I turned off my display on Windows - just the display, computer was still on and not sleeping. I left and got back and just pushed keys trying to get my PC to wake up because I thought I put it to sleep.

Now all my title bars and menus have incredibly big fonts. What happened and how to fix?

Control Panel > Display

Check the font size of the title bars. Default is 9.

When I start Bash on Ubuntu on Windows now all I get is a blank window with a flashing cursor. Whyyyyyy?

which firefox themes do you guys use? i don't want any meme/anime bullshit.

Fixxed it. Thanks m8. How could I have managed to change that just pushing keys though?

Default

I dunno man. There must be some keyboard shortcut for it and you got it.

Blue Gradient at the moment. Previously Black Shine.

Alright, whatevs. Thanks anyway m8.

What's the cheapest laptop I can get in Australia that can do all this:

>run Arch GNU/Linux
>not die from hardware issues (for at least 5 years)
>last at least 5 hours on battery

Bigger hard drive and 2-4 GB RAM preferred

That's like any netbook now-a-days.

yeah but which one costs the least

How the fuck do you people say that wine + playonlinux works?
I'm currently dual booting windows 10 (for muh games) and antergos for everything else. Someone told me to check out wine and if I can run my games through that I won't need windows at all.
Well it turns out that wine won't work on programs that are on different drives than the one Linux is installed on.
I have a 240gb ssd that I have partitioned in half for Linux, and my games are all stored on a 1 tb hybrid drive.
Am I just missing something here or is there actually no way for me to run those games through wine?

I don't update as frequently anymore because it breaks more things than it helps so I use an old version with FT DeepDark. Pretty cool and elegant.

What's the best android app player for windows or linux at the moment? I wanna play some Android games on my computer.

I've heard it's Bluestacks or Nox, but, both kind of concern me. The former cause I read it apparently wants me to install its shitty app of the day type of thing if I don't fork up cash for it and I can't really find anything on Nox either. So I'm just curious if someone could point me in the right direction, or tell me more about the two I mentioned here. Thanks.

Moko dark or whatever called.
The guy has several themes for different websites and I'd you use them it makes browsing look much more aesthetic.

As soon as I figure out how to rice Linux I'm going to model that after his theme also.

Should i put 8 GB ram and an SSD in my old ASUS U31f for $54, or just buy a new laptop?

Unless the ram is under 4gb, the CPU is probably going to be the biggest bottleneck.
If it has a decent CPU then just go for the ram and ssd.

Ram is 4 GB, cpu is some i5 480m i think

You should be happy with an ssd in that, assuming you don't want to do a hell of a lot more than browsing/movie watching/typing. Wouldn't bother with the ram

I think you should go for both the ssd and ram upgrades if you play any games on that laptop. If not, just monitor your ram usage for a bit and if it isn't going above 3.5 then skip out on the memory.
You will definitely enjoy the ssd though.

Thing is its my uni laptop, so ill be running a bit of matlab at least off it, and the ram is $27 a stick

I've never really used Matlab, so I can't comment on its performance.
Like I said before though, just use your laptop and monitor the ram usage. If it never gets close to 4 then don't bother upgrading, otherwise go ahead.

K, thanks for the help

How exactly do files depreciate? They remain the same over time, don't they? Is it that we keep moving our technology in a way that doesn't care for compatability of older things, or is that something completely unrelated?

I bought an at2020 and like an idiot I didn't buy the USB version.

So if I bought a phantom power unit to connect the microphone via a XLR M to F and a F to 3.5mm, can I plug it into my front panel 3.5mm microphone port? Or only into an audio card?

What do you mean? Formats and standards? If so then yes kinda what you say but compatibility is always a big deal though sometimes not worth the hassle.

Shit

This just popped up. Been cracked for almost two years know and no problems

halp

You can move the virtual drive or use symbolic links

Thanks for the link. I'll look into this when I've got some more time.

