GTX 750 Ti in 2016

Is the 750 Ti a passable card in 2016? I have a super restrictive power budget so would prefer something that requires under 75w. I also want a low heat card because it's hot.

Looking at benchmarks, it seems like this card consistently reaches console-level performance at least. Do you think Nvidia is going to ignore it when the 1050 comes out?

Wait for Pascal GP107, either GTX 1050 or GT 1040

Just get an APU or high end iGPU

really depends on what you play

Runs almost everything at ultra at 720p.
For 1080p it might do medium or high.

GTX 750 Ti is outdated, it doesn't support HEVC hardware decoding or VP9 hardware decoding like Pascal GPUs do.

Pascal GPUs support HEVC Main10 4K/8K hardware decoding & VP9 4K/8K hardware decoding, pretty much future proof for hardware decoding

I was thinking of waiting for the 1050, but Pascal cards all use more power than their predecessors. The 950 was already 90w, so I expect the 1050 to use even more than that. And the GT 1040 is likely to be either shit or take months to come out.

Wrong, GTX 950 uses 75W

16nm FINFET process is more power efficient than 28nm planar proces

GTX 950 only using 75w? This isn't like ayymds pci-e housefire is it?

Still running a 660ti OC'd and waiting for something remarkably worlds apart from what i have. I think it all depends on what you use it for bruh

There's no 6pin power connector, so it can only draw 75W and Nvidia complies with the PCIe power specs, unlike AYYMD that clearly violates it

I bought a 750 ti recently for an alt PC with a 430w PSU. Is it ok for what it is? Sure. But I'm starting to feel like I should have just waited for a 460 or 1050.

rx 460

+1

i5 4460 and 750Ti here.

Bought it in August 2014. Its working fine. i will upgrade when volta becomes avaialble.

runs ok with most games.

dont buy 750Ti now. buy the current gen like the RX480 ior 1060

Hi boi. I got the evga 750 ti oc with 2gb in a dell inspiron 570 with amd 2.8 ghz and 6 gb of ram, 500w psu. I play everything at 1080p high settings, no physix, from 50 to 60 fps (batman arkham origins, tomb rider).
It is pretty good indeed, and cheap. Dont fall for the 10xx meme. Be a good boi, get the humble 750 ti, the little graphics card that could.

Not strictly true.

>tfw used a gtx 550 ti for 5 years and only replaced it because of the vram bottleneck
buying new graphics cards are a meme

You can buy 750 ti's that have a 6 pin connector. It is mostly so you can OC it.

can i pretend you are an older girl to make this post better

make of this what you will OP

I wouldn't buy a 460 right this second since the prices are gouged to fuck though

Im ok with that. No homo.

That GTX 950 performs worse than a regular 950, so the fact that it's slot-powered is irrelevant really. They could only make it that way by crippling it. Not to mention that it draws more than 75W from the PCIe slot, but nobody cared because Nvidia paid them not to.

>2016, buy a legacy card that not fully support dx12/vulkan.
Be happy.

>high end iGPU

>super restrictive power budget
you could run a 1080 all day and it would be like $15 more at the end of the month.

I have a 950 which is a bit more powerful than the 750 Ti, and it's what I would consider to be the minimum for good-quality PC gaming. Splash a little more money on a 950, or wait for 1050/1060

rx 460?

R9 380 4Gb

no reason to get shit user.
anything else is rubbish for the price.
saw 3 of them going for $320NZD

I think that's like 105USD or something.
never going to find better for cheaper.

Peak is not the problem, average is. RX480 exceeded 75W slot power on average.

75W is all they can take from the slot. 460 doesn't require a power connector so Nvidia will make a competitor to it soon.

i7 6700k & gtx 660 here, My PC runs fine in everything I throw at it but i'll probably buy a rx 490 or a gtx 1070 whichever is better in the next few months when mafia 3 and all those games come out.

Does anyone knows which video card to buy if I have 300 burgers on budget that also is VR ready? Right now I'm up to the ASUS GeForce GTX 970 Strix.

RX 480 is but save for 1070

8800GTX IN 4 WAY SLI BABY

1060 or 480, or save for a 1070. Don't pay more than $200 for a 970.

>turn on pc
>instant housefire

I got interested on a Asus STRIX GTX950. Y/N?

Definitely no, unless you ONLY play MOBAs or valve titles

Would a 520W psu be enough for a GTX 1060 and a i5 6500?

Post some of your recommendations with image, please.
1st time buying a video card.

Yes

is this a joke? get a 1060 its much better than a meme70.

Even a 300W PSU would be enough.

Honestly man, I have no idea why anyone would pay $150 for a new card with shit performance when you can just fork over the extra $50 or so and get a 470/480/970. If you want a cheap shitty card just buy some used 7950 on craigslist for $80. That's just my opinion. I know buying used cards is risky but honestly you're spending so little it doesn't really matter. People who can afford and have an interest in computer hardware are usually decent people and likely wouldn't knowingly give you a broken card, this is from my experience buying and selling used GPUs on craigslist for years. Never had a bad experience, never gave or got a card that wasn't in perfect condition from anyone.

