A lot of information on the db9 forums, although don't think you can go in and learn everything in a few days. It is something you progressively learn after practice, so many different settings to adjust and mess around with.
My advice to you is to read up on a guide and practice on a movie that's already been encoding by other reputable groups, comparing what you've done to what they've done after you feel you have done your best to learn to align yourself with the quality encodes