Can you even get a virus from just clicking a link or visting a page

Or do need to install like you do with most programs

You can, it's called a driveby. Most of the time they use javascript/java/flash to install malware to your computer

I recently got an Oppo R9, I love it. I recently took a photo with it and upon transferring it to my pc I realized the exif is all saved, anyone know how I can disable it in the camera settings?

Are there any dangers of putting a Type A plug into a Type B socket on a transformer (230v to 100v)?

yesterday it was working fine.today i boot it up and all i get is this.tried hard drive check too will poat pic.

...

looks like you don't have an operating system and you should visit hp.com/go/techcenter/startup

it was working yesterday, could it be a virus?

if i install a new operating system wont i lose all my files?

I'm trying to get into Linux ricing and I need some help getting into it.
I heard that I need a wm to rice the borders of the windows. What's a good one for a beginner?
I've heard of awesome and compiz. Are any of these worth using?

Is it possible to run a search in Everything straight from the command line or a shortcut? (ie. it will launch and immediately run the search)

>inb4 he deleted sys32

What's a good, safe VPN?

FT Deepdark. Gives a dark Firefox theme that doesn't look like dogshit and supports a lot of plugins.

Could be any number of things. All we know is that it's not finding a windows install. Very possibly the boot files are just messed up. What you need is either a windows 7 install disk or some sort of repair utility. If you don't have a copy of 7, I reccomend making a recovery disk with macrium reflect on another computer and booting to that.

I have a jailbroken iPhone running 9.3.3

I can download the Fortune Sup Forums client's free version and it runs fine, but Cydia refuses to let me download the paid version, saying it's not compatible for my system.

Did the creator just decide to update the free version and not the paid version? What gives? I just want to get rid of the ads ;_;

no i didnt man.

Depends on what you're using it for. For torrents almost any paid VPN will work. For other things it's really about how much you trust an entity who you'll never meet and who probably doesn't have to report to anyone. There are lists every year or so of the most recommended ones. Never use free. Just don't do it.

Back when HTML5 video was kinda new in Firefox, Firefox sometimes refused to go fullscreen completely. It put the video as big as the webpage was, you had to press F11 to make it fullscreen manually.
I hated that, now I want that back, as I have a tiling wm now. Having to manually zoom in or our the streaming page is unnecessary when I basically could have back that old fullscreen mode.

Anyone know how to get it back?

tl;dr I want the broken fullscreen mode for html5 video in FF back

>temp

i have a porn folder of the same name

dont worry, got it

Holy crap. You two are pervy soulmates!

I don't know if it'll help, but you can try to download fortune from the insanelyi repo. I'm running ios8 and I installed fortune from that repo. It looks like the tweak is updated to support ios9. Alternatively, you can try to get in contact with the dev if you've already paid for the tweak and they may be able to help.

if you had to choose between samsung s7 (not the edge), one plus 3, lg g4 (just a great price) and iphone 6s, which phone would you choose?

main focus on camera, battery, durability and network compatibility

Thanks!

I'll give it a go. Thanks!

So I have a fx-8320 and I'm not sure if I should upgrade to a i5/i7 skylake or wait for Zen.

Or if it's even worth upgrading at all

what was the
get?

I'm a huge cuck for Apple, but I'd say wait another month and buy an iPhone 7 when it comes out. If you bought an 6s now you'd be kicking yourself this time next month. I'm probably gonna get one, my iPhone 5s is starting to show its age...

If you really like android, I've heard great things about all three of those phones. Oneplus is a cool company, and if you're buying out of contract it's probably your cheapest option.

The G4 was the weak one in it's lineup. A lot of people didn't like it. G3 was great except for the battery life. Haven't tried the G5 but I hear it's the tits

Found a 50 inch 1080i Sony projection TV on the side of the road and got it working, has good colors and everything.

How much do you figure I can sell this bastard for?

Kill yourself, nobody wants a projection tv, you'll get $20 tops

I dunno m8

You find them all and buy one with lowest price...huh what a science

T420 for 13 inch screen, X220 for 11inch.