I just think if you're willing to spend $120+ on a GPU you might as well spend $200 and get something decent, or just jew hard and save the cash.

Bought this for 289€ three dayso ago. I'll mostly use for playing games on a Asus VG248QE (1920x1080 144 Hz). Did I do good?

I don't think so.

That's a lot of money but I guess everyone pays shit prices in Europe.

>1920x1080

Yes

>144 Hz

No.

>GTX 1060 = 121W max
>i5-6500 = 65W max
>Rest of PC = 50W max
Which gives a maximum usage of 236W.

Depends on what you're playing.
For CS:GO, Overwatch and Quake Champions it's more than enough.
If you expect to play AAA "cinematic" puke at 144 on that card ... well any card really.

Asus GEFORCE GTX 950 for Overwatch Y/N?

Both RX480 and GTX 1060 are worth around 300€ here.

Why no? Of course I don't mean to play the most recent games at 144 Hz on ultra. I play old fps games like TF2 and in the future I might add Chivalry, Overwatch and Garden Warfare 2. The screen's refresh rate can be decreased anyways to 60 Hz anyways.

Nice.

Running your PSU at 78-80% for any extended period of time is probably not a great idea, especially if it's a cheap shitty OEM 300w PSU, which it probably is.

For those games it's more than enough.
Also don't bother with Chivalry. It's been dead for a long time.

Damn. I wanted to try Chivalry so bad.

~60fps on very high settings @1080p
But overwatch runs pretty well on everything.

it's shit

So it works perfectly fine on a LED 720?

Are you in the US? If so get a GTX 1060. More performance and more VRAM for VR.

>$300 budget
>Looking at a 970
Why?

Memegg

The 750 Ti is trash, I have one and can confirm CSGO struggles at 720p High.
If you are getting one, get the MSI half height half width model so you xan use it in a junky office machine when you get sick of it in your main machine. Wait for the 1050/950ti, nothing is good right now. If you really want something RIGHT NOW get a low power EVGA Geforce GTX 950.

4GB 460. More expensive, but you'll thank yourself until the PS4 doesn't get support.

1060 if Nvidia

Curious to see what your userbenchmark results for the card are.

no the RX 460 is better

>970
>in 2016
Nigger just get a fucking RX 480

RX 460 or GTX 950?

I'm on a Budget here so these are what I've been looking at. 460 slightly more future proof because vulkan and driver updates (it just came out)? Or doesn't matter because 950 still outweighs it?

RX 460, same performance in DX11 as a 950, generally cheaper, and above 960 performance in DX11, and less power consumed than a 950

I know you're on a budget but I strongly recommend stretching the extra 50 dollars and getting a 470. Massive increase in performance. You might have to wait a bit for them to settle on normal prices though

>and above 960 performance in DX11
fuck i ment dx12

If he's lucky he might even find 480 at the same price of a 470 right now

I may be able to do that if I get like a 120gb ssd instead of 250gb. I'll look into it thanks. Being broke sucks lol

Not him, but the XFX brand is trustworthy?

yes

yes

Then I have made my decision. Thanks famalams!

XFX is a good brand, Sapphire is top tier, XFX is like, maybe second place

got a budget of $300, is pic related good?

120GB SSD is a bit small.. save your money or suck a few dicks or something

Fuck no get a RX 480 instead

I rather nvidia tho

what about a 970? there's a few on sale for $450

ebay.com/itm/Msi-gtx-960-/182240014282?hash=item2a6e59efca:g:XVsAAOSwU-pXrRMT

Get the RX 480, it is in every way possible better than both the 960 or 970

Well i figure flash drives are getting cheaper everyday so this could hold me over for half a year or so until I need more, idk 470 does look nice from what I've seen, but they're all sold out on newegg lol

msi 960? i rather get an nvidia 960

isnt 480 old?

the RX 480 came out like last month

im still not convinced. ive heard that amd is going out of business? what will happen to the card? won't that leave it exposed to viruses?

Thing is the 750ti is awesome for its low power draw. I run Skyrim Ultra settings with a shit Q6600 at 48fps stable. The GPU only uses 40% of its full power.

U wot m8

are you pretending to be retarded?

i see a lot of "AMD: BANKRUPT, NVIDIA WINS" threads

is it not true?

So the 1050 should run like an overclocked 960, right?

leave

Yeah I am a cheapstake, that's why I converted an unused pre-built work station into a low-end game station (sandy i3, 8gb ram and 750ti that is). The problem here is that even in 2016 there's no half-height version of 9xx and 10xx, msi's half-height 750ti was the best graphic card available which fits my bill (small to fit in thin case and draw little power so the 250w psu can handle it along with mobo and 2 more HDDs).
