>/ubuntu/ - linux for people too retarded for debian ftfy
Mason Cook
URGENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what icon theme is that its FUCKING SEXY
Ethan Stewart
No matter what distro I use, I keep coming back to Ubuntu unity. It just feels like the only one that "just works".
Connor Sanchez
Where's elementary?
Josiah Ramirez
Why on earth would anyone want to use debian with its ancient packages or be test monkey for next stable?
ubuntu LTS > debian anything any day the funniest thing is that its true in server world as well
Benjamin Cooper
is this lighter than xfce? (i'm asking for my mum)
Brayden Harris
its not done and it doesnt fucking matter this is 2014 you can save 50MB on DE and firefox/chromium will eat it in 19 seconds
Asher Allen
How stable is LXqt anyways?
I run MATE on arch, but it's been catching my eye lately since the only other qt based DE is KDE (and we all know how well that is)
Luis Torres
I have only 2gb of integrated ram mayne, I need all the juice i can squeeze out of it
Zachary Ramirez
is this a sick epic new general on Sup Forums?
Tyler Brooks
who the fuck knows I installed it on arch and had to even pull own terminal and own icons to make it look usable when Lubuntu releases LXQt only build we will know its stable
no you dont, you have more than enough already
Daniel Wood
>server world Nah that's not true. Debian stable is exactly what it says.
I agree with the Ubuntu thing for daily use though. I use arch now because I found Ubuntu to handle dist upgrades poorly.
Noah Parker
you don't know me fa m
Jose King
you underestimate power of community and laziness
Brody Flores
>slow >laggy >16.04 buggiest version yet >Nautilus loses features with every release >highly visible bugs that have been around for years not fixed >packages not indexed properly >"just works"
Elijah Cook
what do you suggest then ?
Brody Smith
Arch or Gentoo. If you still want your casual experience, I would stay away from Ubuntu Unity and Kubuntu for 16.04 at least. Lubuntu and Ubuntu MATE are the most comfy in my opinion.
William Kelly
Ubuntu MATE a best
Jonathan Lee
>its retarded
Brandon Evans
>just works >suggests gentoo or arch
i have a life friend. i use linux for a living, i don't have time to install and maintain arch or gentoo.
i need a out of the box, just work distro, with minimal problems, to pop my tools and start working.
Alexander Turner
is that ubuntu font ? looks good.
Carter Garcia
...
Jonathan Gonzalez
Ubuntu distros are the best ones for man-chikd shit, right? I want gaymes.
Ayden Bennett
you want windows the idea that some distro is for games is ridiculous
Chase Ramirez
why use mauilinux when you can use kde neon stable wich is barely the same ?
Brayden Lee
>kde >stable
Kevin Sanders
Am I the only one who experiences nautilus glitches when emptying Trash? lol
Thomas Perry
I think so.
sudo apt-get install unity-tweak-tool
Jose Hall
I think once lxqt has about another year under its belt, I'm going to switch to it. I really like a lot of qt apps, like quasselclient, but I don't like how slow and greedy plasma/KDE are
Dylan Garcia
nice meme
Brandon Martinez
Except Debian isn't any harder than Ubuntu.
Ubuntu may have started out as a flavor of Debian, but now they're not all that similar anymore. They're about as close as Fedora and YellowDog; they use the same package manager
Cooper Green
what console is that?
Benjamin Parker
Can the whisker menu button be changetd with an icon pack?
Carter Taylor
In the bin, where it fucking belongs.
Nathaniel Rodriguez
actually it's for people who want a more up to date distro without the fear of having to repair your OS each udpate (rolling distro)
Cameron Bailey
yep. select all icons.
Andrew Sullivan
>No Linux mint Fuck you.
Owen Powell
Anyone using Maui? Is it good?
Or should I just go with Neon?
Isaiah Price
Antergos.
It's Arch with a really simple installer. It walks you through the installation process, lets you choose what software you want on your system, and lets you choose between Gnome, KDE, LXDE, XFCE, Mate or Openbox. (Actually I think Cinnamon might be an option too)
It's basically Arch that tries to be less autistic and more accessible. If you're an Ubuntu-tier user (as in new to Linux, not saying that in a derogatory way) then Antergos is really the best option. It gives you the ease of use similar to Ubuntu with the flexibility of Arch. And all of the archwiki articles work perfectly with Antegros because it doesn't try to slap a fresh coat of paint on and call itself a totally new OS like Manjaro. It really is just a more user friendly Arch.
