Why does every DE looks like shit...

Why does every DE looks like shit? The only acceptable and that actually looks like something made by a professional is Unity.

Programmers design things to suit their personal preferences and not the "preferences" regurgitated to them by expensive think-tanks and focus groups.

I like gnome3. None of the other DE's feel as comfy

Looks alright to me, you must have autism

DEs are supposed to get the fuck out of the way and let you work
If you want something to look at, open your hentai folder on slideshow

Cinnamon looks good if you customize it. It's trash in terms of stability, but it looks good

b-but muh customizability... :'(

>transparancies
>professional

That applies to Unity too.

>unity
>professional

Also, just use a wm, not a DE.
DE are useless.

Most coders have no taste. They don't notice stuff that hurts the eyes of normal people.
That's why most application UIs are terrible. Especially FOSS stuff. Audacity and GIMP, I'm looking at you.

Jobs told Gates that he had no taste. Gates shrugged and said he had lots of money.

because only autists know how to code them.

this

papyros.io

was a good initiative but its fucking dead.

what about KDE op?

Well, fuck them.

Are you implying it's the coders who work on the design?

gnome is pretty good. The others are glitchy. i experience really bad screen tearing with them. i don't know how to fix it

This, not a linux user but yesterday installed Kubuntu on a VM and I must say it's quite pleasing to look at, even more so than winblows or macos

>Not using i3wm

Used to be ugly as fuck. Recently it became quite nice, but it's more bloated and slow than ever.

I like Cinnamon and Mate. I'm pretty new but the other de's I tried (kde and xfce) are awful and don't seem to work very well

I could give a shit about if it looks pretty, if I want le pretty I'll go buy a mac. I just want a DE that 'works on my machine'

>Based on arch Linux

Why is the allowed?

I'm gonna recommend you install gentoo.

*this

>Using a DE
>Actually starting x.org

i like mate

>autism

Seems like it is still being slowly worked on:

Cinnamon is the best looking DE.

Unity and GNOME 3 are both dogshit, use literally anything else.

Someone finally has some taste on Sup Forums. Unity fucking rules.

solid xfeces

Gallium has been continually updated and looks like ChromeOS but better
