Slowpoke but why the fuck did Apple stop selling this screen?
I know there are good alternatives, but I currently have had mine for years and wanted to get a new one at work. The non-display features of it were also really great and I feel like I'm going to miss those unless I buy some other overpriced monitor.
So anyone know if they have these in backorder somewhere? Or something with same features? Getting stressed out over the change, help my autism please guys.
Dell buy the same panels and have better stands that can do shit. Apple monitors are for show in "classy" boutiques.

>W10 dropped

just don't run w10 on it?
William Parker
Then it won't work. It was literally designed for Win10
Connor Lopez
>why the fuck did Apple stop selling this screen? Because Thunderbolt 1 and 2 are old hat, and 1440p is long in the tooth. They shifted more of the design back to the panel OEM, the new LG UltraFine or whatever.
Justin Campbell
Because they only sold 10 a year at 200% of the competition's pricing

Where is the apple logo? what the fuck is Lucky Goldstar? Apple is dead and buried
Daniel Wilson
Putting the LG logo on "their" new monitors makes no sense at all. I wonder what made them make that decision.
>Where is the apple logo? open it up, there should be some. being able to control the brightness within macOS should need some Apple controller.
Kevin Reyes
that top bezel is the most disgusting thing i've ever seen
David Morgan
That was a full retard move.
Yes, there's no money in the display biz but that was never the point. Apple took premium displays, tacked a bit of aluminum and tacked a few hundred quid on the price (which barely makes the overhead for this nonsense) and sold it.
The bean counter Tim Cook looked at it and said "oy vey, we're not making money off this goys" and dropped it.
Thing is, making money was never the point with these displays. It was to put the Apple logo up and front in every design studio, fancy office, places where people aspired to be. Now they lost that.

What the fuck are you talking about. You can run macOS on this thing with little to no effort.
Dominic Howard
>The bean counter Tim Cook looked at it and said "oy vey, we're not making money off this goys" and dropped it. Apple display was cut very late. We have rumors of it that are only 2 months old. And, Sierra already got full eGPU support due to the new Apple display with a eGPU. macvidcards.com/blog/macos-sierra-had-native-egpu-support

So development cost was already spent. Releasing it would not cost any more new money but bring in the margins.

its not apple
John Walker
>no mobile geforce drivers >no wifi/bluetooth drivers >no pen input drivers >no drivers or software support for the dial Yeah, no.
That's the followup, Apple claims to have helped develop it.

>Buying electronics from goldstar

No need to make monitors if they're killing off the pro and mini.
Their product line of computers will be:
Macbook pro - touch bar edition Macbook pro - 'student' edition Macbook pro - fashion accessory edition Macbook pro - big screen edition
Carter Hall
Apple is truly fucked that would have been a genuinely innovative product.
Aiden Stewart
Wow. That's actually sad.

>why the fuck did Apple stop selling this screen? Same reason they got out of printers. They sell stuff they believe that the marketplace doesn't make as well as they can. Once the market matures and the OEMs build good enough stuff with Mac drivers there's no need for Apple to keep turning out low-margin stuff that's basically a distraction from their core business.
