lol. fuck microsoft. this is the beginning of the end

Year of the Linux Desktop is fast approaching

Top lel, nobody is going to use your cuck OS that requires command prompt like it's still the 80s and no video games or relevant software like Photoshop

>using botnet intel processors
>any year
Seriously, come on.

>cucking yourself into using the heap of shit AMD calls a processor

Guess I'm using my 5960X forever because fuck Windows 10.

>believing the Intel FUD

microsoft goes no where. you know how big windows 10 is gonna be once support or 7 is dropped.
its come and gone friendo
i use linux, and windows 10. There are plenty of ways to accomplish anything that you would in photoshop.
its either that or AMD
nothing wrong with AMD processors, arch is just dated, back when they released they were great.
4770 here. im not moving a budge.
>thinking that AMD processors arent heaps of shit in 2016

"only supported WINDOWS platform", dumbfuck

>How dare they not write drivers and shit for my old OS!
Yeah, sure. Windows 7 is on life support, get used to it.

How will this not just work with Linux?

>People who are using an outdated OS complaining about it being outdated

Get fucked Win7-fags

Can't you read ?

>Microsoft is going to force your soft tiny girlish mouth to take all 8 inches

>not dual booting linux for privacy and porn and windows 10 for gayming and exclusive programs
Fucking idiots.

>Microsoft guarantees minimum support ends no earlier than some time in 2020
>somehow being able to operate the OS doesn't fall into this category

It's almost as if they're demanding a class-action lawsuit against them.

>hurr durr I'm too dumb to type in a command prompt
>hurr durr I'm so cucked that I willingly pay hundreds of dollars for proprietary shitware without considering free alternatives
>hurr durr what is Wine?
>hurr durr muh gaymes

>i use...windows 10
>allowing Windows 10 to run outside of a VM

once they fix the audio issues in linux, i can spend 100% of my time in there, until then i need winblows.

They also announced no updates for skylake but it was 100% FUD

It's an x86 processor. Does any new code even need to be written?

>Only supported on Windows 10(*)
>* = some irrelevant power-saving features that is

The problem isn't the processor, it's all the things that used to be on the northbridge and southbridge that are now incorporated onto the processor. The general processing should work as normal for every x86_64 OS with some other features not working as intended because they're not supported.
This is one example.

>muh gaymes

Why would they add new features, such as support for completely new chipsets, to downlevel versions on extended support?

Do you expect to still boot Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, Fedora 12, and so on, and have them still work with brand new hardware?

Yes, amongst other things for the on-chipset USB 3.1 drivers and the new microcode and power management, which is extensive.

>irrelevant power-saving features
Oh, you really don't want to do that. Enjoy your electromigration.

AMD has PSP which is functionally the same shit as IME

It is not like you can't run Windows 7 on kaby lake, it is just that MSand probably HW manufactures wont release platform specific fixes/drivers for Windows 7.

Just upgrade.

What's the point of having a good PC if you can't play games on it? Might as well just get a console and then a cheaper laptop for word-processing. Unless you're running some kind of rendering farm.

this

otherwise your pc wouldn't turn on, because cpu would refuse to execute uefi code

Thanks for explaining. So it sounds like it only matters for laptops.

Let me clarify: proper power-state functionality will be required for correct operation of all Kaby Lake SKUs, desktop and mobile.

I don't think they're intending to force it with SMM this time.

>can't play games
It's like Microsoft-paid trolls don't even know there are thousands of GNU games on Steam alone and a ton more otherwise, not to mention Wine and emulation.

This is why I bought my Skylake rig.

Go away, I can't stand snooping yanderes

Won't matter in the end, Intel wants money and the second they see a fall off in processor sales their little exclusivity with Microsoft will end real fast.

>buying the latest CPU
>minimum support
>implying Microsoft build the CPUs and not Intel

No lawsuit is going to happen

Supported doesn't mean it won't work.

hahahah, I'm glad I use linux and don't have to deal with this kind of bullshit

Take all the linux games.
Remove all that are shit
Remove all that run like shit
How many are left?

>What's the point of having a good PC if you can't play games on it?

If you want to do anything creative with your computer, word processor doesn't really cut it.

FTL

>run like shit
Obviously games that doesn't run is no fun, do you include those on windows?

Games are meant to be fun.
If they fail that, they have no reason to exist.
I play a few games on linux, I find them to entertain me.
I don't care if other people play them competitively or if some other neckbeard find them fun.
There is more than I would have time to play, so why would I care if there is more somewhere else?

WoW, Grand strategy games from paradox, all valve games, civilization V, mount and blade warband, baldur's gate series. And more.

None of them run like shit, if they do it's because you bought a brand new video card that isn't supported yet.

CS1.6 runs fine. What else do you need?

>requires command prompt
There's almost nothing I ever have to do that requires that command line, apart from programming. Either on KDE or Cinnamon.

Csgo duh

That's the worst CS, but I think it should run fine on Linux.

>thousands of GNU games
everything I want to play is on Windows.

>Wine and emulation
Wine is really bad for games. There are always weird bugs when I can get the game to run. Emulators probably run better on Linux though, since they're probably mostly developed on linux.

CS:GO runs pretty well on Linux. The frame rate is somewhat worse, but it's still very usable.

The only real problem I had with it is that opening the scoreboard tanks the frame rate for some reason, and mouse sensitivity varies with screen resolution. I'm also not sure how to create a custom resolution on Linux, but I like playing in 1440x1080.

