You fell for the 8 GB memory

>you fell for the 8 GB memory

.... m-m-meme?

I need more.

I remember falling for the 4 GB meme 5 years ago. Gave my bro the 4 and bought 8.

it's good enough for normies but i usually have a billion tabs open

>One day 32GBs of RAM will be average...

It's actually

8 GiB.

Your screenshot even says so!

Good catch! You must be really good with computers!

I have this issue too, keep running out of RAM. It really annoys me when faggots tell people looking for advice that "they don't need more than 8GB". It's like a $30 difference, and you're telling him to get a $300 video card with 8GB memory? Fucking idiots. Just get the 16GB. Why the fuck wouldn't you?

You are wrong, my screenshot says 7.7GiB which actually happens to be 8GB.

Where did you find a RAM module with 7.7 GiB?
I suspect your program is simply wrong.

>Where did you find a RAM module with 7.7 GiB?
In every place where they sell 8GB rams?

There are no 8 GB RAM modules.
Only 8 GiB.
JEDEC is wrong.
IEC, ISO, NIST and SI agree.

>There are no 8 GB RAM modules.
There are everywhere, are you stupid?

>Only 8 GiB.
And this is wrong, there are no 8 GiB RAM modules.

>JEDEC is wrong.
>IEC, ISO, NIST and SI agree.
How is this related to anything? Are you dumb?

JEDEC for lyfe, others can suck my dick.
Only because HDD producers don't make 2^10 gigabytes, it doesn't mean I should support their jewing policy.

it's funny how instead of improving our software we just add more hardware to handle our incompetence.

maybe when we reach a hardware limit software will start getting decent again

i find it more depressing. a lot of time ago people would think for a week if the need a new varible. now it's just "let's add it XD"

Because no 30 dollars, bulk-consumer.

I bet you're on chrome

That's because software development got commercialized. Now you can either make commercially successful software but it will work with gazillions of computing power, either unsuccessful software working with every teapot just because your competitor made his software earlier.

I did fall for the 8GB memory meme, and I'm already hitting a brickwall with my VMs.
I'll eventually upgrade to 16GB sooner than later.

I am actually on firefox esr. It uses ~2.2GiB when I start it. It's at 2.7 right now.

SI units with RAM are a rather dumb idea, considering current and past DRAM architecture.
I'd have guessed this a some igp our other device sipping some ram.

>tfw bought 16GB to futureproof
>thought it'd take 10 years before that amount is obsolete
>two years later DDR4 is mainstream and I need to buy new memory for my build again
>could have saved few yuropcoins with 8GB without any performance penalty
