4 years ago I would have just gotten mad and defensive, but at the tail end of my bachelors degree I can honestly say this is the only way to do a Linux distro.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with installing via a GUI.

The GUI itself is on the LiveCD (or whatever you're booting from). It has absolutely zero end effect on your installation. Theoretically you could install Gentoo or Slack from a GUI.
