Agreed, if you go 120 or 144 then you can justify it. Anything less and a 1070 or 470 should be used.

I upgraded from a 760 to a 480 for vidya, but I only use it for MPV. Maxed out DOOM perfectly though.

Using a hand me down gtx 560 ti on my build currently. I want to upgrade pretty soon. What would be better for 1440 144 hz, a 1070 or 1080? Also, if i buy a evga card now is it still not,gonna have the thermal pads? I want to get it off of newegg

The only reason I'm still using my 280x is because nobody makes yellow/black gpu's anymore.
If there was a yellow/black 480 or 10xx I'd drop the dosh in a heartbeat
