Where do you have your taskbar?

I don't have a task bar, but I have a status bar at the top. Does that still count?

Sure, what ever works for you.

Results so far.

>not using a vertical taskbar
Enjoy those 600p vertical space on your 1366x768 craptop

What about GNOME and Dash to Dock
You have one at the top and one on the left

on windows:

bottom
>i don't know how to computer and i would rather waste screen realestate than move the taskbar

top
>same as bottom, but i also wish i had a mac

right
>i like accidentally hitting the close button of my windows

left
>doing it right

Blatantly correct choice.

middle

>not diagonally

>168px taskbar
whut

>ijmplinging that your taskbars, titlebars and other shit don't eat up the remaining space

>600p
>768-600=168
That's a huge panel, fag. It's like you compensate something with such huge size

"stop liking what I dont like" - the post.

>using toolbars

why is hidden not an option?

The last option.

hidden doesn't mean i don't use it you dip

Where is it hidden from?

Because it's still on one of those sides.

Kek

Oy vey!

Bottom is quite clearly superior. On a wide-screen monitor it leaves you with a massive amount of space to freely show full window titles. The icons are also easy to open thanks to their big size. Moving the cursor to the bottom is also rather easy. Top could be decent, but it really conflicts with window frames (can't close full-screen windows by moving to screen top edge, can't work with browser tabs as easily)

Both left and right are pretty dumb since they don't even allow you to view window titles without making the bar huge. Also the argument about vertical space is dumb, a bottom bar takes a negligible amount of vertical space. And in fact vertical space is more abundant than horizontal space if you have two windows side-by-side.

>[current year]
>using a taskbar

>And in fact vertical space is more abundant than horizontal space if you have two windows side-by-side.
Cherry picking much?

At least personally I almost never have just one window taking up the horizontal space. There's always browser window occupying the left half if nothing else.

I've had it left till i moved up and bought 2 monitors.

Then your an edge case.
That isn't a problem, but it's not the norm.

>left
I'll have to try this after work.

are there seriously more people here who use taskbar on top than taskbar on the left?

top of my 2nd monitor.

autohidden at the top of my secondary screen. i removed any window switching functionality because there are better methods

Really now? What's a better method than directly clicking to the window you wanna go to?

...

i move it frequently.

i3 doesn't need a taskbar, but i have a statusbar at the top. it's at the top because hierarchy.
>inb4 left and right
hurr vertical text durr

>window titles
The windows have icons for a reason, user
Also on something like Gnome 2 or XFCE you can the names listed vertically

Problem with that is that it gets messy when there's more windows, and it will be hard to locate the one you're looking for since they're not always visible.

But yeah it's fine

>using a taskbar
>not using i3 with glorious dmenu masterrace
Enjoy your absolute zero productivity, winbabbies.

>2016
>having a task bar
>not using Windows Server Core as your desktop OS

>two actions is better than one action
>there is nothing in my tray

yes, in most cases those two actions are faster

applications that create tray icons are cancer

>tfw your OS is cancer

well yes, it is gpl licensed

Just a PSA:

It's possible to make the taskbar thinner using '7+ Taskbar Tweaker'. Just 1 icon instead of 2. Pic related, my setup

Protip: compare the widths of mine and yours.

>not having a bottom taskbar on autohide

How?

>having a taskbar

>bottom
>>i don't know how to computer and i would rather waste screen realestate than move the taskbar
>implying I want taskbars on the left or right in a multi-monitor setup with screens side by side
>implying I want taskbars on the left or right on a portrait monitor.
That would be pretty retarded

Right click on taskbar icon, advanced settings, set no width limit to 1. It can be resized now, and you can hide the 7+ icon after that.

Top just because it's default in bbZero. Left and right are pure cancer, bottom is alright.

Monitor on the right is a TV I use to get comf when watching movies.

>horssefucker

left on my right screen

thank you!!!

rarity > luna

left in wangblows
top or without in loonix

Does my wm bar count, if so top.

>Windows 10
>Pony faggot

Not surprised tbqh.

Rarara a shit.
Fucking blind.

Bottom, auto-hidden.
>tfw I'm also an anti-minimalist oversized dock-using monster

>not having a taskbar

>wasting screen space on such a useless thing

What do you mean? Mine's of about ~30px.

>buying a mac

JUST LOCK ME UP

I meant that you should look at the width of mine. And compare it to yours.

task bar on top master race

>implying there's anything wrong with that
This is an 18+ website.

Default is always best

...

>Not upgrading for free
Even more of an idiot than I thought.

kys loser.

>taking a free downgrade when you can just not downgrade

>bottom
>i don't know how to computer and i would rather waste screen realestate than move the taskbar
You have a small monitor, son.

>left
>doing it right
That's where the icons go. Can't click the icons if the taskbar keeps popping up.

>not having it set to autohide

>Windows 10
>Downgrade

Kek. Enjoy your shitty Metro, Balmer.

"auto-hide"

Is very buggy but the best option to be honest.

>having it at all

>Windows 10
>upgrade
Metro is 1000x better than the clusterfuck that is Windows 10.

I just use the classic shell to have my regular windows 7 style start menu and do not worry about learning the newest configurations.

>not having your taskbar 3 units wide on the bottom of your portrait monitor

I actually like the aesthetics, and apps view is easier to navigate than classic style tree view, you can even sort it in different ways. But I understand why many people don't like it. Overall, 8.1 is more consistent because the desktop part is largely unchanged.

RARARARA > WOONA

...

AYYYYYYY /MLPG/
You're wrong.

Sad to see most of you faggots still ise taskbars instead of glorious tilling wms and keybindings

left
>looks ugly as shit but at least I saved 10 vertical pixels so i can have an extra line of text on my screen

>MLPG

I'm right.

thank fuck

...

So many fucking greenposts it's making me sick

If you have a taskbar and aren't making it autohide on the left then you haven't truly lived yet

Both, MATE master race.

>not having 4 taskbars on every side of his screen
Fucking plebeians.

>The windows have icons for a reason, user
What about when you have multiple windows of the same application you fucking pineapple

>pacman broke x again

Then they are grouped together like this
