.

It's great living in a student apartment. When I need to download larger files I just go to the University 5 mins away.

Hungary
500/200mbit unlimited
around ~20€ depending on exchange rates... it includes phone as well.

Could get 1gigabit but the upload is the same, so no point.

thanks romania for giving us Digi

literally the only good thing the country ever contributed to the world, though.

Living in the middle of nowhere fucking sucks.

News to me, had no idea. It's not like I checked though, I've been on a different ISP for a long time now.

United States

Sounds expensive but speeds are decent at least.

No, The Canadian Dollar is literally worthless.
That's per month, the fastest internet from my isp in my area is rated 15/1 mbps, btw unlimited is a $25 addon too . . .

Which ISP? Please tell me...

And for the record, Germany here with 400/20 for about 50€. Unlimited data.

Turkey is fucking disgusting. My state:
>16MBit Max (Traffic shaping is a thing in Turkey. After you pass the 50GB limit, your speed falls to 3MBit. Thank God about that, it was 1MBit 5 years ago. Community makes a difference, hah.)
>20$ around
>Unlimited (Does traffic shaping count?)
Istanbul:
>100MBit Fiber
>20$
I'll move to Swe-something motherfuckers. I hear their country is good.
>turkey
>politics

When they first turned up, they offered so good speeds for so cheap that I thought it was a scam. It was insane. They gave you speeds as high as the most expensive consumer connection offered by any ISP in the country, but with symmetrical upload, and 1/10th the price.

Yeah, can't complain, the only other option is a capped 12/5 that goes down for days and weeks at a time at the very sight of snow

Belgium
200 Mbps
70 €
Unlimited but speedcap after ~ 400 gigs

Nope I'm right in town, we get gouges in my province because we only have two providers in urban areas and they can impose whatever price they want because we have no other options

In Romania when they first started getting big I still had 56k dialup. I remember they had 256k cable back then and it felt like a godsend, then they kept upgrading and upgrading (for free) until one point a few years later when they just switched to fiber and I was simply blown away by seeing the magic >1MB/s download speed.

When they were new the waiting list for getting hooked up was literally months too, they were so busy it was crazy.

Hopefully they're getting rid of that stupid bullshit throttle though.
We're also pirates. If you type mirror's edge catalyst into Google first suggestion is "full download".

>1 TB of data
>100mbps

Not him but I don't get what you're saying. Going by my router's traffic history I go through ~1.3TB each month and I've got a gigabit connection.

Holy shit I just realised how backwards my country is..

Australia
10 down/1 up mbps
1TB data per month.
ADSL2+

150 kangaroo buckeroos a month.

USA
75 mbps
$100

Comcast is fucking shit, gonna remove my Unlimited internet soon, so my internet can drop to $70.
Some of you are so lucky to have cheap high speed internet.

>finland
>100/8

>my country makes me think this is cheap, but in reality, they just rape me via tax dollars instead, so I feel good about this.

Its cable and we can only go with the one isp. Too far from exchange for adsl2+. Theres another provider that offers unlimited over the same sorta service (hfc) but their lines dont go out as far and the isp wont lease their lines to competitors to provide their service.

If you have access to hfc you can get 100/2.5 with 1tb of data for literally cheaper ($110 a month as a worst case with no discounts).

Holy fucking shit, where do you live?

With Vodafone Fibra I'm going at 500/40

Just for keks, how do I find out how much data do I use daily? Do I have to download a program or is it tracked somewhere? The settings page of my router (Vodafone Station) isn't telling me shit

This is what I'm on, but only 500GB a month. First ~$90.
I regularly get 110mbos download, which is nice, but 2.5mbps upload is horrible. I wish I had at least 10 or 20. Streaming shit from my Plex server is painful.

What state?

>New Zealand

>49 US Bux

Canada
$60/month (part of a $100 bundle but $40 goes to TV)

Other Canadians who have shit internet and pay through the nose either live in the middle of nowhere or are too retarded to get internet at a better price.

Has anyone ever heard of LTE broadband? My parents and young siblings are stuck in rural Ireland with awful 1 Mb connection they're paying €40 a month. Some sales dude offered them 70 Mb speeds for the same price using LTE Fibre which I've never heard of. It seems to be some sort of wireless set up since their phone lines are decript in the country side.

It's just a connection provided over the LTE network.

It doesn't seem to be the usual 4G LTE though, I've never seen a service able to deliver more than maybe 15Mb/s over 4G. I don't trust the 50 to 70 they're promising.

oh rly? tell me the name of your ISP

Highest speed in my country is 10/0.75, which costs around 8000 BsF (~$7) in CANTV (state owned and around 15000 BsF (~$13) in Inter (private), most people earn minimum wage which is around $30 combining everything

Telecoms have power in Canada like Oil conglomerates do in the US.

They overcharge several magnitudes too much and any attempts to regulate them are put down by the government they pay off.
