>old one's capped
no it isn't

oh well

in for memes

eugh please tell me those caps are temporary

I'll call and raise you one meme.

they are

i really love the look of the preonic, but i could never type on otholinear consistently.

i'll still probably get a planck to use for while traveling next time they drop with the wood inserts.

Niggers

Is this mechanical? And can it be used?

alright so i just replaced the switches in my keyboard and all of the keys work perfectly except for backspace

when i press backspace it presses
backspace
\
home
delete
end
pgdn
pgup
and all of the arrow keys

what the fuck do i do?

here are my options

buy a corsair k70 with blue or reds or browns
buy cm quickfire browns only
buy some god knows what brands with any switch and way cheaper

please no racial slurs

see if you accidentally connected any lines on the PCB

reflow the solder on the backspace, then take it out all together if still no luck

>Is this mechanical?
it has green linear alps

>And can it be used?
with a new controller

I would like to buy model M in Poland and I am pretty clueless. Is it that much meme keyboard? Personally, I find the layout of the keyboard to be great and I used to work on various "clones" with such designs.

Questions:
- It is quite a challenge to find English-layout keyboard in Polish auctions / craigslist-like sites. Any fellow anons from Poland has some own experiences with obtaining it?
- What is the price I should not cross? I am looking for prices and they are very different. For instance on UK site there is 100 pounds, while on US amazon its 100 dollars.
- I guess the shipping is part I need to simply deal with it.

Just buy one and spend whatever it takes on one. They're better than the rest of the junk posted here.

yeah i had to mcgyver one of the switches and that must have been what fucked it up

ill do that shit later thanks for the help man

how are reds? should i get them as first switch? Blues seem too loud/annoying. Browns are universally shit. The rest seem have high actuation force which is probably bad for video games.

heavy switches are only bad for games if you have baby fingers

I do thanks for noticing.

then get reds

Got this one today, has blue switches and sounds pretty nice

Who /comicsans/ here?

It's a pain in the ass to get one in Western Europe too.

anyone heard of brand genesis? should I get genesis rx75 that for cheaper with blacks or a corsair k70 with reds?

no they're not.

model ms are overrated memes.

My grail keyboard is the Dino with alps.
I'm undecided as to how much I like it. Planck comes with aluminum shell bottom instead of the steel plate/wood sides afaik. Mine came with a nice carrying case, I assume the Planck does too

>ortholinear layout

damn who knew babies were so pro

Could You elaborate more?

They're by far superior to the disgusting 60% memeboards posted here.

50%>40%>model m>80%>60%

The last Planck drop before this one used wood inserts between the stainless plates.

I really hope they bring this back

Lol no.

is it white clone alps?

Is this a good keyboard?

Aww gee, I'm pretty sure that it will fit some obscure optic wise use cases.

I had this kb for a few months.
Holds up fine so far and pretty gud to type on.

test

test no image

There is less than a week left in July.

cherry ML switches
some like them some don't
if it's less than 15$ get it

>big and clunky unless you pay crazy for the ssk
>obnoxious amounts of ping
>dat 2kro

they're fine, literally typing on one right now, but they're not the end all by far. buckling springs aren't objectively the best switch type, and i don't care how "well built" these are, when was the last time you broke a keyboard?

>obnoxious amounts of ping
delicious*

I'd also like to buy a model m
I like the clunky look and loud sound
I'm only worried about linux drivers

Get a unicomp

One of the new ones?
They're a bit pricey compared to some on ebay
I really don't have a lot of money

You can find them on eBay too. New USB ones are $85 and don't require adapters or have issues.
Plus it pays the people who are still making buckling springs instead of randoms. Search thrift stores for model Ms, alternatively

>model ms are overrated memes.

You're a meme

You don't really need to worry about drivers.

that's what i figured but you never know
I have $56 and found some on ebay that fit that budget, though they might need a cleaning but that's free
I already have an adapter as well

>not even white square

if you're gonna be a meme at least do it properly

make sure it's a ps/2 board and not a terminal board otherwise you're going to need an adapter you probably don't have

>about Model M
Some of them are manufactured by Lexmark. Any technical difference?

yeah the ones i'm looking at aren't
the terminal boards are fucking big anyways. all those extra function keys and shit

are you referring to your keyboards as niggers due to them being a darker shade than they should or us as the niggers for not being stupid enough to overpay for outdated technology

lol just realized my adapter is usb to ps/2
fuck me

My keyboards are my niggers
The 1986 model ms are the best feeling. The rest are basically identical.

