That's not a Nokia N8. That phone was for poorfags.

> Good media player

Too bad it's actually reallly fucking shitty. It's so fucking slow. Loading my list of 2GB+ music slows it down to a crawl

The sound chip in this thing is fucking godlike though

it used to look so cool :'(

Masterrace coming through.

>Symbian S60
It's actually S40, my bad

It was released 3 years before. N8 is pretty solid too but I prefer the 5310 design.

It only gets slow when refreshing the library here

It's still looking cool.

nah

Still have it, still use it.

Bretty cool

I want one of these, It's still possible to get a brand new?

>>awsome design
If you like your media buttons getting pressed inside your pocket or by accident and suddenly blasting music everywhere, sure

I had this phone, it was garbage, tiny ass uncomfortable keyboard and just shit in general

>10mm thick
Literally doesn't matter

>external storage support
You mean like Android

>accessible filesystem
You mean like Android

>can be used as mass storage
You mean like Android

>Symbian S60
Garbage

>good media player
Maybe

>good DAC
Maybe, it doesn't matter because you can't even hear the music clearly if you're on the go unless you have 100% isolation

>java gaymens
Shit performance, shit games

>removable battery that last at least 4 days of normal use or 20h of heavy use
That's the least you should expect from a phone that advertises itself as a PMP

>Nokia
By the time XpressMusic phones came out Nokia was already on the brink of death so who cares

>external storage support
Apple decided i don't need a feature like that.
>accessible filesystem
Apple decided i don't need a feature like that.
>can be used as mass storage
Apple decided i don't need a feature like that.

>Nokia
Who cares.

>mfw my 5700 died some weeks ago

It still amazed me how normalfags got impressed by the rotating keyboard and camera, and the multimedia keys where perfect for gba games on vbag as you could map them as A/B and leave the keyboard for the d-pad/L/R.

java applets
>shit performance
>shit security

+Nokia is just a fucking meme brand stuck in the past with no innovation

best phone

Nokia is dead bro

>If you like your media buttons getting pressed inside your pocket...
Literally never happened to me. The buttons are designed to not be pressed easily, they even need more than average pressure to work.

>Literally doesn't matter
For you.

>You mean like Android
Exactly.

>You mean like Android
Exactly.

>You mean like Android
Exactly. It's even faster because it's not fucking MTP.

>Garbage
It's not.

>Maybe
.

>Maybe, it doesn't matter because you can't even hear the music clearly if you're on the go unless you have 100% isolation
ok

>Shit performance, shit games
Wrong. The performance is enough even for running NES/GBC emulators. If you think they are bad it's your problem, not mine.

>That's the least you should expect from a phone that advertises itself as a PMP
Most Walkman's used to last like 18h

>By the time XpressMusic phones came out Nokia was already on the brink of death so who cares
It was good for 2007, the last year that Nokia dominated the market. The iPhone 1 was just too expensive for a phone ($599 vs something around $150).

I owned this phone, the shit was so fucking great. Agree OP.

>2016
>having a phone with a headphone jack

Android users living in the past, as usual

I... I want it again :'(

Yeah, i'll throw my 600 dollar sennheiser phones away and use the cheap ones from apple.

>$159 dollar Bluetooth ear buds
:^)

I loved that little thing! I remember debranding the firmware since i had the tmobile version, and using a gps program to override the lowest maximum brightness to go lower so i can use my phone in class during movies without lighting up my face. Good times. And also nokia was retarded and didnt pause multimedia when the headphones were unplugged so people around me heard what i was listening to occasionally.

Also nokia didnt implement micro usb charging for some stupid reason, so i soldered a jumper between the usb 5v and the charging port which worked perfect.

>muh dick

Android doesn't generally let you use mass storage. Some devices let you mount the SD card like that, but for internal storage you have to use MTP. Which is a miserable piece of Microsoft excrement that I could spend the next 72 hours ranting about without drawing breath.

A fucking toddler could write a better USB file transfer protocol. I don't even know how they fucked it up so badly. It has no features, no performance, no multitasking, ridiculous timeouts and was integrated into Windows by what I can only assume was a mentally retarded schizophrenic intern suffering from ADHD, so Windows Explorer freezes every time the Android-side driver misses a byte or something.

So, yeah, mass storage is a feature.

S T I L L N O 2 . 5 D S C R E E N S

>using a gps program to override the lowest maximum brightness
what

Same. They fixed it on later phones

NO NORMAL HEADPHONE JACK

Just get the new beats ones ;-))

woops

Would have been the best phone ever had it had a 3.5mm jack. Regardless, it was a pretty damn good phone.

>shit games
i've yet to find a motocross stunt-jump game on android as good as the random ones i used to download from pirate sites

I prefered the 5800 with it's resistive touchscreen and topkek symbian s60.

...

I think you post the wrong picture.

So what's the most advanced phone without internet?

>being able to have a straight face while presenting this
This is gold.

Fuck. Now i miss my w580.

>>Symbian S60
This was not actually a good thing. It made it too difficult to develop "apps" for. QT came way too late when developers already got locked into the android ecosystem.

>looks like shit
>really thick

It's actually S40 (Series 40) not Symbian.

Fucking this. OP can go succ a dick

All their platforms were kind of shit to develop for. Except maybe meego but I never had any practical experience.

Do you think Nokia would still be relevant if Elop never happened and they moved their phones to meego platform? Or had Android gained too much traction so it would basically end up being windows phone anyway?