Grayson Young
>>Unofficial Distributions: >Neon: mauilinux.org
No. neon.kde.org
That's where you get neon.
And as for unoffical distros, it's just kde that actually works on top of official Ubuntu 16.04
Jordan Young
>implying maintaining arch takes any real effort
Blake Baker
using Antergos, Cinnamon is an option and I suggest it for newer users.
Parker Cook
mint MATE the comfiest
Benjamin Davis
>what icon theme is that its FUCKING SEXY I want to know as well.
Nathan Harris
PLS RESPOND
Dylan Rogers
It's the new icon theme of Unity 8.
Luis Roberts
>Install Ubuntu because I just inserted a Nvidia GeForce GTX 465 graphics card on my computer >Select the proprietary and tested latest binary drivers for it >It won't boot because it gets stuck on fsck check
>Try to see if it works on Debian instead >Debian finally finishes installing, thank fuck >Follow the Debian Wiki on how to install proprietary Nvidia drivers via jessie-backports and the official repository >Black screen on boot
>Try to install Manjaro >Black screen during the installation
>Installed Mageia >Black screen on boot yet again
>Mfw
What the fuck do I do now?
Levi Perez
is this lightweight as mint mate? does it have different package manager than mate?
god I fucking love xubuntu but I'm a fucking gaymer
maybe one day..
Carter Parker
I dont see problem I play lots of skyrim and BF4 and overwatch waiting for BF1... while when I am done playing I reboot and in 30 seconds I am in my arch
true that I play less probably because of leaving main for second, but not that much and I also dont consider it a bad thing, to play less if I am cant be bothered to wait 30sec for windows to boot
Adam Gray
>I have a penis in my mouth
Elijah Hill
Not him, but i wish that linux had better aymen support
i just want to be able to game and then alt+tab to "work"
GAMES BEING DEVELOPED FOR VULKAN/LINUX WHEN?!?!?!?!
Liam Jackson

Cameron Torres
i use mint and had no problems so far, gog even supports mint officially
Noah Williams
whats the name of this theme?
Noah Sanders
try mint. did u try the latest manjaro? it works fine for me
Kayden Clark
Gnome is the best if you have a laptop with a pointer nub. Lots of shortcuts and big buttons.
Kevin Evans
>arch or gentoo Jesus Christ you fucking sperg.
Joseph Jenkins
Not even close to a meme, Kubuntu has been total shit recently. I was a religious devotee of Kubuntu for 5+ years and even I had to admit it. Currently running hideous Unity until they get their shit together.
Dylan Wright
>Not mentioning Ubuntu Studio Best fucking out-of-the-box distro for me.
Hunter Cook
i'm a linux user since 2002 (red hat 8 popped my cherry), had my first stage 1 gentoo in 2004 and settled with ubuntu in 2012. currently running 14.04 with XFCE. there is no need for a simple desktop to go though the configuration hell that gentoo and arch are.
Carson Peterson
Just the install. The rest is relaxing :) using it on my laptop with Intel and desktop with Nvidia 9400GT. I love the fuck out of it.
Angel Campbell
Once you get past the memes, you'll find that Arch and Gentoo are the most stable, well-designed operating systems GNU/Linux has to offer.
Owen Garcia
>configuration hell I'll take the simplicity of Gentoo over the over-engineered, bug-fest that is Ubuntu.
Jose Martinez
I agree. I still tried Ubuntu sometimes but I had problems and I really need fresh software and not 2000 packages out of the box.
Luis Hernandez
Gentoo yes, arch, fuck no. Get the hell out of here with your cancerous Archfaggotry.
Isaiah Butler
Kubuntu is shit, since the begining Try a real KDE distro like Neon, Opensuse or Manjaro
Sebastian Lee
Maybe you should stick to Windows if you can't into something as simple as Arch.
Dominic Kelly
bout to install ubuntu mate, it looks the most comfy desu
Ian Hill

Debian stable is only stable on stable (read: old) hardware.
Try running it on a brand new laptop to see how stable it really is.
James Reed
>fresh software wew lad
Colton Ramirez
brutus retardus
Daniel Bell
>Sup Forums still listens to old memes Oh you.
Grayson Ortiz
It's Arch, so yeah it uses pacman and yaourt instead of apt-get. Not hard to pick up and get used to though.
