>be me >get out of shower >there's no Internet >the Internet LED in the gateway is off >restart it >there's Internet for like a minute and then it's gone >close all my desktop apps >restart gateway again >everything works normally >browse Sup Forums for 3 minutes >launch torrenting app >Internet is gone >close everything again >restart gateway >Internet is back again >stare at the motherfucking gateway for 9 minutes straight >Internet was there all the time >go to my computer and browse Sup Forums for 5 minutes >go back to gateway >everything is fine >launch torrent app and run to see the gateway (it's 3 steps away) >all the LEDs go out immediately >the LEDs for power, etherenet 1 & 2, and WiFi come back almost instantaneously >the LED for VoIP is flashing, meaning that no line >the LED to Internet is off >wait for like 5 minutes and eventually the Internet and VoIP are back on and I'm torrenting at the amazing speed of 150KiB/s (to be fair I'm probably not downloading or seeding anything that should go faster)
Explain.
Jose Flores
Had the same thing happen Is your gateway connected to a backup battery provided by the ISP? When you do bandwidth intensive things it draws too much power and causes it to shit itself. If you can just bypass the battery entirely or get a new router
Ryder Moore
>Explain. Your gateway is shitting itself because of all the connections.
Gavin Lopez
Limit your number of open connections in the torrent client.
Noah Edwards
>battery
No.
>connections
I'm just at 86/29000000 though.
Cooper Roberts
And your gateway probably has a shitty 50 connection limit or something.
Mason Taylor
And those connections are making and breaking rapidly.
Charles Morales
>Explain. You have a shitty router. Buy a new one and the problem you described will go away like magic.
Bentley Stewart
This is the one my ISP provided though.
Grayson Cox
They know. You're fucked.
Michael Davis
limit max connections
Zachary Robinson
>2016 >Not having an off-shore seedbox
Asher Harris
Yeah, and they provide cheap garbage Our old router would overheat CONSTANTLY. Went to our lord and savior Microcenter, got some badass router on sale, no more issues
Austin Cox
I don't think it's legal to use a different one.
Andrew Watson
stop all the seeding tasks, download 1 torrent at a time and limit the connections in client settings
Zachary Diaz
What's wrong with you?
Eli Davis
...
Landon Hernandez
I had the same problem with an old speedport w700v. That thing couldn't handle the load of connections. Well I couldn't even scroll down on google images fast. Bought a new router from elsewhere, everything is fine.
Tyler Hughes
learn how to green text
be me
>I'm you
there's no Internet there's Internet
>Internet is
Thomas Harris
My 30 buck used net gear with openwrt can handle fucking torrenting and 4k streaming. What kind of shitty hardware did you get from your isp? I am genuinely curious
Christian Davis
Yeah I just looked it up and I could go to jail up to 15 years if I use a different router. Not that they sell them anywhere in my country anyway. What else can I do?
Logan Diaz
What the fuck shithole do you live in that it's illegal to use your own gear.
Brody James
use that router as a passthrough for a better router. buy a different one and use the first one as a passthrough to the new one that will handle the load.
