Let's say you were offered a custom laptop that was built precisely to your specifications but only using technology available today.

What would its features and specs be?

i7-6970HQ
iris pro 580 graphics
T H I C C battery
1080p IPS 13" screen
500GB samsung 960 pro ssd

TI-89 Silver Edition

>1080p or above IPS matte screen in the style of a dell xps
>hardware (especially replaceable and external battery)/keyboard/buttons in the style of a thinkpad
>mousepad in the style of a macbook

I don't care for cpu/graphics very much in a laptop

quad core cortex a72 with open bootloader + firmware
4gb ddr4 ram
64gb emmc 5.1
4:3 15.6 inch monitor at high resolution
built in 4g module + telephony processor
large touchpad + large keyboard
good bass speakers at the sides of keyboard
high quality mic so I can take calls while coding

A 2016 15" MBP with various ports all along the sides.

The new macbook pro

i5 6300U
two m.2 slots
2.5" bay for storage
12.5" 1600x900 IPS screen anti glare
6cell to 12 cell batteries that are easily changeable
dock option with optical bay and extra storage slots

>ThinkPad T420 with 1080p IPS display, keeping the design and all
>no touchpad
>no webcam
>latest i7 HQ processor with adequate cooling for it
>no dGPU at all only iGPU but having Thunderbolt 3 to make an eGPU setup
>16GB DDR4 RAM
>make the msata slot an M.2 slot or two

2016 MBP i7 with a nvidia 1060, remove the two slow USBC for 1 regular USB and a mSD slot.

Pretty much the new razer blade with the 1060, except in Dell XPS 15 body.

This please.

>tfw no decent thinkpad retro because gookovo will fuck it up somehow
also sauce

>2x16 Xeons running at 2 ghz or 1 running at 3 ghz
>Dual Graphics card Nvidia 1080 with a Firepro card for openCL operation and or running VM's with passthrought.
>64 GB's of RAM.
>17" inch screen FHD with Stylus option (not touch)
>Smaller side screen (see thinkpad w700)
>Brushed aluminum with powder coating.
>USB 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0 (For legacy purposes)
>2 full speed Thunderbolt connectors.
>Legacy Thunderbolt Hub (VGA,DVI,Serial, etc...)
>4g module with telephony capabilities.
>4x1 SSD M.2 and 2 3.5 SSD's that are hotswappable
>Clit Mouse with well positioned buttons with the ability of clicking on tap.
>Full size keyboard+ touchpad
>Dual 10 gig-E and 1 SPF port.
>10 Year Libreboot Support.
>UEFI that can actually allow you to chose OS instead of using the OS bootloaders.

I think thats everything.

you'd need to suck alotta dicks for a machine like that user, not that you'd mind it

I would if it'd made them mass produce one... having one built on demand would force me to drop 15 to 20 large on a thing that would be obsolete after 3 years.

we just need some applel like marketing to gain motivation to mass produce I suppose
you can start with mine fag :3

My T500, only with a high-res screen and modern CPU/graphics. And USB 3 and an SD card reader that works properly in Linux, that'd be nice.

>Thinkpad T60 Chassis/Keyboard
>i7 6700HQ
>9 Cell battery
>1600x1200 Resolution OLED screen
>16GB RAM
>850 Pro 500GB SSD
>DVD Drive replaced with 2TB 2.5 HDD

i blew a load in my pants just from reading this post, thanks for the fap user

literally this

>he desires about a screen that has less pixels than the original one
lmao
USB 3.0 and 3.1 Type A do support legacy modes.
>10 Year Libreboot Support.
>UEFI that can actually allow you to chose OS instead of using the OS bootloaders.
Libreboot already can be a bootloader.
>17" inch screen FHD with Stylus
>FHD
Oh cmon, have you seen recent microsoft tablets?
>4x1 SSD M.2 and 2 3.5 SSD's that are hotswappable
>Dual 10 gig-E and 1 SPF port.
That would consume 20+ lanes of pcie, where are you supposed to have your gpus?

>he needs an excessive amount of pixels so that he can boast like an idiot

It would be a desktop.

You must already have bad eyesight or willing to have it in 10 years. Even Papa Loonis said that high DPI screens areessential for reading and writing texts.

11 inch 4k oled convertible with a ULV cpu and a low end nvidia gpu (maybe a 1050) large capacity nvme ssd would be a must. Would also need decent battery life

>11 inch
>ULV cpu
>1050
So, you basically want to add a 40W chip with a performance of Iris graphics?
I'm not even saying, iy is not possible to fit it in given 10-12 pcie lanes alongside with your nvmeme ssd and wifi, if you would ever like to have some kind of connectivity.

I could jump down to a normal SATA ssd to keep it within reason. That gpu was just a suggestion, I would just want something for light gaming

>

Just ask what to buy, nigger.

10 inch detachable keyboard convertible with a lower end amd apu. Would need to have at least an 8k screen for use in a custom vr headset. One of those 3.84 tb samsung ssds 16GB ram, and it would need a thunderbolt port for external gpus

Some nice quad core i7 (doesn't need to be a high end model)
Gtx 1060 for muh gaming
16gb ram
500gb SSD, in whatever standard
1080p in a 12" or 13" screen
At least 6 hours battery
Really nice touch pad
720p webcam
3x USB 3.0
2x thunderbolt 3 (mostly for video out with adapters)
2x combo headphone jack
Gbit Ethernet
A nice touch pad
A comfy keyboard
Thin, but not retardly thin
Less than 1.5kg
Magsafe-like charger
All of that for less than a grand

>laptop
>my specifications
impossible because I require a screen at least 48" large.

T440s but with a good touchpad and the fn and ctrl buttons not swapped
Bonus points if lighter and less noisy fan

4.3 10inch OLED screen
Butterfly keyboard
Solid magnesium chassis
Fanless Core-M
pcie ssd
50+wh battery

No. I started this thread because I was wondering why no laptops with easily upgradeable parts were manufactured and then that got me thinking about some kind of standardized platform for laptops for the future.

We're past the days of propriety form motherboards in desktops, why not some kind of standard in laptops that give the user a range of bays to customize?

Ask Intel in the first place. Why don't they produce thick socketed CPUs anymore?

>matte screen
You are the cancer that ruins "business class" laptops

Glossy shit is for faggots

2*4TB SSD
256GB ram
almost square screen
hardware buttons for pretty much everything
libre wifi chip
SDR inside
expansion slots
powerfull gpu
POWER8 SCM
libreboot
mousepad with physical buttons
one of those nipple thingies
selected stickers all over the back
dual hdmi, coupla usb3 ports, capable of charging on any input voltage 10 v
huge battery pack
all connectors are actually just converters plugged into dupont headers on the mobo, slimlined with the outside of the laptop
and ofc, everything's modular, easily serviceable and updateable
all pcb designs are free as in freedom
so are all chip designs
no binary blobs
floss from the bytecode up
all in a classic thinkpad package

another option would be like a libretto 50m but with huge spec boost and normal connectors

Glossy screens are illegal at German workplaces.
