Bump

haha your SSD is shit

>no Sup Forums timestamp

Sure OP, sure.

an ssd is an ssd

No one fucking cares faggot

Should I ask for a better one?

No, it's fine

As a public school teacher, I really wish I made enough money to buy up to date parts. My 560 Ti is just shit now.

Bump

What grade do you teach

post pics of students

>1070 nvidiot
Get AMD instead you fucking faggot.

post pic of your feet

yea, you need an m.2 ssd for streaming.
i saw a noticable stream delay reduction when i got my m.2.
also i dont see any memory there.
btw ducky rgb a shit. corsair actually has a decent community with it.

Just kidding, mechanical keyboards are a fucking meme

You probably do, if you had better financial habits.

It doesn't take a ton of money to throw $1500 at some computer parts once every year or two. Especially when a lot of components can be reused. (PSU, SSD, AIO etc)

Take $100/mo, put it away somewhere and then in a year blammo you got your new system.

"Financial habits" are a lie, you don't need that much money as long as you live in your parents' house.

I get what you mean, but you can't really put money away anywhere. Banks flip out and call the fbi if you make transfers anywhere larger than $1000.

So you gotta "mentally" put it away I guess.

That should be fine and will max out most games at 1080p 60Hz.

I teach public school. I have a 6700k and a gtx 1080, while having a family and other hobbies. My wife has a fairly modest job too.

It's about budgeting. I put away $200 a month towards savings and $100 a month towards hobbies, rest ends up going towards bills groceries car repairs shit the kids want etc

Plan your money out man. If you're in the US, a GTX 1070 is like less than 1% of your yearly income. And that's totally overkill for most games, a RX 480 or GTX 1060 for half the price is totally fine.

Mr. Alston?

>fury x

No thanks

Are you actually mentally retarded?

Yes

Try again.

How much do you make? And how much does your wife make? I make about $50,000 a year and I couldn't justify a 1080 and just went with a 1070.

I make 50k a year(masters degree, HS English teacher in Alabama), plus teaching community college in the summers for another 10k but 100% of that goes to my children's future college.

My wife works for a publishing company and makes around the same as me, hers fluctuates some but never goes far above or below my income. She, like me, puts aside a lot of her money so our kids won't have student loans.

As far as justifying the 1080, I admit it's a bit overkill for the most part. A 1070 is perfectly fine, and if someone offered me $300 and a 1070 for my 1080 I'd probably swap. But I don't regret it enough to worry about it, and I'm very happy to have my 1440p 144hz monitor run so nicely now after trying to run it on a 970 last generation.

>my mom just bought me all this Sup Forums is it good stuff or should I ask for more?
FTFY

I guess I should have mentioned this, I teach in AZ so I make about 33K. Yup...

I work in help desk and make $41/k a year, sorry you make so little, but you only work nine months a year

Do you have a masters degree? In Alabama a masters degree is literally a mandatory 8k/yr pay increase. Specialist degree is another 5 or so thousand a year and they only take 2-3 semesters to acquire.

Not sure what the AZ standards are, but most states have these rules. Mississippi next door has like the worst school system in America and still have significant mandatory pay increases for masters degrees.

>nine months out of the year

Yeahno. Not to be a dick, but you really don't understand how hard it is to be a teacher. In all honesty, most work 2nd or 3rd jobs and "summers off" are really spent working, training, or building materials for the next year. People really do underestimate how many hours are put into this position. Yeah it's great that I get certain weeks off and whatever, but the job is not as clear-cut as people think. I almost always work from 6am to 7:30pm every day.

Also, if you're just chilling during the summers find something else to do. First of all, 100% get a masters degree if you don't have one. Second, check in with local community colleges in your field if you're teaching HS level stuff. If you have a masters in English/History/whatever you can teach night classes for 2-3k per class during the normal year, then teach a full load during the summer for another 10k+.

I've had those arrangements at three community colleges, so I can confirm they're common. Have some ingenuity.

AZ doesn't operate like that, sadly. While we do move up on the pay scale it's not as much. One of my friends has dual-masters, 30+ years of experience, and has retained NBCT for 10+ years and she only makes about 48K due to cuts.

I've thought about tutoring or teaching at a CC, but I just didn't think my skills were quite that sharp. I'm still not as big of a literature buff as I should be.

48k is still a big difference. Higher education is worth pursuing as a public teacher. I'm currently getting my specialist degree and it's an outstanding value for the cost of classes vs the raise. I'm sure that's true in your state too. Start working on that stuff. At least get a masters. You will be happier.

top kek faggot. I only make 29k a year and I have a 6700k and a 980Ti.

Budget harder faggot.

The 1070 beats every single AMD card out, you fucking shill

That's fair, but that's also what you go to get higher education for. A masters and beyond teaches you these things.

You're an English teacher? What grade. I teach 11th.

I think you just received an underhanded diss, because the ssd, regardless of its type, is not big enough.

240 gb are only really acceptable for a desktop if you have a cold storage purposed hard disk.

Have fun buddy.

9th and 10th. I previously taught 6th, 7th, and 8th.

I get that. I could afford a 1080 but couldn't justify it either.

Well why not get a real job then? Do you feel its your duty to have a hard job that pays low?

It's what I'm passionate about.

Then my advice stays the same. Just get a masters degree. You will be happier, and by being significantly more educated you will enjoy teaching and have more free time because things will be more intuitive for you.

Most masters programs for education offer a full night class schedule all the way through so you can keep teaching while doing it. It's hard work, but it's only a year or two and your life will improve drastically.

no they dont lol, who the fuck told you that?

>watercooling a skylake i7

top fucking kek

why are you idiots replying to this obvious bait thread

fucking sage

It's hilarious that they went cheap on the SSD.

Is your union still convincing you that $60,000 is not a lot?
