Got a DMCA notice. Is there anyway I can anonymously download torrents without the use of a VPN? Or an alternative to bittorrent when it comes to piracy

you should migrate to brazil download what you need and go back to us

Lol
But seriously. Is there a preferably free way to stop companies and your isp from tracking you? I don't mind data mining if I get my Lana Del Ray albums.

Just use a fucking seedbox. They're cheap, fast, and keep the feds out of your ass.

Show the DMCA notice? Blank out any personal details if you must.

It's a huge long email that I would prefer not to censor it. It's from century Link. It included the filenames of the files within the torrents if that matters.

>century Link
Time to change your isp user

filestream.me

>download all the time
>seed about 5tb a month
>finally get a DMCA
>"awesome, I've made it to the big leagues"
>its from Brazzers

I still live with my parents and they have the final stay my dude. I've practically begged them to switch but it's the cheapest option for their use.

...

Just get an ISP, they are cheap as fuck for amerifats god damn it
And you could even get the CIA's OFFICIAL VPN called PIA, torrent a fuckton just no CP and you will be fine as fuck because the CIA FBI AND NSA DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR CHINESE CARTOONS BUT THE JEWS ONLY CARE ABOUT THAT

I would laugh my ass if the feds once got a HDD full of anime without illegal shit and was a waste of time to see all those pictures though
Kek

Its mainly new release movies for me and my mom to watch together. The file I did get in trouble though was for Carly Rae Jespen album I downloaded.

It's time to fuck with your parents then.
>go to 192.168.1.1
User:Admin/Pass:password
>start blocking sites your parents use like Facebook, Pinterest, Jewtube, Pornhub...
>wait a few days, or a day
>if parents ask, say you think the wifi got hacked, and they should switch like you suggested
>try to fix it
>open cmd
>spam 'tree' and move the mouse really fast
>say the only option is to switch
>success?

no OP. there's no way to do it without paying some money.

you could get a VPN but for torrenting that would be retarded. get a dedicated seedbox.

>new release movies
Oh shit nigger what are you doing, they had to hunt you down eventually
>The file I did get in trouble though was for Carly Rae Jespen album I downloaded.
Strange

just get the vpn goy.

dude, I've gotten like 50 of those so far xD
ISPs have to send them, but usually they don't give a shit

Is Peerblock not effective?

Mcdonald's wifi.

a VPN will add a hop but still leave you responsible for all the uploading and downloading that goes on with torrenting. so if you download a 100GB compilation of some porn or something and you seed it at 10x, you're uploading 1TB and downloading 100GB (plus some change in case hashes don't check out or whatever). and by adding a hop you're necessarily slowing down your transfer.

this is all insanely wasteful and resource-intensive. the VPN is basically just a computer that's routing traffic for you. unless you're doing relatively arbitrary stuff (that is, more than torrenting), you're always better off with a seedbox. let that machine run 24/7 and seed directly from that box to whomever. the only hit on bandwidth that you'll incur at your home will be the (presumably one) download from the seedbox to your computer.

They will probably try to blame it on the request. They're old as fuck and are paranoid as shit about stuff like this. I'll give it a try though.
It's not me that's worried. It's my dumbass parents. I just want to get around it so they don't send another one.
Actually considered. Kinda want to hide a pi there and use it as a shit seedbox.

>Kinda want to hide a pi there and use it as a shit seedbox.
where? in your home? that's not solving your problem. if you're talking about hiding a raspberry pi and using someone else's network, i'm pretty sure you'd face similar extreme criminal charges as aaron schwartz got, so good luck with that.

it sounds like your best option is to grow up, move out, and figure shit out. you keep blaming all these problems on your parents when it's clearly your choice to not work hard enough to be capable of moving out.

no it is not

IPs and hostnames change all the time (and quickly), there's just no way you can block every "bad" IP all the time

>What is a student?
They refused my request to change ISPs so I'm trying to find another way. I'm not saying it's their fault I'm just saying I need a way around it.

that's not even the problem. if the MPAA wanted to take you to court, then it's true that an effective version of peerblock would be somewhat helpful in that case (because the court requires evidence that you're distributing copyrighted content, and a program that blocks that deprives them of that evidence).

but your ISP forwards DMCA complaints usually with no evidence whatsoever. they get a list of IP addresses and a threat of a lawsuit and the ISP usually just forwards the letter to the subscriber.

this process isn't part of judicial law. a cease & desist isn't approved by a judge on the basis of legally admitted evidence or anything like that. it's basically a formal accusation. and the fact that ISPs tacitly accept them as factual is troubling for a handful of reasons, one of them being that ISPs can elect to suspend your service for violating their terms, and might use these C&D letters or DMCA complaints as evidence of it.

to be clear, you can sue your ISP for dropping your service for a reason that you feel lacked evidence. but you will be fighting a battle to prove that they had no evidence of actual wrongdoing (just implications of it), and that's a long, uphill battle for which you probably don't have a legal team on retainer. but the ISP do.

peerblock is effectively useless in the practical world in which we live. the reality is that most of the bad things that can happen to you for torrenting copyrighted content can happen to you without the MPAA, RIAA, etc... meeting the relatively high bar that courts set for proof that you're doing something wrong.

what are you, a high school student? grow up and move out.

and stop talking about this like you're an adult trying to negotiate with a bureaucracy — "they refused my request to change ISPs", you cried about it and mom and dad told you to fuck off because you don't appreciate that you're probably among the ~80% of people in the US who have 1 option (if that) for ISPs offering 25Mbps. so if you're lucky, maybe your parents could switch to some piece of shit ISP instead so that *maybe* you can torrent without getting DMCA complaints (and hell, maybe not; it's possible the 1 other choice you have operates on exactly the same policy)

Or just get a seed box you cheap fuck.