It's the same for Skylake, so I don't know what you're whinging about.

Lol muh windows 7 fags btfo. Embrace the botnet

This isn't something Intel has control over.

You have a choice
VGA passthrough
youtube.com/watch?v=a9MgoRIXEqc

On a scale from 8 to 10, how much do you love microsoft?

9/10 here

Poorfags who can't afford Windows 10 BTFO

same here buddy

windows 7 and 8 both work on skylake

How does every Linux distribution still work on Kaby Lake if not even Microsoft can pull it off?
Either Linux is lying or cheating somehow.

as long as jewtel makes drivers for older platforms who cares what M$ says?

they can go fuck themselves, im sure there will be a way to make it work, there always is

>Kaby Lake is basically Skylake
>Cannon Lake is basically Skylake but in 10nm
>Skylake is basically Sandy Bridge
>Basically everything will work on Win7/8/8.1

>update to Windows 10
>disable botnet and spynet
>Sup Forums has panic attack because they forgot that people can alter their operating system with executables
>they stick their fingers in their ears and go "lalalala I don't believe it you must be magically sending data through secret portals"
>Kek at all the triggered Fedora wearing neets while I enjoy the latest and greatest in software for $0.00

I don't mind the laggards. It's hilarious though that their shit is so garbage they have to make up reasons not to use windows 10. "Muh privacy", "Muh interface", "Muh font rendering"

I can understand the privacy, but the fact that they go into full sperg when I tell them I disabled all the Spyware is baffling.

You can't disable the botnet though. Not even with third party tools.

I already did. How can the botnet work if I blocked ms servers?

I never use the terminal

Why has Microsoft been playing crash and burn with their near monopoly lately?

CSGO runs actually better on Linux, apsoloutley stutter free and lover latency because its OpenGL.

CS:GO doesnt even work on Linux Mint for me, runs at about 10 FPS less on Ubuntu than it did on Windows 8.

Tried both open source and proprietary drivers.

It's a game of cat and mouse.
By the time you have made your custom blacklist on your external routing device, MS has already created updates and routed even more bits of small traffic to weird ass domains and third parties using the updates to the OS.
Sup Forums says executables don't work because they can't guarantee it will catch everything and there's no guarantee that they're at all up to date with MS using different domains constantly. Most windows traffic is also hard coded into your software, but easy to edit and understand on their end, making it difficult to detect changes or intercept it, when even the OS isn't aware what it's doing.

It's a big black box that you need 3-5 other black boxes to put inside of so it will stop pumping out your personal info over smoke signals, supersonic waves, and electromagnetic impulses, and basically whatever other method it found to phone home that particular week.

Unless you forego updating entirely and loose your "bleeding edge" at which WHAT IS THE POINT OF USING IT over an OS with a guaranteed and long history of clean traffic and reliability.

This.
You can never be 100% sure you're in the clear with Windows 10.

>le cuck meme muh vidya xDD
Typical windows user.

>Microsoft announced that Windows 10 would be the only supported Windows platform for Kaby Lake processors

This only says that they will not offer any updates or fixes for other previous versions, not that said versions wont work on said processors.

>AMD is the only alternative

If you plan on using a Kaby Lake processor with Windows 8.1/8/7/etc I would start blocking MS domains on the hosts file. Considering how fucking hard they're pushing Windows 10 I wouldn't put it past them to intentionally break old Windows on Kaby Lake systems.

They said the same about Skylake. What happened to that then?

I'd try Windows 10 if I had a working copy of NTlite to gut it with. But I am not paying $45 to fuck around with an OS I don't even like.

We got any rough estimates for the perf of kaby lake yet? I think I will probably build a kaby lake pc to replace my sandy bridge but might be able to hold out a bit longer if its shit.

Show me an ms server that isn't blocked.

Most games run on linux.

Most standard tools like Unity, source, unreal etc run on both.

Most tools run on both, except adobe products.

>You pay for windows 10 with your metadata.
How does it feel working for the man.

prob cus ur retardede

proof = you play cs go

You suck

Good thing Intel doesn't release processors with significant boosts in performance over previous generations anymore.

>he literally imports shitty VIAs from Taiwan

> Most games run on linux.
Not Denuvo protected games.

3% faster than Skylake
13% faster than Sandy Bridge

Both Warhammer TW and Deus Ex HR and coming to linux, we'll see if denuvo is ported too.

Save us, zen.

This next two years will see a rise of Linux distros like never before

So judging by this thread, Sup Forums will go full AMD in the next couple years, right?

I definitely won't.

You know fuck all about computers. Go back to your vtech-like computer where the only way of operating it is to use a mouse which will inevitably give you RSI. Windoze fag

This triggers delusional Sup Forums.

No worries, Zen will be a thing next year and AMD will be relevant

>Last decade Intel fuck up prescott so bad it make AMD won.
>This year intel goes full NSA???

Will history repeat itself again, but this time for permanently?

>January 15, 2016
>More than 7 months later, Kaby Lake still isn't out despite being on 14 nm

It might as well be called Coffee Break because Intel is probably taking a load of them before releasing this minuscule improvement on SkyLake.

xrand

What about Skylake-X? Broadwell-E was a shit upgrade over Haswell-E.

They don't need to. There's no competition and Skylake is still selling well.

The next Apple MacBook Pro will come with the latest Kaby-Lake-technology from Intel for the best user-experience ever.
