How hard is it to set up a private email server? I want to be like the rich people.

So my PVM's manual says it supports component Y/R-Y/B-Y or RGB, but when I use it with my PlayStation 2 only Y/Pb/Pr works, when I set it to RGB the colors and picture glitch out badly. Anyone know what's up?

I just set up mpc with a ton of extra things like svp, madvr, etc for the first time.
I went for full performance and I noticed my parts were hitting some relatively high temps (CPU around 70 C and GPU around 80 C).
Are those temperatures high enough to damage the parts or is it alright?

Why the fuck does OS X naively support the DualShock 4, but Windows doesn't??

These files are all on the disc that came with my motherboard. My new computer doesn't have an optical drive. Can I simply copy and paste these files onto a flash drive and use that for my new computer? Will I be prompted to run something when I stick the flash drive in my new computer, or will I have to manually select something from within the flash drive?

To clarify, the motherboard is for my new computer. The screenshot was taken on another computer.

I would just download the latest drivers from the manufacturer website.

Maybe because apple doesn't compete against the playstation

I'm going to be installing arch on a laptop with a SSD. For the most part is installing arch on a SSD just like installing it on a HDD? also is there anything important that I should be aware about?

>Hillary spotted

thank yoi

my dv7 is dying. HP hardware a shit.

On a budget atm. I'm looking to get a refurbished thinkpad and just fill the guts with ram/hdd I already have.

Battery life, weight, and screen reso are specs I care about.

What do you think about the T420? Found one for $350 w/ i7 dual core.

Go for it

Would it be wise to upgrade to a 6700k 1151 platform now for gaming or is the next architecture and flagship going to overwhelm the 6700k by a huge margin?

my current motherboard has lots of issues (gigabyte) and i thought if i need to replace it might aswell get a new socket and CPU

Using FFmpeg (or Handbrake) to convert videos, will Linux distros convert faster than Windows? From what I've heard, Linux > Windows in speed until GPUs get involved.

I've got got a Thinkpad W510 hooked up to an external GPU which is hooked up to a monitor. Is there any way I can use the monitor and the laptop's screen at the same time?

It doesn't seem like anything even detects the laptop's screen at all when I'm using the external GPU. Is my only option some sort of hardware wizardry?

You haven't stated what you are currently running.

The 6700k is a shit, not worth the money, get a 4790k.

Windows probably will win in the GPU area.

I'd do some googling/YouTubing, you should be able to use both at the same time.

>Have 8GB of ram.
>Idle using 3GB or so.
>Upgrade to 16GB of ram.
>Idle at almost 6GB.

what the fuck

file caching

i'm using a 4670k, but with a problematic mobo that i need to replace (past warranty)

This.
Unused ram is wasted ram anyway.

Every Youtube video I've seen so far seems to only display anything on the monitor the GPU is connected to.

That's why I feel like the only way to actually use the laptop screen would be to somehow hook the GPU up to it directly, which probably isn't worth the trouble.

The laptop's screen stays on and everything though. It's just black and nothing seems to know it exists.

Could you guys reccomend me a program for messaging from PC to smartphones that doesn't require syncing to your own smartphone? Gonna need something to chat with a tech-illiterate friend since I'm selling my cell hastily.

depends if you can get your friends to install a new app and make an account for it

skype and qq both suit your needs

I went to go upload it to mega for you and found that it was already in there from a few months ago

mega.nz/#!j1Y3TLaL!eJBjJN5DNBtr262zLxSjGYbtST9RqssD9Nt3IU6hXB4

I hope it's legit because it's what I used.

alternatively, install genymotion on your computer and emulate android + whatever mobile chat program you use (whatsapp, snapchat, etc)

So I've been using quickpic for a few months until I found that they installed a sdk of there bullshit cleaner thing. How do I get rid off it? Rooting the device? USB debugging

telegram, but the only people who use it are normies and furries.

facebook also works.

I'm buying a new PC soon and I'm wondering what components should I focus on for Photoshop, Illustrator, and AfterEffects? I know I can't live without an SSD, but how strong of a graphics card do I need? Do I need one at all? Optimal amount of RAM? i5 or i7? etc

Lots of RAM, probably 16GB and a good CPU

Photoshop has some GPU acceleration but it isn't as important.

Air 240 or Node 804?
Got a H100i, SSD, 3.5 HDD, GTX 780 and RM850

I already have Malwarebytes (free) and uBlock Origin, will I still be safe if I uninstall Windows Defender on W10?

https everywhere and umatrix

thanks

I went into
>Best Buy
to try out some cheap laptops and I came across this Acer Chromebook 14. Apparently it's on sale and it's the lowest price I could find. Should I hop on this deal?

Are there any australian companies that make gpus or other pc components?

> 32 GB eMMC
No, no and no.
Search for a model with an HDD, at least.

I don't really need a ton of storage. I've already got a desktop I can transfer things to and from.

