I don't think I've ever used more than 8GiB.

Feels good being above the curve permamently

So how much RAM should I get these days anyway?

I see these "tfw fell for RAM meme" everyday and I just don't know anymore.

>falling for RAM meme

More is literally always better, so as much as you can reasonably afford.

For casual/gaming use, 8gb should be enough.
Anything more, and bump it to 16 or even higher. Hell, I managed to deplete my 16gb once on heavy multitasking

16gb is normal on "high spec" gaymur systems.

how am i supposed to pick a cpu when every option is a meme

Tfw get me out of this computer simulation life is a meme

Just "fall for a meme" then. It's supposed to be some kind of insult. Are you going to let user peer pressure you into not getting things because they're a meme?

This "meme is an insult" meme is the worst.

I depleted 24GB once. Blame our college's VMware class. "okay guys, here's your assignment: setup a full vCenter demo at home. Base requirements : fail-over and san or nas storage."

=> two ESXi, two windows servers, one/two freenas, one endian/pfsense. Oh, and vCenter on windows server requires at least 8GB of ram.

> not going dual Xeon CPUs on a server board for light web-browsing and shitposting
Come on user, don't you wanna future-proof your PC?

if youre a" one application running kind of guy" you wont use more than 8gb if youre a "I must open everything or I will lose" 16 and beyond

I never go past 4GiB of RAM.

Next gen titles will be more ram hungry, considering actual ones need 8gb at minimum/recommended. Remember cod ghosts when it would refuse to run on 4gb rigs and then a crack was released that fixed that (not even a patch, fucking kikes). If you're not a gamer, 4 gb is more than fine, i wouldnt go lower than this because it will slow down applications a lot

i5 is the right one

Really?
cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html

4 GB is bare minimum.

8 is ideal.

16 is great.

32 is overkill.

cant wait to fell for 16 Gib meme
i have 8 atm

12

Modern browsers/websites eat literally gigabytes of RAM. 8GB is not enough. 16GB is enough. 32GB is more than anyone could ever need.
