Why do people own desktop PCs in 2016?
If you need power just buy some cloud time on a machine much faster than any desktop you can afford.

>If you need power just buy some cloud time on a machine much faster than any desktop you can afford.
That sounds awkward and annoying as fuck to deal with.
Why do people own cars in 2016?
If you need to go somewhere just call a cab with a man who knows every road better than you will ever know.
Why do people own cars in 2016?
If you want to get to places, just hire a taxi every time you leave the house.
>Sup Forums turns to worthless reddit-tier shit coincidentally right around the time smartphones roll out
Taxis aren't the only option. People shouldn't own cars, they should be using public transport.
Yeah ssh is so hard
I too have a throbbing erection every time I see a ECDH private key.
For video games obviously. But then that raises the question; Why not just use a console for video games?
>inb4 muh mods
I will use public trasnsport when it arrives when i want, picks me up where i want and leaves me where I want in a reasonable time.
>protip: I will never use it
More like
>muh higher resolutions + graphical quality, higher framerates and better control scheme for several genres
Mods can just be used to improve games without needing to turn all the enemies into MLPs.
How do I load Overwatch in ssh?
so what are you recommending? thin clients?
i simply don't want to depend on a remote service in my private life, if it can be helped. similarly, i don't want rely a food delivery service, even if the food is superfresh, i want actual food in my fridge.
I think you might be on the wrong board
Overwatch is an executable file. Sorry if you haven't heard of it. It's really popular.
Nice try pinko scum
> "You will immediately cease and not continue to access the site if you are under the age of 18."
The average gamer is 37. If you don't play games, there's a higher chance you're underage than if you do.
You need to have a good think about what you just wrote
you need to end urself immediately fatass freetard moron lmaooo
>have a good think
Underage detected
Memesters out in full force tonight
>tonight
it's 11am moron
The stats it gets for 'gamers' include moms and normies playing Facebook games and phone apps.
And it also includes kids playing Minecraft and Nintendo and mobile games.
7PM in Tokyo
>what are timezones
They soon won't.
Laptops now have the same hardware as desktops and the moment laptop prices start coming down, desktops are going to disappear.
Families are only going to have a laptop + tablet combos around and only content creators and 8k ultra hd gaymers with 6-10k to spend on a rig are going to have desktops.
I can't even name a single person I know who still has a desktop.
10 years ago everyone had one and laptops were fairly rare.
Now it's the other way around.
>Laptops now have the same Hardware as Desktops
Funny meme, I wanna see a Laptop as good as my Desktop
Games is the only reason I have a desktop.
Take your pick, there's tons of them.

They all now have the same GPUs as desktops.
I'm pretty confident is saying that a laptop with a 1080 will beat 80% of the desktops on this board.
At least judging by the amount of 1070 and 1060 GPUs and i3 and i5 CPUs that people keep buying.
Also if you happen to be one of the people who happen to be sporting dual Xeons or something, then good for you.
But the average and even above average level user will be more than happy with a laptop in the future.
Only issue is the price.
you don't do much office/multimedia work?
0/10 bait faggot
You can find articles saying that the PC is dying all the way back to 2001.
The PC has been 'dying' for 15 fucking years
Shut the fuck up already
>Its a "That Sup Forums user that hates anything to do with 'GAYMING' and believes that a computers one and only sole purpose is for web browsing and complex program usage" thread
I'm sorry that comp sci degree isn't working out for you user, but you dont need to be a dick to everyone about it.
Oh yeah? Where do I buy 5 year's worth of cloud time for dual titan X and 64 GB ram for less than $3000? Hell, for less than $10000 even.
Except laptops are throttled because the heat half the time.
Also I want multi monitors, a keyboard and mouse that isn't garbage, places to actually plug stuff in, and battery life longer than 10 minutes with a card like that.
if anything laptops are dying with the advent of the tablet , most normies who play Facebook games don't need a lot of power in a portable device, And if you're going to game you might as well get a desktop.
Best gaming platform.
Comfy shitposting.
The demoscene has been "dying" since the 90s.
There's even a meme demo about it
I really need something powerful enough to dick around and do work, rendering with a cloud based farm is alright but modelling is not.
Why do you care so much if someone doesn't use a tablet or a chromebook for their main machine btw? Are you too poor to afford a powerful system?
Public transport is great where I live but it's less convenient, more expensive and doesn't have any of the benefits that cycling does.
>If you need power just buy some cloud time on a machine much faster than any desktop you can afford.
Yea ok. What's it cost to rent a 12 core Xeon machine with a decent GPU?
Gamers are annoying, though.
>People shouldn't own cars
Eat my dick
>public transport
>anywhere near fast enough
>reaching anywhere near as far
Well, still apt as an analogy for op.
I've been using the "same" desktop for 7-8 years. Besides minor upgrades, it works pretty well desu
>half the time
Your head is firmly in your ass
This. It's 99% of the time.
I've got a laptop and I use it like never.
I use my desktop for work and tablet for lounging.
My immediate friend circle is seven people
Three own up to date desktops with one owning a laptop for work purposes, too; the rest own Macbooks
My parents own a desktop + laptop, uncles only own desktops, cousins have high end phones + desktops, my Nan has two desktops
So whilst you're not /entirely/ wrong, my anecdotal evidence shows you're also full of hyperbolic shit
I live in not-America, though, so PCs are gonna be doing better in general for me
Why do white men still fuck their wives in 2016?
If your wife is horny you can just hire a black escort who will fuck her deeper and harder than a white penis possibly could.
>implying i can get my 2 hdds and 2 ssds in a laptop
>implying a laptop has ports for my 3 monitors
>implying a laptop has enough usb ports
>implying that having to plug and unplug in my monitors/keyboard/etc peripherals every time i want to use the laptop as a LAPTOP isnt cumbersome as shit
im neither a content creator or a heavy gamer, but youre a retard
In the majority of the US there is no public transportation and even when there is it is shit.
>implying any of that can't be handled with a docking station
Look at this rube
You don't have to use the 1 USB port Mac user.
I have 3 SSDs in my laptop and one 5TB external, that's all I need as far as storage goes.
I also have two monitors attached to it.
If they were Thunderbolt monitors, I could daisychain them and just keep on adding to the number.
There's also a mouse and a macro pad attached to this thing.
It's essentially a desktop replacement, that I can simply pick up and use as a normal laptop when needed.
>That form factor.
Is that a 4U chassis that got a ton of plastic around it?
Why do people own personal toilets in 2016?
If you need to empty your bowels just use the shitting streets, much cleaner and more convenient than any toilet you can afford.
t. Pajeet
not just Sup Forums, but many places got flooded with retards that otherwise would rarely use internet.
You're a fucking tard. You're assuming that everyone lives in the city. I used to live in the suburbs and the bus system there was shit. If I didn't live in the city now I would never use public transit.
>I'm one of the enlightened ones
Do you even have friends.
>can't name a single person who has a desktop.
>i just did in a split second.
Because cloud computing deals with network latency and I can't airgap a cloud system that gets compromised
Why do people still buy houses?
If you need a space to live just rent.
>I could daisychain them and just keep on adding to the number.
Nope, shows what you know. Only 1 display per TB port is allowed.
