It sounds great with my evos directly plugged into it. Definitely better than my chinkpad's builtin sound and I like it even better than the sound of my sansa clip (might just be placebo though). But I'm no audiophile and I have the hearing of someone in his 60s, so I really don't know shit.
Works without any hassle under Linux, haven't tested it under Windows.

Daily with my ali XY Lm3886 board. It's actually a really really solid DAC. You can buy ones already assembled for the same price give or take a couple dollars - then you just need to wire it up to a transformer which isn't too hard.
Bought a RCORE transformer to go with it.
They got some other PCM2704 usb dacs that are basically the same deal as that but cheaper (like $3 vs $10) I bought couple and they are okay, way better than onboard sound but nothing too dramatic.
