I've had duckduckgo as my default search engine for months because I wanted to get away from the Google Jew. This search engine is terrible and would not find results for what I wanted even if I would find what I was looking for with google, then pasted the exact title of the page into duckduckgo's search.
I've decided to just not give a shit anymore and go back to the Google Jew because I would always end up just typing in google.com since duckduckgo wouldn't find shit 70% of the time. I was still using Youtube as well anyway.
What does the rest of Sup Forums have to say about duckduckgo?

ive used it and it works fine. bing also works fine.
google is only "good" if you want to type one word to get to the same page you visit over and over again, because it remembers the shit you do. besides that, theres really no major difference and google is evil as fuck so its worth not using their services. also encourage you to install brave browser instead of chrome. firefox isnt even competitive since its filled with sjws that dont know how to code and dont know what theyre doing.

The duckduckgo search box itself has always given shitty results, but may be slowly improving now. I use ddg for the bangs. There's so many you can just try something and it usually works, where if you created 10,000,000 search keywords, you'would never remember them all. I probably use !g !gi or !gri 90% of the time. I like it better than startpage because advanced search operators get passed to google, whereas with startpage, they don't.

This has nothing to do with the software. I'm not being paid to do anything. I've been on Sup Forums much longer than I've been at Google, I tell things like they are. This has nothing to do with the software If you don't sign in you aren't being personally identified anyway. Your advertising ID is linked to your Google account or to cookies. There are also "analytics-opt-out" extensions for most browsers (though not developed in house). Really, you can refuse cookies from third parties to block analytics though. We don't use anything foul or unfair to track you beyond this.

Searx has shitty defaults (mixes in Yahoo & Bing), one of the shittiest layouts imaginable (good luck searching for images), as well as little-to-no convenience features (e.g. calculator, unit conversion, what's my ip?, etc). Also you fucks clearly don't know about the DDG bang feature, which allow you to get generic results from HUNDREDS of other searches.
Personally, I use Google because I don't give a fuck about the privacy of my search data, and its functionality is overall better than DDG. If they explicitly asked me for my search data and if they could sell it, I would say yes. I could say no, but why not help a company whose products I enjoy for free?
I do think it's fucked up that they don't give you a choice, or even worse, they give the illusion of choice. Ideally companies should be as transparent as possible with what they do with user data, and to give users a choice regarding that.