>looks like shit
Yeah, a generic black piece of glass with a round button really looks better.
>really thick
Apple taught you that, right?
>literally any smartphone (even iphone) allows that
No, iPhone doesn't.
>read above
Yeah, not on iShit tho
>read above
Androids? Yes, it does, MTP but it does. iPhone? lol no.
>symbian is absolute trash
It's not Symbian.
>not really good
It does the job.
>read above
It really is.
>j2me
It's runs fine.
>just charge your phone overnight?
To last less than 5 hours of heavy use, even with the brightness set to the low, kek.

I used to have w595s, i loved that phone.
Build quality could have been better tho of those era sony ericsson phones

Oh man I liked that phone so much. I had a similar one, Nokia as well with the same features but it wasn't thin and with a metal back cover.

Nothing like transferring low quality porn videos with your mates at high school over Bluetooth

Also those who had Siemens phone were the popular kids cause they could send .jar games over IR/BT

I don't know they history very well, sorry.

This was the best fucking phone I've ever owned

> Symbian
Well, at least that's in some ways more modern than IOS, but it is still shit.

> good DAC
Pretty much every chink smartphone now has a DAC that is way better than the average person's best sound playback device.

> java gaymens
Java ME? Burn that shit - it is terrible regardless if you produce or consume it.

Hows the sound compared to the 5800XM

This. Never got why you had to install games on Nokias, you could just run then on other phones.

Had this phone, shit was so fucking good.

>To last less than 5 hours of heavy use, even with the brightness set to the low, kek.
Meanwhile in reality...

I don't know, I can't even find it's DAC.

Are there any cheap android devices with good audio quality?
I had to buy one for steam app, and got Galaxy S2 but the audio quality trough earphones is fucking garbage. I still listen to music through 5800XM.

verizon a shit
they stole all the best feature phones

Man, i has that same Nokia, it was pretty great. The battery lasted days and the screen was pretty good aswell. I really enjoyed it while i had it before someone stole it from y bag at school while playing baseball

> Are there any cheap android devices with good audio quality?
Most are just fine.

But eh, get or something.

>Maybe, it doesn't matter because you can't even hear the music clearly if you're on the go unless you have 100% isolation

even without good isolation, i suffered using my previous phone, the DAC was horrible and had no soundstage

holy kek

appletards will really buy anything for tim cuck

That's not what Yin Xing test shows
en.miui.com/thread-223244-1-1.html

>ranges from $200 to $299 on amazon new and unlocked

fuck outta here

Alias 2 is still my current phone, through Verizon.

It's almost like the tests were completely different, so they gave different results?

So how much video playback (youtube or stored modern medium) do you get out of that phone..?

>So how much video playback (youtube or stored modern medium) do you get out of that phone..?

I would use my smartphone or my PC for this, dumbass. The point here is that you can use this phone on full load for 20h and can't on newer ones. Now I've became interested, what is the criteria for this test? Is the brightness on 100%? Is the power saving on? What about the airplane mode?

>tfw had one of these
Why can't someone make something like this today.

Still the best phone I've ever had. Stupid smartphones just keep getting bigger and bigger. Got an S4 "mini" now and it's still way bigger.

Because physical phone buttons are outdated, the market for something with them is too small for the expense of developing a phone with them to be worth it.

> The point here is that you can use this phone on full load for 20h
You don't do processing power intense things on a feature phone and achieve a purely phone talking endurance of "Up to 5 h 20 min" ( specs on gsmarena.com/nokia_5310_xpressmusic-2087.php )

You don't do processing power intense things on a smartphone and achieve a purely phone talking endurance of 34:40 (measured).

Hmhm.

> what is the criteria for this test? Is the brightness on 100%? Is the power saving on? What about the airplane mode?
Both websites describe how they run their tests IIRC.

I am pretty sure they try to isolate the tests as much as easily possible, so the other stuff is usually turned off as much as possible?

>Up to 5 h 20 min

What a fucking lie, I've already spend more than 6 hours playing games on that shit and the battery was still like 60%.

>Nokia n8
Swiss army knife of a phone. Awesome shooter, camera still holds up against new smartphones. I had mine for a couple of years.

wanted so bad to have one of these

they still look classy as fuck

Nokia never had a chance. When Apple introduced the new, sexy touch-screen iPhones, Nokia was fucking done. Basically, what happened was that Nokia refused to change and re-invent themselves. Anything new was rejected as "nonsense". The company's leadership a decade back was very incompetent, arrogant and self-absorbed. Being the market leaders at the time, they naturally bought into the fallacy that it's going to stay that way forever. They felt invincible. Then greed hit them and they started to slash R&D funding to save money and create bigger profits, of course, increasing the worth of their personal stock portfolios in the process.

But this strategy stagnated Nokia badly. This was bad, because the world naturally moved on, and when the iPhones took the market by a storm, Nokia started panicking when the customers flocked en masse to buy the new shinies, instead of staying with the ugly old hags.

They tried to replace the aging Symbian OS with the Meego, but then the Microsoft buyout of Nokia's phone division happened. Elop threw Meego out in favor of the Windows phone OS, and soon after they hijacked the entire phone division to themselves. And that was it for Nokia as we remember it. Many Finnish shareholders felt very betrayed that day.

>iDrones will buy and defend this

Shiiee I remember that day I saw like this one. The green one. FUUUUUU MUH CHILDHOOD

The trick with the gps program was that it allowed you to set lower brightness values then the phone normally would, so if i opened it and minimized it before it set the brightness on loading, it would do so after it was minimized and stick instead of reverting to stock brightness when it was minimized.

retard 3.5 to lightning bitch
