have you tried updoc?

whats up doc XDD

WTF i hate linux now!

It can be pretty bad at times. I don't know why. I recently installed Arch and it was okay right away. I have no idea what's up. Also, there's infinality for you, it's a pretty good fix.

install fonts needed to render the website.
if that's to much, default to the ubuntu botnet.

idiot

>this font rendering
wtf I hate windows now

but really dude, you just have to install the proper packages to get it to work well. If you wanted good font rendering out of the box you should have gone with a noob distro like ubuntu.

>Installs a bare window manager
>too retarded to configure fonts
>"it's linux's fault, guyzz"

Jesus FUCK why are wintoddlers so much fucking dumb? Legit question here.

Are you asking us how to fix your fonts?
Because you are too stupid to google it?

Sucks not being on an Apple device. Evaluate your options a little better next time.

Use eselect fontconfig to disable synthetic fonts, and make sure slight hinting is on.

Enable the adobe-cff useflag for freetype because the cleartype hinter sucks rotten asshole.

Pic related is Arial Unicode MS, I substitute most font families with it.

Font rendering in OSX terminal is garbage.

Hey friendo. Do you have a link to your awesomewm config?

>what is infinality

Fucking kill yourself

do GNUtards think this blurry shit looks good?

kek

still not as good as windows of os x

If that looks blurry to you, you should get your eyes checked

Fucking arch users.
Just set a simple config, it's not difficult.

>blurry shit
Let me guess, you also think full subpixel rendering makes fonts look "too sharp" and "too thin". Fucking kill yourself.

it's thicc

Yeah, looks so good bud.

ok

This is getting embarrassing.

~/.Xresources
Xft.antialias: 1
Xft.dpi: 96
Xft.hinting: 0
Xft.hintstyle: hintnone
Xft.lcdfilter: lcddefault
Xft.rgba: rgb

i have no idea how to fix this
i guess this is what i deserve for using firefox

I wasn't talking about just Arch but distros in general. I didn't set up jack shit this time, the font rendering was fine without having to do anything.

What I'm wondering is why it's shit on some distros. It was fine on Arch but on Debian it was awful. Ubuntu was really good, OpenSUSE was terrible. What's up with that?

Nothing to do with firefox.

>noticing font rendering

Depends what fonts get installed and whether they have a decent basic config. You say you didn't set anything up but what you did added more bloat to your system and was not really any easier than copy and pasting a config in to a file. Too many arch users parrot infinality as a solution without understanding what it does or what the capabilities are without it. It can be surprising what can be achieved without it with very little effort, I actually prefer without it.

looks fine on my machine senpai

arch with freetype 2.7

Maybe it is actually you who needs an eye test then.

wut font nigga

are you sure? it didn't happen until i updated firefox

post yours :*)

Yes.

At least two people have told you it looks terrible.

only posted twice in this thread (now three)

me:

Whatever dude.
Typical tiny dick arch faggot. Stay blind.

I still don't see yours

>Typical tiny dick arch faggot.
How does seeing mine validate yours?

>muh dick

typical nigger

Sure thing hun.

Are you two going to fuck already or what? My dick is out and waiting.

SOrry, I didn't notice.

>Typical tiny dick arch faggot.
I'm using Debian, ass-wipe and I don't know who &
is.

Great, your fonts still look fuzzy and shite.

...

wtf I hate linux now :(

Never had any problems , but i don't use loonix

Looks like you have a major problem.

browser is serif 16

I think you misunderstood. I'm not using infinality, nor did I tweak any configs. I don't think I've actually done anything to change the fonts from the way they were when I did a basic install. They seemed pretty good from the get-go so I didn't bother.

I mentioned infinality because I did use it before because I didn't really want to learn to set up font configs etc. Infinality did the trick in that regard, it made the text look better. I know simple solutions like that aren't usually the optimal ones, but it's easier to suggest infinality than guide someone through setting up fonts on their own.

kek, underrated

muh infinality

stock win7 and literally look better than that shit senpai

r8 me

>tfw i use hinting

>started hating linux now, not ages ago.

kekurbait

XP/10

You know what, I like your clear font in your pic.

Uninstall xorg-fonts or whatever the package is called on your distro of choice. They're old and nobody cares about them.

r8

Infinality is deprecated as of freetype 2.7. The only reason to use it is if you want to please your autism.

>Xft.dpi: 96
To whoever reads this: use the correct dpi for your display instead of copy-pasting from the internet.

ClearType is hidden behind patents so Linux will never get good font rendering at sub 4k resolutions.

that fucks up applications - gtk2/qt4 applies to fonts, gtk3/qt5 applies to the gui as well

>add bohomil repo
>pacman -Syyuu infinality-bundle ibfonts-meta-base
>so hard

I must admit that is still better than modern flat shit.

>took the time to install gentoo
>cant fix anti-aliasing

Linux is a kernel; it doesn't render any fonts, you dumbfuck.

>falling for the freetard GNU/linux meme

probably assumes it's like windows

>windows renders fonts in its kernel

>it doesn't render any fonts

then how does /dev/tty work?

Underrated keks

that must be the reason why it looks like shit on all screenshots.

ubuntu is the only distro with good font rendering

freetype 2.7 uses the same method of rendering as ubuntu

>no hinting

>freetype 2.7 uses the same method of rendering as ubuntu
This is not true.

Simple data like numbers, flags, and booleans should be attributes of an element, not a child element.

fucking newfags

the problem of font rendering ugliness disppeared when 4k monitors came in. And if you don't have a 4k monitor then just kys

liberation or noto?

I think liberation renders better but noto is just a better font

Noto, no contest.

/dev/tty is a fucking teletype
tele- is for far
-type is for typewriter
You output Linux on a type machine.
How do type machines render fonts?

Come right on in, don't be shy

why do you have to configure fonts in the first place

>Le epic looney tunes maymay XDDDDD

In this screenshot ClearType is not enabled you retard.

OMG he got you good fucked XD

Nice loonix reference there

See

Because if you're autistic enough to use a WM, you're expected to be autistic enough to know how to fix your fucking fonts.