It's a shitty eMMC flash and you can't add anything to it. You barely can fit a real OS into it.

It's pretty much exclusively asian companies.

Nearly noob with Linux, only used Ubuntu at campus and VM.
Want to ideally ditch Windows.

Currently I am deciding between Debian and Arch

Some suggestions?

Debian if you don't know what you're doing. If you fuck up something major and you have your install key, it's just a matter of smashing enter a few times and you're back up and running with a fresh install.

Didn't manage to find an answer yesterday;

I'm having issues with Radeon Settings.exe and I'm getting an error; 'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)'

I have searched online and tried these fixes that came up so far;

>Clean uninstall and reinstall
>Updated .Net framework AND repaired .Net + 2013 C++
>Used Dependency Walker to repair and install missing DLLs

After this I'm still getting the error, can anyone help me with this?

Easy.

Kinda, lower is better.
Did you use HW decoder?

Yes.

Can I force certain program to use certain core of my CPU?

I mean, if I have some CPU heavy program and 4 or 8 core CPU, could I run, say, 3 instances of it and assign each to different cores?

>The 6700k is a shit, not worth the money, get a 4790k.

Not him, but the cost of 4790k is not much lower (at least in my case) and motherboards for it use only DDR3 RAM, while ones with 1151 socket (Skylake) uses DDR4 RAM.

If he is about to buy new motherboard, it doesnt make a sense for him to limit himself with old technology.

Is there an adapter for this SSD?
mz-ntd1280/000

I need it to become an mSATA so that I can connect it to my Maximus Gene V mPCIe combo thing.

I'm so confused by all these specifications and shit. I found this:
ebay.com/itm/M-2-NGFF-SSD-to-Mini-PCI-E-mSATA-Adapter-Card-Replacement-Converter-Wholesale-/311426925853?hash=item48827dc51d:g:XywAAOSwUV9WpyJR

But when I read this part:
>About Mini PCIe SSD interface standard:

I become dizzy and want to puke.

Which is lighter in terms of RAM usage in idle, W10 or W7? Assuming we have trimmed all those useless services at msconfig.

Also does W10 boots faster or the difference isn't that much?

Unless you wrote the program, no.

What's the best version of Windows 7 or 8 to install these days on an older computer.

Is there anything similar to what Windows XP black edition was a few years back?

So, if I would run few instances, they would all clog into single core?

What's the pokemon GO bot name? And where can i download it?

I heard you could download a bot and android emulator on computer and get up heaps of levels

Thinking of paying for github £7 a month isn't a lot plus it means all my friends don't need to make accounts on gitlab or bitbucket to work on private repos with me
anyone here pay for github? If so what are your opinions on it

Try task manager and set affinity, should limit which cores they can use

anyone have input on endbranch and if will actually stop rop gadgets or will rop gadgets be made from bitstreams that start with endbranch?

You mean windows chock full of preloaded malware? Sure! Pull up a torrent and get comfy

How can I make it better, or should I makes changes, $2.8kAUD is pretty much my budget (Not including monitor)

Get DDR4-2400

Changed, thanks

512 GB might be a little small for gaymen. You sure you don't want to throw in a HDD?

Hey, I just got a 144hz monitor, but when i plug the DVI-D cable into my gpu's DVI-I slot, but I can't choose 144hz, it only displays 60hz max, any idea on how to fix it? Thanks

What monitor? It may not support 144hz through DVI
Otherwise make a custom monitor profile, I know nvidia control panel will do that and I think AMD does too
You can also use custom resolution utility

Ditch the 512 ssd and get a 256gb 850 evo
Grab a 2/3/4TB hdd and store your games on it use the ssd for your system and programs you install on it, there is little gain in most games that will utilize an ssd

DVI does not support 144mhz

I'm not sure about the Acer 14 but with the C720 you could replace the flash storage. I upgraded mine from 32GB to 128GB. I know that's not much space but it's something. The whole point of Chromebooks anyway is to join the cloud botnet.

Finished reading a book on c++. I want to dive deeper into the language, for example i don't know how to use vectors or lists. What should i read now?

i5 is meh in such class build, with that budget I would do the following

- scrap heatsink completely for now, that means extra $150
- drop from gtx1080 to gtx1070 - extra $420

now I would drop i5 and would take i7-5820k with 6 real cores and 12 threads.
faggots will tell you its overkill, but comes zen everyone will have 6/8 cores with 12/16 threads, all the consoles are 8 cores.. it does play its role

you will need mobo change for 2011-v3 socket as well, could cost ya extara $50-$100, it still uses DDR4, which should be at least 2666MHz btw, above that the benefits drop

after this huge core change, you can come back again

DVI can run at a pixel clock of around 460mhz
1080p 144hz only requires about 320mhz

>take gaming focused build
>turn it into a workstation
great advice

Is there any way to make handbrake convert an mp4 file to a wav file and basically remove the video?

