Remember to use uTorrent instead of Transmission because Transmission will transmit (hence its name) malware into your machine and you will be completely screwed.
The Transmission devs are clearly amateurs who can't keep their users safe from their own software so please boycott Transmission and any other "community-managed" torrent client because they are all clearly don't know what they are doing.
uTorrent has never had this problem, so everybody who is still using this toxic Transmission client please delete it and switch to the best torrent client in the world: uTorrent.
>suggesting the shittiest torrent client as an alternative to the best >using µTorrent ever

>The infected file was available for download from our website for less than a day, and the file was not available through the auto-update mechanism
>uTorrent has never had this problem µTorrent's been packed with a bitcoin miner in the installer before, don't act like your pile of shit is pure.

>implying based ubuntu wont save me from malware
based archretards
Jonathan Harris
OS X version's the only one that was infected. You're only affected if you installed it during a certain period of time on the 28th though, and even then it's only if you downloaded a fresh install. Updating from an old version would just install the new virus free version.
Landon Foster
Oh, utorrent? The one that is literally classified as adware and bundled a bitcoin miner? Fuck off.
So their website got compromised. Multiple times. If you're using such a shitty OS that you have to manually navigate to a website to download an installer and the key pair used to sign a package can change between releases without so much as a warning, then you've got bigger problems.
The rest of us are unaffected.
Ayden Reed
That said, though, I am paying close attention to how they address this. I gave them a pass the first time, but their communication will determine if I abandon ship for rtorrent or something.
I did hear they're moving their site to github, which should alleviate some of the security burden. So that's at least progress.
Alexander Clark
>transmission on linux >qbittorrent on windows
Come at me, bros.
Matthew Price
thankfully i downloaded transmission the day before this shit and i'm not infected (i checked). Im tired of these transmission bullshit stories. What should i use instead on os x?
Bentley Thomas
this is pretty ridiculous. everything is getting infected with some kind of a malware left and right.
Jordan Flores

Brody Perry
how do I migrate all my torrent data from Transmission to Deluge?
I'm seeding 100+ torrents and don't wanna start from 0 again.
Jaxson Sanders
No, use Deluge,
Benjamin Brooks
I might try deluge, I don't torrent that much on windows, desu. Anyway, I thought deluge was java-based, just noticed it's not, will definitely try it.
Dominic Cruz
Deluge is also open-source like Transmission so it will probably also become infected.
Use uTorrent, which is managed by professionals.

I don't get why people don't just use qBittorrent.
Josiah Foster
>Transmission was never good anyway.
Transmission is way more stable than qStalledmeme.
Ryan Fisher
It has been and still is the best >I don't get why people don't use qBitStalled Gee, I wonder
Camden Phillips
And how would I use it in a dual boot machine, greentexting shitface?
Seriously, these retards that jump into the threads thinking they know better than everybody else piss me off.
Colton Evans
As a matter of fact, I've seen transmission crash a couple of times in windows, while qbittorrent hasn't crashed so far. The time frames are not equivalent, though.
Nathan Jenkins
>>I don't get why people don't just use qBittorrent.
Because it's a buggy piece of shit that freezes, stalls torrents, doesn't fully shutdown and keeps your OS from shutting down, has I/O errors, and can't handle too many torrents.
Hunter Ortiz
>he doesn't run a server
Connor Sanchez
get fucked mac shits

>I've seen transmission crash a couple of times in windows
There's no official Windows port. There's only an unofficial port and an official alpha version which is very buggy.

deluge looks like poo-poo on windows plus for some reason, the download speed capped @ ~2,5mbps for whatever reason plus it completely shits itself if seeding more than 1000 torrans
Landon Clark
Why? this only affects people who use crApple, and therefore it doesn't affect competent users.
Also uTorrent is well known for it's security issues, such as installing bitcoin miners, advertising & peer flooding vurnabilities. it's the least recommended torrent client in the world.
Adam Lee

Are you a utorrent shill? Did you cunts sabotage transmission to get more people to use your client? You guys aught to be ashamed of yourselfs.
Carter Hernandez
Only use qbit here. >inb4 stalled memes. Configure your ports.
this is what happens when you use FOSS programs. what a shit head. Other than knowing how to code the program at a intermediate level, you guys can't do shit.
This is why closed sourced is the best. No way to infect at all unless the creator intends to
Jaxon Campbell
I switched to Deluge from uTorrent 2.2.1 two years ago. No regrets.
>but it looks like shit
So what. I download porn and software with it. I don't stare at it constantly. It's good at what it does and that's all I care about.