Are you 12?

Let me build on this guy's point. You have century link as an ISP... think about that for a second.. It's probably cheap as fuck for your parents to to maintain. Do you really think they want to go through the hassle of having some asshole come out and install a new shitty router with a new password that they will inevitably forget. Then, after the installer is done, he'll drive away laughing because he's gotten an earful of your parents saying "we did this because our son got one them there take down notices and we don't want to get anymore".

You must really hate your parents if you want them to go through all of that.

Cont.

Or you're trolling and you need a life. Possibly a waifu. No... Wait.. You don't even deserve that.

Lost at ASS DRIVE (read it last)

there's that too, but the options argument isn't really an exaggeration. 97% of census blocks have — at most — 2 choices for ISPs delivering 25mbps or better.

even if switching WERE easy (and like you said, it's a fucking nightmare), your parents have probably thought about this more than "hey will timmy be able to fuck up all of our downloads torrenting copyrighted movies or will he get in trouble?"; they very likely had 1 option, or maybe 2, and maybe the other option is dog shit.

so imagine going through everything described, possibly paying more for service (because presumably your parents with the best value and you're now making them choose the other one), and after all that fucking shit you STILL get a DMCA complaint, because ISP #2 doesn't bother to differentiate itself on this dimension (because adopting a policy of telling the MPAA to fuck off is expensive and demands a competent team of attorneys).

if you're in the US, you're probably fucked on the ISP front. there are no good options, there's no escape, that's it, it just sucks. i live in the US and i'm not going to pretend it's less shitty than it is. but accepting that means i can move on to *solutions* to a shitty situation rather than deny it. and the viable solutions are to get a VPN (not a great option for the above reasons) or get a seedbox from a company that's either out of reach or willing to invest in a team of attorneys to beat back lawsuits from copyright trolls.

and again, don't co-opt someone else's network to torrent copyrighted content. that's going to attract law enforcement attention, and the high level details of that kind of shit look sketchy as fuck, so it'll get bumped up to higher level LEOs than your backwater town's sheriff, and they'll threaten to put pressure on you like they would on a terrorist like they did with aaron swartz, whose crime was literally just downloading and sharing academic papers from JSTOR.

sorry forgot this for the first bit

also i used "you" to refer to in some cases and to the OP in others and that's incredibly confusing and frankly retarded of me. sorry about that.

i2p and enable anonymous mode on qbittorrent.

Don't worry mang. I picked up what you put down.

here's a protip op

stop being a cheapass and a faggot.

not just a cheapass faggot, but a cheapass and a faggot.

I guess you're right. Is the an alternative to bittorrent then? I've read some things about open directories and getting stuff from there, but they usually don't have the stuff I'm looking for.
I'm pirating stuff because I don't have money. I help my parents pay bills and shit and work full time.
I'll do some more research on it.
Yeah, I guess I do sound like an asshole. I just didn't know how to put it at the time.

Just be careful what you download you idiot. Know the shit that's going to get you caught.

What seedbox should I buy? I have 100 down at home, 22 down on my phone (true unlim 4g), and having VPN support would be cool.

>being so stupid that you torrent shit nonstop

literally just take a fucking break from torrenting you dumb shit

FFS if you just limit your torrenting nobody fucking cares, it's when you go full fucking retard that you get DMCAs, and even then all you have to do is cut back for a few months

Same question.

Get a better ISP, and configure your torrent client to block IP ranges that may be tied with the RIAA and whatever other industries that push DMCA notices. Just Google "(your client) ip blacklist" or something.

Just pay for a torrent-friendly VPN, you Jew.

>IPs and hostnames change all the time

I would wager a lot of companies use static IPs.

Regardless, an imperfect solution is nonetheless *a* solution, and *a* solution is better than doing nothing at all. You're decreasing the likelihood that these companies will be monitoring your activities.

>Carly Rae Jespen
that's what you get for listening to a nigger lover's drivel.

What's a good public tracker to use now that Pirate Bay's fucked and kickasstorrents doesn't exist? Is there one that's taken the place of supremacy those had?

I've switched to using a bunch of trackers good at different things.
I get my music from metaltracker(open reg) and rutracker for trance
anime from nyaa.se
games from fitgirl-repacks.site
I don't really watch movies but I still use tpb for them

use private trackers retard

go to opentrackers and wait for a movie/tv tracker to have open invites, then you're good to go

He just asked for a way around it to make everyone happy you raging cunt

Just pay $5 a month for a decent VPN you nigger

>i live with my parents

oh nevermind then, $5 must be a lot.

> He still lives home with his parents

>Is there anyway I can anonymously download torrents without the use of a VPN?
Yes, usw a socks5 proxy within your torrent Client

that's just too much trouble

underageb&

i2p

>ITT: OP gets roasted by Sup Forums
This is great

Not OP does anyone know if CyberGhost is a good VPN? It's on sale on humble bundle for $7.xx cent for a whole year. Anyone know if they are as good as PIA?

redpill me on seed boxes

>He still browses the chins

>he still uses the internet