its still an extremely serious gaming build
dont be jelly just because you have 4 cores with no multithreading

this is not 2013 anymore, games make use of many cores and multithreading. Again, every single console stands on 8 cores, well major console, not sure about Nintendo

just use ffmpeg
ffmpeg -i gayporn.mp4 gayporn.wav

Scrap the heatsink, keep the 1080, consider an i7 but screw the 6 core meme. Would get a smaller ssd and a hard drive. Practically speaking the memory you choose wont have much of a real world impact

just use ffmpeg

Is there a way to add a bunch of torrents as magnet links to a text file then some torrent client just opens the file and starts downloading the magnets it finds? Some user intervention would be okay

The problem is that you're getting worse gaming performance by dropping the 1080 for a 1070
The 6600k isn't going to be bottlenecked by 90% of games.

make a script to do it for you

you do realize the difference between 4 core i7 unlocked and 6 core i7 5820k is just $100 australian dollars

Its absolutely worthy you stupid fucks to get those extra 2 cores!

but he will change the card sooner than changing the cpu
consider how poorly compares gtx780 and gtx980 to modern cards
that will happen in 2 years too

gtx1070 is enough to drive games, but value he gets from extra cores and threads in the future will be substantial

lets not forget about better overclockers, no stupid low quality thermal paste, no bending cpu with weight of a heatsink, mobo with better pcie lines for sli if interested...

i5 is enough for most, but seeing it in this level of build is kinda bleh
especially when price difference for those extra cores is so small

bump

Is NixOS any good, or is it just 'DevOps' hype?

I swear you're just one guy lurking on all of the threads so he can spread the gospel of 6 cores. Just become a tripfag already so we can tune you out easier. 6 cores is for workstations. I get why you think it's for games, why you think there's been some great revolution in the last year. But the amount of games optimized to use 6 cores is minimal. It's not what people are expected to have, it's just some weird stopgap in the evolution of processing. And quit trying to claim that consoles have anything to do with it. It's a whole different ballgame when your entire user base has the exact same processor. Their optimization is wildly different from PC games

nox

Some guy was gonna sell be a 1tb SSD for cheap, but yes I'll add a HDD if the deal doesn't come through

>its just 100 more for the 4 core i7
>its just another 100 more for the 6 core i7
>oh and I almost forgot its 100 more for the motherboard that supports the 6 core i7
>oh and did I mention that the 6 core will have worse performance in many games too?

Sorry but you are exceptionally retarded if you think that games are coded like that, to special hardware in some strange way optimized.
What they can split to more processes they split, its exceptionally hard to code like that, parallel processing, but we are getting there.

Anyway game studios buy engine, engine is coded for huge variety of hardware, theres some underlying more to the hardware api now that makes absolutely irrelevant if it runs on AMD 8 core on playstation 4, xbox one or on fx 8350.

If you ever stopped saying that i7 provides no benefit over i5 (a popular idea few years back because it was mostly true), then if you understand how hyper threading works you are saying that real 6 cores also provide benefit.

I know theres always this adaptation period, retards will have hard time to ever acknowledge change in the world they come to be accustom to. Its threatening to them, they see themselves as having knowledge, and suddenly some new knowledge came, for some strange reason and it did not come from them, and its scary.

Stop being a retard jus because you went for 4 cores in 2016
Games use many cores now, especially many players multiplayers one
People record and encode on the gpu, but also stream their game, theres lots to do with more cores

Anyone taken the current version of CompTIA Network+? at the moment, I rented out a Mike Myers book and studying it alongside the free professor messer videos for review.

What I want to know is that just how in depth are the questions for the new tests? I took my A+ way back during 701-702 when it was sorta easier, but the test are now harder then before. Would I be able to get away with it with a month of studying at 3-4 hours a day?

How is Google doing backups in it's data centers in case of ocational drive failure? RAID?

he is buying mobo for $368.00
here is LGA2011-v3 for $375

yes
but you should learn the difference between raid and backup
for example google is good for learning about things

What kind of hardware do I need to support a QHD (2,560 x 1,440) display?

I am trying to build a mini PC

Can I build a mini PC with 8GB of RAM and a passable processor and that can handle a QHD display with around 300 bucks? (not including the price of the monitor and other peripherals)

I just want to play Overwatch at optimal settings.

im planning to build a pc. Yesterday as ive double checked if everything is allright i run into something. The case ive chosen have 3 default fans, the manufactures only states them as "regular" 120mm, two in the front and 1 in the back. The mothetboard ive chocen however have only two 3pin and two DWM slot. is it possible and alright to connect one of the case's fans into one dwm? what is your opinions? is this even a problem?

Is it worth investing in premium case, psu, motherboard (things you aren't liekly to replace without switching whole platform) and buy worse parts you plan to replace later anyway?

Example: I want to buy gtx1060 with an i3, with intention of replacing them later with an i7 and 1080ti when it comes out. Should I get something like gtx950/60 and g4400 instead, but put extra money in quality psu/case and mb?
