It doesn't save as much as you think it does. Besides, you really shouldn't be looking at your homescreen enough for that to even matter. Black wallpapers on lockscreens would have a larger impact if you check the time and your notifications a lot.

Is it possible to make the notification bar not move everything else on the homescreen? I'm using nova launcher and want to have a widget replacing the vast majority of the notification bar's functionality. I would however like to be able to pull up the bar easily for what the widget doesnt capture. That's simple enough with a "toggle notification bar" action button, but the appearance of the new bar moves everything else, which tickles my autism.
