find someone with a Surface Pro Device, plug it in, right click (Encrypt) via Windows 10 Pro bitchh

Why would you encrypt it?

Idk
No porn or sensitive shit I just leave them behind a lot

>encrypting a flash drive

What are you doing with that drive, user? Something that you shouldn't be doing?

Why would you need to encrypt your storage?
You must be intending to hide something that you shouldn't have.

get one made of metal with a ring and attach it to your keys

Your best bet is not not encrypt it and leave some sort of notepad file to get it back to you if lost. Worked twice for me in the past (I don't lose it too often). People are nice and normally don't jack your shit.

I also found some portable universal bus drives, and most of them didn't have any sort of text file to identify where to send the drive...so I keep those.

where'd you get those icons from m8?

yea maybe in w.e bumblefuck city you live in

actually in most college campuses especially if it looks like there are reports on said drives, most people will try and return the drive. No one wants to risk being the reason some guy failed a class cause he lost his copy of a report. Of course that kid would have to be an idiot to have a sole copy on a thumb drive but I have seen it done before.

>there are people on this planet, plugging in unknown usb devices.
literally wtf
last week I sent someone the latest harry potter in epub. "can't open that user." I knew that girl from tinder for a day, and she opened a file with an unknown extension.
people don't know how easy it would be to hack them man...

You wanted good freeware, and you leave flash drives behind a lot. Sounds more like you could use this (bgreco.net/reminder.php) rather than encrypting.

VeraCrypt. Make 2 partitions, one unencrypted and the second for your cp

>Not 3.1 keys

Why would you open a file without examining it? The usb is hardless if you're not an idiot.

>64gb/Usb 3.0 flash drive
You mean Thumb Drive right?

>thumb drive
Do you mean zip diske?

>zip diske?
I believe the correct phrase is USB Jump Drive.

I think you newfriends mean USB dongle.

>le bad usb meme

LUKS. Use cryptsetup to set it up, or I think there's a nice graphical tool for it (maybe gnome-disks).

>2016
>not putting everything on the cloud

Don't you mean USB memory stick?

Because you can easily lose it. Don't underestimate the trouble you can get into for just losing trivial personal data.

>USB memory stick?
Nigga, that's a Pen Drive.

Goddammit I knew this thread would devolve into pic related when I posted it. Never change Sup Forums.

As to why I want to encrypt I really just want to have it encrypted to be cool. Nothing else, no cp or nuclear lunch codes

This is what virtual machines are for.

Here's the thing: You would need the same encryption software on all computers where you plug in the drive. As I know schools and universities, you can't just install encryption software as a normal user.

The company for which I used to work had a hand tailored Ubuntu on all its computers and laptops, and that comes with encryption support. Just click "use as encrypted drive" when you format it. That works well and depending on the length of your key/passphrase is reasonably secure.

It's better though to always pay attention to where your flash dirve is. I left mine at the university a few times because the computers are under the table and I didn't see it when I logged off. It sounds silly, but I got a little USB extension cord that I plugged into the computer instead so that the flash drive could remain in my backpack. Haven't forgotten it since.