I've heard that some of the Lexmark ones are lower quality but idk
They should function the same just google the model number

>tfw not only comfy, but cozy as well

Some of the later Lexmarks had permanently attached cables but the internals were mostly the same. The decent Lexmarks were just as good, they got bad rep for also producing quiet versions (greased spring and rubber domes) but as long as you look up the model number and it checks out as buckling spring you're good to go

I also got one recently, but do you feel like the enter key feels a bit off?

Anyway, according to prices and shipping, that will be up to 200$ to spend (100$ keyboard, 100$ shipping).

Do Kahil Red switches have very low resistance like Cherry MX red switches?

nice "csE" key user

thanks user

i payed $260 for it from reddit. it's a really rare artisan keycap.

just buy a quickfire if you really have to

Is there a way to fix the numberpad on my Model M?

buy an ssk

what do you mean with "fix the numpad"?

does it not work? or do you wanna remove it?

maybe he wants to make sure it doesn't breed

hi i never posted in thread like this
so i wanted ask
can i replace my razer blackwidow( the first one) keycaps with something more swag?

the blackwidow's bottom row is non standard so most keycap sets won't fill it completely

as long as the set is mx switch compatible they will work besides that

but you should sell your blackwidow and buy something at least decent anyway

no one want this old crap hahahah

you could get some money for it atleast im sure like 40$ probably

I just bought a KB v60 and the key binds are weird. I see there's settings switches on the back of it, but there's no markings as to what they are. I got it used so there was no manual. Does anyone have a link that could help me out?

--- or take a picture of your manual?

rabbitwebfactory.com/pages/v60

How about save like 30 extra bucks and buy a ducky

link to where you can buy a ducky for 40$?? :+)

or this

Can someone help me find a keyset for my quickfire rapid (ten keyless) for under ~$30

this is what i use on mine

Just copped

How did I do /mkg/?

Anyone have a review of Gateron Browns?

I'm mainly concerned with longer term functionality - are they known for not breaking down over extended use?

they haven't been around long enough for extended use to be a thing

i don't think anyone's ever reported serious switch breaking though. the only build issue with gaterons seems to be that they wobble a bit more than cherry switches.

they should outlive you, and will last much longer than the rest of the board unless you fuck them up

Depends on what's broken. If it's the circuit membrane, you're kinda screwed. If it's the switch, should be kinda simple.

If you need help with what to do, go search for "Care and Feeding of an IBM Model M"

How long have they been around? If I can get 5-10 years I won't complain much.

Haven't had a cherry fail on me yet - but I'm creepin over 100m keystrokes across two boards so far.

>buy cyan leds
>arrive
>they are green
>take picture
>cyan in every picture

Fug

you colorblind senpai

moderate/major deutan

Why would a jpg cure my colorblindness?

Took this for /k/

Don't get me wrong, the Model M is a classic and a fine KB. But for my money, I'd rather have a Unicomp. Brand new, takes up less space than an original one, and made in America.

First keyboard I ever bought arrived today. Hope it was worth it.

Is 115$ a good price for a quic fire rapid-i Blue switch model

Not really, they usually go for around 70-80 bucks

ugly

>see those shit keycaps
>already know its a filco
i hope you bought that board because it was cheaper than the other ones and you plan to replace the keycaps

I can't fucking decide
Either I'm going with a 80€ Corsair K65 or a CM Storm Novatouch for around double the price.
I've had reds before and really liked them but after looking up sound comparisons on youtube Topre switches just seem to have such an incredibly premium feel that's just worth experiencing, even for such a high price.
What's it gonna be Sup Forums

What the fuck? They cost around 150$ in Germany...

Oh, you're in Europe.

I just gave up on ISO and started importing my shit from wherever with my second keyboard.

Certainly not the corshit.

Germany is a shithole when it comes to mechanical keyboards, fellow germanfag.
Müssen es denn unbedingt blue switches sein? Gibt nämlich das K65 von Corsair für 80€, super Verarbeitung und meiner Meinung nach sehr vernünftig designt, hat allerdings red switches.
