I've tried configuring KDE a little bit but it still looks absolutely horrible.
I saw an user had posted an image of a KDE desktop that looked really slick and nice. Looking through the options of customizing the interface I saw very little that I could change.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tutorials in how to change around the KDE interface?

Same. I've used it for a little over a year, and accepted with resignation that KDE is unfortunately bloated and clunky. I always hated macs, but the thought is slowly creeping.
