Is Linux Communism?

Is Linux Communism?

No, because the government doesn't own it.

its close.
bunch of pseudo-commie nerd coders

No because communism is an economic model and Linux is a kernel.

Microsoft is capitalism
Linux is Communism

Both owned by the Jews

> inb4 "back to Sup Forums"

Go back to /fa/, Gnu/Linux is capitalism because is free.

Literally.

>he doesn't know what communism is

Communism is the common ownership of the means of production. The means of production in/of Linux are the tools you use to build Linux as well as tools you use on Linux. To own means of production it means you have complete control over the tools as well as what happens to the product.

You could consider libre distros as tools as 'communism' with librebooted laptops running all libre software, firmware and drivers. Distros with mixed non-free and free software could be considered socialism, state capitalism (or degenerated worker's state :^)).

Then of course, we get to the hardware which isn't 'libre'. You can argue that you do not own the means of production because you do not 'own' the underlying hardware.

Tl;dr yes

Nobody is forcing anyone to work on it. You don't even need to distribute changes to code unless you're selling something.

>voluntary cooperation
>Jewish trick known as Communism
Pick one statist cuck.

>He thinks software is a product
No wonder why you are a commie scum.

>Communism is the common ownership of the means of production.
You don't own it unless you fork it. Nobody is required to accept your changes to code. It's freely distributed, but you can even charge for the media its being distributed on as a service.

>Free software advocate:
>It is important for you to be in control of your computer, so you should use and support software that lets you do that.

>Communist:
>Those software companies are horribly oppressing you, my fellow workers! You have to storm their offices, seize their code and bring it to me - the head of the People's Software Committee- which will henceforth be in charge of all software development and regulation in our country.
>And if you disagree your options are taking a bullet in the head now or being worked to death in a gulag over the course of several months.

Once you get a GPL licensed software you own it.

Literally the FSF

>mfw cucked Americans think capitalism is the best system while they get fat on junk food, work 9 hour days and die early

>muh linux libre fork

Literally no one cares. Soviet technology was proprietary. GPL is just in murican interpretation count as something like communism because it's made by a community for the real commies you were forced to work for the common good.
>inb4 GPL force you to release code
grsec only release code/binaries to its sponsors and it's still GPL compatible.

Yes
It is little known fact that Emacs was written Steve Wozniak while in an FSF correctional camp near Yakutsk and gcc is mostly comprised of code found on devices plundered from an IBM facility.

>Soviet
>communism
wew

GPL states that you must provide the code with the binary. So if you're selling a product (binary) you have to provide the source with the binary.

Libre does not imply free as in beer and it does not mean code is necessarily freely available online.

No it's a piece of software.

>promoting free market
>communism

Your LSD trip gone wild. I'm done with cuckchan.
