I have an R9 390X and an fx8320 processor.
I play at 1440p and get around 30-40fps

I assume it's not the GPU. It;s the CPU causing low FPS, right?

I just wanted to know so I could upgrade in the cyber-monday sales

Its both you fuck.

>1440p with a single 390x

My 980 tie only manages around 60-90 fps at 1440 on ultra with newer aaa titles.

Get another 390x or wait for the 490x

thanks. your posted helped me figure absolutely nothing

you realize the R9 390x is comparable with the 980 you sperg

>playing newer AAA titles

Retard alert

It's the CPU. I upgraded from an 8150 to an i7 6800k and my performance nearly doubled.

yeah. that's because you're on a 6800k.

I was looking at getting a 6600k

also. Other problems I have that make me think it's the CPU.
>no matter how low I put the graphics
>no matter what resolution I run games in
>still get low fps
This is a CPU problem, right?

Yes. If graphics settings yield nothing, it's CPU

Did you even check your CPU or GPU usage?

What game?

Also the 6600K would be a downgrade overall, you're going to want a 6700K minimum

>the 6600K would be a downgrade over an fx8320
wat

>What game?
every game

Better per core performance, lower multi-threaded performance depending on the OC on the FX chip

I can easily get over 100fps with my FX chip in DOOM

because doom has vulkan

How is that a bad thing? Most games don;t have good multi-threading so a cpu with stronger single cores is better. No?

I can't think of any games that didn't hit at least 60fps on my FX chip at 4ghz

If you live in the US microcenter has great deals on i7 6700k and i5 6600k with another 30$ discounts with compatible MoBos, and if you want to keep your RAM go i7 4790K is a beast

> 390

390 is a 1080p card, user.

But the 390x is not.

It's only 10% faster than a 390

In addition it is now as fast as a 980 overall though

Buy r9 fury and overclock the fuck out of the 8320

Wrong

A Fury isn't much faster than a 390X

But it has 4gb more Vram

Doesn't matter for most cases still

First line of defense should be you making sure you're not throttling your performance. Ergo, make sure windows isn't power balancing during your gaming sessions.

Quickfix is selecting your game in the task manager (assuming you're using windows of course) and setting its priority to high. (this is done under the tab 'Details' in win10 btw)

More likely than not this will actually make a noticeable difference. If your shit still runs like shit, you might want to consider upgrading.

Wait for Zen.
