How do you all have so many packages? I only have around 900 on my debian netinstall

>Rounding from 0.0001% to 0.1%
Unacceptable

My Debian came with ~1400.

No non-free or contrib packages installed on NAVI! rms would be proud.
i actually had no idea that my wifi was libre

hardened linux from scratch
linux-libre 4.8.8
GNU userland
Wayland
all compiled from source

meaning pure GNU since Linux-Libre is a GNU project so the base OS is GNU
100% free software and I'm not a distrocuck

LONG LIVE GNU

One nonfree package...
Iwl-wifi
Someone give me an atheros wifi card

what exactly does "hardened" really mean? i've seen people talk about it but i've never heard it explained

It means "We know that our code sucked so will we use more sucky code ridden with holes to fill the holes of the original one"
Use Openbsd instead.

just a super tinfoil hat configured linux kernel with no SELinux (because muh NSA boogeyman)

not flaccid

if you can tell me how to set up a usb installer for it maybe i will

YEAH DUDE GNU IS COMMUNISM LOL
OPENBSD IS SO SECURE IM WAITING FOR X DRIVERS EVEN THOUGH X IS DEPRECATED BRO

Kernel patches like PaX / GRSec / SELinux with out-the-ass policies. Basically über security for zero-days and other things.

For example, the RE'd ditrycow exploit did not execute with SELinux enabled.

This. Basically shit patches out the ass. Use LibreSSL while you're at it.

I am not smart enough to know what any of this means, but thanks for the answer, nonetheless.

I thought of going OpenBSD but all my hard drives are encrypted with luks.

Isn't the entire point of LVM that you're able to more easily manage partitions? Shrink one of your partitons and put it there.

openbsd.org/faq/faq4.html#MkInsMedia
Literally you use dd and you're ready.

But then I still can't access all of my files from OpenBSD.

You convert it to softraid and then use it.

Who fucking cares.

Epic maymays, lad.

Urgh. Almost.

I blame Debian for still having openjdk-7-jre as the latest version of Java. And I needed to run a Minecraft server that was compiled with jdk8.

I couldn't find a way to get openjdk-8 to install on Debian. I desperately didn't want to mix up different distro repositories.

But that's true. Most people don't have a use for these rights, but we as a society most certainly do.