There's a couple different ways. Over a long period of time the electron spin that holds the data on your HDD decays and the data is lost. Most of the time the firmware on the drive can predict and recover the data but if a HDD is off for 10+ years you can expect the data to be corrupted. The data on SSDs is much more volatile, taking only a couple years of not powering on to be lost.

I use AirVPN and they've been alright, though their software is a little on the buggy side. NordVPN is pretty good as well.

If you HAVE to get one of those phones I'd either go OP3 or S7. Otherwise visit /csg/ and get a redmeme.

I want to get into computer engineering and robotics engineering. Where would I start?

college

thank based user so helpful :^)

>using the smiley with a carat nose

that looks like the exact same tv my mum had and she just moved out and presumably threw it away. do you live in QLD mate?

I have a desktop with a 2 TB hard drive and a 128 G ssd that runs Windows 7 and it's mostly for gaymes but also schoolwork. Along with this I have my ThinkPad that is running arch at the moment. I'm looking for an external hard drive and I don't know what size. I'd really just be backing up schoolwork and my linux partitions.

I've been trying to remux some raw Blu-ray BDMV's into MKV files. This usually works out, but sometimes all the episodes of an anime will be put into one .m2ts container or the playlist read by MKVToolnix's GUI will cat them into a big stream. I'm just not sure what I should do to separate anything, since I can't get MKVToolnix to split by chapter unless I build my own chapter file.

Is it a bad idea to go for an ex display laptop? I still get a years warranty and whatnot.

You could go with 1 or 2 tb. I would make sure it's one of those small ones that doesn't require an external power supply.

No idea what QLD is, I live in the southeast US

Should I buy a barebones Novatouch for $150 or should I keep waiting for EliteKeyboards to restock the ES-87 with MX Clears for $130 + shipping?

Recommend me some good Bluetooth speakers under 50€
Thanks

Xiaomeme

Past that, I've heard good things about the company UE

In anniversary does anyone know how to remove the Windows Defender icon from the taskbar? You can't turn it off in either of the Notification area settings.

Also, anyone know if it's possible to use the previous version of Sticky Notes? The new one is awful.

I want an NAS to put some drives in RAID and use it locally as an external drive, without all the networking features.

Do NAS boxes without the networking stuff exist? How are they called?
Or rather, what should I google to find them?

Thank you in advance.

Its just called a RAID enclosure

That seems to be it.

Thank you very much user.

There's some unix software I want to run on my Android phone (from the cli or otherwise). But of course, Android doesn't natively offer a lot of important unix tooling, so I'm likely to get lost in dependency hell.
How would I best go about doing this?

If it costs about half of what it would be new, go for it. If it's just a small discount, bad idea.

Awesome is the one you want.
Have you switched the Terminal you use to copy/paste commands off the internet to an unreadable font in green yet?

ZTE Axon 7

How good is this phone for the money?

Pop in a Linux Live system, use that to access your files and copy them over to an external drive.
Then re-install.

how do i change the Sup Forums skin on my iphone??

>nowadays
>netbook
choose one, sadly

Is there any decent free tool that can reencode .adx audio files into .wav?

Any way I can view all the about:config changes I've made in firefox?

I want a rolling release distro that's stable. I don't care about the latest packages, I'm just sick of re-installing Ubuntu every time a new release is out cause upgrading always breaks shit.

I want to install a system, update it regularly and KEEP it. But I still want the packages to be tested properly before they roll out.

Anything for me out there?

if i used my own semen as thermal paste how often would i have to reapply?

It has a Status column. Click on that to sort by status.

>android phone
>using as few apps as I can
>moved as much as I could to the SD card
>disabled as much bloat as possible
>deleted cache
>still get the insufissient storage when trying to update things when I have at least 500mb free

What can I do without jailbraking? I dont understand why it just wont let me install shit and updates to the SD card.
