I just bought this for $450, did I do good?

I just bought this for $450, did I do good?

>Intel S2600CP2J
>64GB DDR3
>2x Xeon E5-2670 C2 (SR0KX)

No.

Maybe

Should have gotten a thinkpad

absolutely not.

>no pci-e

Those are all PCI-E, kid.

What are you planning to use it for?

no. you wasted your money.

Why not?

Play CS 1.6.

Seriously though, I'm gonna use it as a workstation for doing photogrammetry and 3D modeling and for VMs.

>narrow ilm

yeah you fucked up

Just memeing brah, enjoy it.

Hmm, I saw the x16 now

any regular pc would have been better than that shit. why didnt you do any research before you purchased it?

The 2670s are worth about 50-60 a piece, the 64GB DDR3 I'm guessing are 4GB 10600R (or worse 8500R) DIMMs which are just absolutely worthless these days, maybe 30 bucks for the whole lot of 16, and the board is worth about 150-175 bucks. You overpaid by about 100 dollars, factoring in shipping. Also that board kind of sucks. PCI-E 3.0 is broken and it's EEB, not E-ATX or anything common.

This is going to make a shit workstation and you can buy Z420s and the contemporary equivalent Precisions for about 450 with good specs.

>The 2670s are worth about 50-60 a piece

Cheapest I could find on Ebay with shipping to my country was $100 a piece

>the 64GB DDR3 I'm guessing are 4GB 10600R
It's 8x 8Gb of PC3- 12800R

>the board is worth about 150-175 bucks

The board is like $250 on ebay

>PCI-E 3.0 is broken and it's EEB, not E-ATX or anything common.

I plan on running it in an open air config, and I don't need PCI-E 3.0

no it wouldn't

yes, it would.

buyer's remorse

no

Does anyone know why the price dropped so suddenly for the E5-2670s?

jews

companies liquidating old hardware

DELETE YOUR LIES AND APOLOGIZE

ok sorry sir

I have some requirements:

>32GB ram or more with the possibility to upgrade to 64GB or more in the future
>ECC support
>PCIE 2.0 x8
>As many threads as possible
>Less than $500

ty my man

Looks like server hardware.

To what end?

others are x4

You could have bought a vastly superior X10 Supermicro motherboard for the same price.

So no, you should have researched more before making a buying an overpriced and outdated board.

*should have researched more before buying an overpriced and outdated board.

Natex has them for 175 and they were cheaper than that. That RAM is actually worth a little bit, though, so good job. It's still a shit workstation.

Those are all pci-e 8x and 1 16x...

/Thread

absolutely

I paid two times that for that sort of a hardware six months ago

>E5-2670
>Tfw too late
fuck

That's because you're stupid, not because OP got a good deal.

So show me a better deal then. Better MB+CPU+RAM for $450 or less.

HP Z420

You did okay user, maybe a bit too much but just fine. Enjoy

Been thinking about pulling the trigger on this for the past couple months. Rather wait for the 128GB ram one to get in stock for $50 more. It's a pretty good deal as long as you get an old bios and never update it. The updates broke pci 3.0.

You did fine. Now build a workstation and post it here.

well my dual cpu EEB board has 10g ethernet, and my 64gb ddr3 is ecc, and I had to import it to my cuckhomeland from the US, so I really think I did quite okayish.

Those cpus are listed in our used buy/sell place for around 1000 euros a piece - not that anyone would buy those at that rate
