I have an fx 8320 with a shitty motherboard and saw this ad online that has an i3 6100+msi b150m bazooka micro atx lga1151 motherboard for 130$ i also need to get new ram so i thought of getting 16GB RAM with price match =$77,which will cost me about $200. I am also thinking about overcloking the i3 to 4.2 GHz if it will let me. Is the i3 6100 worth the purchasr to upgrade?

Help

That would be a downgrade

For certain games you will see boost in fps . For interneting and general use you will see no difference.

Up to you if you wanna buy.

That's a downgrade.

Your fx8350 should be on par with an i5 6500 for modern use iirc

Why would i buy another motherboard to overclock if the FX series wont be continued? Isnt skylake cpus better?

You're going from i7 3770 performance to i5 2400 performance if you do this.

Don't do it man. Look up dx12 and vulkan benchmarks if you don't believe us.

If you're sticking with the 8320 just stay with your current mobo.

What mobo do you have op

Its a shitty one i cant risk overclocking with because of 4+1

Is an 8320e an upgrade from a 1090t?

So do i just wait for the new Vega gpus? I was about to upgrade to a rx 480 8gb this black friday but vega is only 3 months away....

More like a sidegrade.

Better integer performance but worse floating point performance.

What resolution do you play at?
What do you have now?

1080p
I have AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB

Are the newer instruction sets critical for non gaming applications?

FX 8320 has 8 cores, the Intel i3 6100 has 2 cores.

It's true you can't overclock but it fully supports your 8320 . You aren't getting worse performance , just no overclocking .

So new mobo or not? Do i just get a new gpu?

Such as?

7870 should still be pretty good...
What doesn't your pc do that you need it to?

I would get a gpu over a mobo if you feel like you need to buy something .

Run heavily modded skyrim and other games with 60+ fps

>modded skyrim
I7 6700k+gtx 1080

SSE 4.1 and 4.2

For?

the i3 would not be an upgrade over what you have at all

No idea. I just saw people complaining about it so I was wondering if more applications would rely on them and other instruction sets. I guess I'm looking into this much more than I should.

I think you're overthinking it. As long as you support SSE, you should be fine.

Alright, thanks, user.
