When will somebody nuke this shitty operating system?

bump

>copy file from windows to any other OS
>get system volume information folder
>thumbs.db

Okay so that's 2 things to delete. How about a hidden file for every single fucking file on the directory tree like Apple does? Impossible to delete by hand if there's multiple directories, and impossible to match with a regex.

What, do you actually want somebody to give you date and time when macfags will become BTFO?

>._.DS_Store

I want to see macfags trying to justify their shitty OS

In that case I'm sorry to disappoint you. Even macfags don't like their OS. The shiny macbooks are merely biological signals to find matching partner.

implying average mac users even know what hidden files are
implying mac users ever use flash discs
implying mac users have any data worth the trouble transferring
implying mac users doesn't use cloud services exclusively
implying mac users are on Sup Forums, yet on this board

So many implications...

>Copy files from Linux to any other OS
>No extra files
???

You again? You're doing something wrong, I don't get that shit.

>Copy files from windows
>Computer crashes

>.lost+found

So that's because you're like this

>Not disabling this on external mediums

>copy files with long names/special characters to Windows
>it shits itself
every fucking time

...

Mac would just nuke it without questions

Whatever helps you justify your incompetence.

kek, grow up and take your meds man

>on a thumb drive

Maybe on FagOS, but not Linux. Try harder!

So? It doesn't affect Mac users, that's all that matters.

>can't

how about you do rm -rf .* on ejecting you faggot

just make an automator service on right click

*copy files using Finder

>it's okay to lose all your hidden files who cares about them if they're hidden
Do you represent the intellect of the average macfag?

>implying cp doesn't copy the same shit
You'd think people who use the OS have a basic understanding of how it works.

If you're sending them to non-osx computers, why not.

It's just caches and finder folder settings.

It doesn't. If you use cp or a different file manager it only copies the files you meant to copy. The additional files are only a thing if you use Finder or something like ditto where it copies everything in the directory

I'll have to confirm this, but even if that's true, how is it good design? Why can't you use the graphical file manager? Isn't OSX supposed to be easy? As it stands I never have to resort to the terminal on Linux for basic file management if I don't have to, yet on OSX, the world's easiest operating system, I constantly need to.

>I'll have to confirm this, but even if that's true, how is it good design?
It's part of HFS+ which is being replaced. Otherwise they're just hidden folders. If you weren't an idiot you'd know they're on Linux, too.

you don't really need to input this in terminal. just make an automator (it's a gui app) service or how it's called. Then right click on the target and select the new-made service. Or just ignore that, proper OS hide files starting with dot.

Also stop making these threads, you're embarrassing yourself.

>.Trash-1000
>All the files that were supposed to be deleted go here and you have to delete them again

You don't understand, there's a file starting with a dot for every single file you copy. That's not acceptable.

> just make an automator (it's a gui app)
Again, not very user friendly. This is just something basic you expect to work OOTB on any OS. And after the files are created there's no good way for you to remove them automatically since there's a dotfile for every proper file.

What are you going on about

actually, it only creates 1 dotfile - .ds_store. Volumes also have .trashes and .spotlight. That's it.

:)))

No. It creates a corresponding dotfile for each file in the directory tree being copied. I tested this today.

It really depends. I don't know what triggers this happening but I have ended up with a dotfile for every transferred file before.

>buy a mac
>cannot even choose how it shuts down

>You don't understand, there's a file starting with a dot for every single file you copy
No, there isn't.

>What are you going on about
You've been making threads showcasing your incompetence for weeks, now.

The fuck are you on about?

No, there's only one person who whines just like you

>install a game on Linux

>writes settings file in any of /usr/share, ~, ~/.local/share, ~/.config, ~/Documents

>software is thoroughly documented and has very helpful devs and comunities around it

On windows you can tell it when to shut down. On macs you can only shut down when it wants to or if the battery dies.

if a file contains something that can't be represented on the remote fs like xattrs then it creates apple double files which is what the OP is referring to

Or you can click the apple menu and select shutdown or use the shutdown command in your terminal emulator

What a retarded post

the fuck are you talking about

doesn't work. Go ahead and try it.

It works perfectly, I do it every day.

You cannot possibly be this retarded

0/10 troll

oh yeah, do it right now see it it works.

It works fucking fine you goddamned retard

lol this stupid macfag actually turned off his computer

I'm not even using OS X right now, you fucking moron
