Daily reminder that not everyone is as retarded as you.

>im not using all 250gb of my ssd
>therefore no one would ever need to use more than 250gb of ssd

Thanks OP

SSDs do wonders for VMs, which take up a lot of space.

Actually, 128 is enough. I even manage to keep two systems on it.

Ive got a 32gb ssd for the system and its more than enough. Running debian.

Anything more than 32GB is a waste.

I'm actually still using a 64GB SSD that I got years ago for the OS drive, just because it's great specs
128GB SSD as a cache drive
500GB SSD as programs
1TB for SSD storage/games

only use external hard drives for archiving

>Your daily reminder that if I don't need X no one does

>buying an SSD bigger than 250gb is a waste
>has 251gb SSD
guess yours is a waste then :-)

He's probably stupid and partitioned over the overprovision space

Aren't the larger ones also faster? I haven't bough the 480 GB Intel530 because I could not afford it back then..

depends on the controller and NAND

Usually 240gb ones are faster than the 120gb of the same line, dunno if it scales up.

Maybe.

Your daily reminder that buying an SSD bigger than 250mb is a waste.

That they do. Have a 1TB 850 Pro for my VMs.

Daily reminder that you opinion is wrong and ur a fag.

should I replace this with a 512 GB drive or add some cheap piece of shit in my free mSATA slot for redundancy?

OP is right if you do nothing with your pc

*cough*

Daily reminder that not using extra RAM as a RAM disk is a waste.

Your daily reminder that no one will ever need more than 384K of wam.

Games nowadays take about 60GB each

Games generally don't have to be put on a SSD unless they have terribly unoptimized loading

>not buying a cheap 10000rpm hdd for gayms

>needing a cache drive when all your drives are ssd
>the cache drive is an ssd too

I don't understand

>He fell for the 256GB meme

Programs and OS's don't generally have to be on an SSD either.
It just makes them start up and load a lot quicker.

True. I personally am fine with my laptop which has a HDD when compared to my desktop where I have a SSD. Though I don't really play that many games, especially newer ones..

>daily reminder that putting Windows on a PC is a waste

i just installed this yesterday. i have a 2tb drive for all kinds of videos, it's half full.
i reinstalled my os so i barely have any software installed. no games at all. so i think 512 was worth it

>SSD for storage
>500GB for programs
>1TB for gayms
Literally retarded, you're just throwing away money for memes.

If my SSD were big enough 1TB+ I'd just all my games on there too. Your SSD is never big enough until you no longer need to store things on HDD.

I have a 500 GB SSD.

50 GB is given to Windows 8.1.
15 GB for Arch.
15 GB for another distro(gonna install stali) or whatever

Rest of the drive for /home and EFI partition for /boot

OP is literally an autist.

You can't even do that.

128gb ssd is too small to store panda backups

not really. its the only storage device on my laptop so everything i download goes there.

What are you, a poorfag?

Sincerely sorry for your cancer

Daily reminder not to listen to idiots on Sup Forums

I've got 8 1TB SSDs in my NAS in raidZ2, which makes 4TB of super fast and redundant storage.

Goddamn it must be shit being poor.
Why would you put yourself through the trouble of putting all your programs on separate drives?

yeah, your speccy looks a bit missing there.

What do you do with all that storage space?

I'm using a 256gb ssd with no other drives and it's less than half full.

If true, I am sincerely jealous. Now, post the screenie or gtfo

You ashamed the cpu and what the ram runs at?

Why would you ever need more than 120GB? I have
WoW
on it as well, which is like 50GB. I've never needed more space.

Oh, shit. I thought I had clicked on Sup Forums. I didn't mean to try and spoiler on Sup Forums.

Aktually

Peak efficient price right now for SSDs is 512GB

Why would you need a computer at all when you can browse facebook and /g on a tablet, righ?

mfw I'm just sitting here with one 250GB SATA drive and another 500GB one

I've installed Adobe software and a few games. And it's still empty.

This is fake

Got his ass!

>look mom, I'm throwing away money

>Pingas
Kek

Dunno what's up with speccy but it's some older DDR4 corsair 2400 for the ASUS X-99 WS-E 3.1

>wow
>50GB
What? Are you running a server?

This is true.

Has anyone gotten any of this Triactor SSDs? The prices are good.

All my programs are on the C drive, Steam, Adobe/Autodesk/Zbrush and anything else.
250gb SSD is work files so I can hotswap between PC and laptop.
6TB HDD is torrents, shitposting internet folders, iTunes media and backups plus any Shadowplay stuff I do
1TB SSD is my C drive from my last build, current PC is only a month old

I was happy with 256gb. In 2012. Can't live without my 1tb 850 now

>250GB is enough for me
Spotted the normie, have fun with Facebook

ya na

>hating facebook
You got no friends or something?

>You got no friends or something?
Seriously though, Facebook is cancer

Get out of here, stalker.

Shrink that volume and make a new drive for installing programs you degenerate

But it's not you nigger
>Pic related 2x250GB SSD's
>One with 4 OS's
>One for storage.

>current year
>staying in contact with people who aren't family or breeding partners

Phyically seprate drives are the way to go

I have got so much headachs from new things. Multi-booting just gets harder and harder every year.
I plan to have my next computer just have a drive for each bad actor, which is sad as I only have 134GB of stuff so a single drive could take everything.

>only has 6gbps ram
sad sad sad.

Get another 256GB and raid 0 them for memespeeds

>tfw my 2tb ssd is almost full

What's the difference between that in raid 1? Or even raid 6?

The mSATA slot is only SATA II (wew thanks Lenovo) and I don't think the BIOS supports RAID anyway.

Reminder that the only thing you should have on your computer should be the operating system, everything else should be on the cloud, otherwise you're autistic

disconnect it for three weeks. problem solved.

But I need space. Where am I supposed to store all my animu pictures.

Large SSD that isn't chock full = balanced writes = longer life

I was a moron that kept a small SSD almost full for years, it didn't last five.

is a m.2 pcie ssd worth it?

You speak as if you know what you are talking about, but I do not believe you know what you are talking about.

Seems that exploding washing machines aren't all that uncommon.
google.co.jp/search?q=exploding washing machines -samsung

damn, dat pitpussy

>using an SSD for long term data storage

>using a mechanical drive for long term data storage

tape or gtfo

I meant data that you don't need at all times but want accessible at all times, not archival

nope, i definitely need at least a 480 or 500gb SSD, shit's fucking expensive. maybe it'll be affordable in 2020 when bernie's president.

blm queer

Why do you even have system reserved mapped to a drive letter.

>daily reminder that buying an SSD is a waste
FTFY

>using local storage for large amounts of data at all
fucking plebs
just set up a fucking storage server
you can get gigabit switches for like $10 now, it'll still be fast as fuck and you can run raid1, backups, access from anywhere without having it rely on your desktop or laptop or whatever garbage you have

>use a server instead of local drives
autism

Put my OS on it 6 months ago. It's been fine

I'm not so sure OP. Playing DOOM from my 512GB Samsung 950 Pro m.2 is pretty great.

I had a 1TB SSD in my gaymin rig. I managed to fill it up halfway with a shitload of gaymin.

Since USB is now fast enough for everything else, I keep all my media on an external, mechanical drive for convenience.

You are so god damn stupid,
