We do not make fun of it,most people use arch.

>not just using cli script

>Still cannot see the morbidly obese man in Arch's logo
>Wonders why we make fun of Arch users

Even though it's supposed to be a neccbeard tier distro, the fact that the developers refuse to implement official support for any init system that's not systemd makes Arch a collosal joke. If I wanted a good systemd distro, I would have installed Suse or some shit.

That being said, the only redeeming qualities of Arch are Pacman and the AUR.

because it's an unstable piece of shit childrens meme toy distro

really the only people who go out of their way to constantly make fun of people who use a specific distro are just jobless shut-ins who have probably never developed anything in their lives.

the truth is every distro has its perks. arch is great if you don't want to have to manually install the latest versions of packages (like nodejs or go or mongodb or whatever), and the aur is really nice. the downside is that you have to spend a little time configuring the machine to your liking.

"batteries included" distros like ubuntu are great in their own way, cause you spend significantly less time setting it up, it just werks out of the box, but you have to go find latest builds of certain packages elsewhere, cause apt only has stable/sometimes outdated packages.

at the end of the day linux is just linux. just pick a distro, shut up, and make shit.

Because you could have just installed Ubuntu and called it a day.
>NO I LIKE BEING A FAG

>he uses Darch

I use Arch and think that only total retards pay much attention to logos (the Star Trek Arch logo was cooler imo, also the old Google Chrome logo with the Apple logo in the reflection was cool too)

Pajeet's three prong strategy.
1.Shill Windows, and windows accessories
Paint gnu/linux is as bad a light as possible, by
2. promote inferior distributions such as ubuntu.
3. spread fud about superior distrubutions such as Arch Linux.

muh sides

Sup Forums makes fun of everything?

screenfetch -LD "Arch Linux - Old"

We don't make fun of arch. (even though it's basically a lab rat maze for nerds)

We make fun of the jerks who think that following online instructions and messing with config scripts make them somehow different and special from everyone else.

Try again when you are a bit more linux-competent.
It can be a challenge for noobs.

Installation is just running a script like
start-install /dev/sda1

and bam you're done.

It's a toy, not something you can rely on.

just a few loudfaggots
starring:
>the guy who doesn't like what you like
>the guy who is butthurt that he couldn't install it because there's no "next" buttons to hit
>the token 11 year old who thinks it's fun to repeat things people dislike
and several supporting actors who just think everything is a joke, and don't care how true any of it is

>2016 no installation wizard
you ARE the wizard

>mfw Ive just installed Arch
>Terminal doesnt work in gnome
>My keyboard has a wrong configuration
>My wifi doesnt work

You should have followed the wiki guide.

>having to follow a step by step complicated wiki guide requiring to you to do everything yourself
>has the integrity to insult someone who can't

y-y-you only installed base base-devel and gnome and d-did nothing else ??

It's not complicated at all.

This to be honest

>57808817
If you want a not-meme, usable system, yeah, it is.

Pls tell me you have an /etc/fstab

>image was front page on imgur

how do you know faggot ?

I browse reddit to protect myself from fags like you

How to get Arch Devs to question the ned of systemd
1.- Find a 0day caused by systemd and report it
2.- Devs try to fix it
3.- Devs try to fix it
4.- Devs try to fix it
5.- Devs try to fix it
6.- Devs cant handle it, to many blobs
7.- They suicide

But in all fairnes systemd works fine.

I never had to configure much things but maibe its because of gnome

It is impractically complicated.

The fact that it's only one step above Gentoo in terms of not wasting a user's time.

Retard. If systemd has a 0 day systemd devs will patch it. Arch devs != systemd devs

Self-deprecation
Most of Sup Forums uses arch

Most of the people who shit on Arch are idiots like this who doesn't know that Arch Anywhere exists.

Gnome terminal being fucked is pretty common
Use any other terminal like lilyterm.
Or use a DE that is actually good.

The only thing you can protect here is your virginity.

Arch devs do some downstream job to systemd.

You are retard yourself if you need it in the first place.

There is actually systemd dev that's also an Arch dev.

I know, it's truly a testament to how smart you are to willingly do something in way that wastes time and is unnecessarily complicated when faster and easier methods are available

>why does Sup Forums make fun of arch?

Arch devs admitted that the point of arch is to make shit easy for devs, not users

aka devs are lazy af and offloading their work to the users, whom they convince that arch is 'dude so cool cause it TEACHES YOU HOW STUFF WORKS MAN'

woah fucking sick burn bro!

>installed on usb with rufus

wtf i hate linux now

>arse linux

I actually found that pic from my TL. I never browse Imgur and Reddit.

The fact that you know more about the pic's status on Imgur + Reddit writes itself into meme status. :^)

It's a poser distro.

Just because it has no graphical installer doesn't mean it's any "closer to the rails."

It's a bloated piece of shit that sees the user doing more legwork to get it setup and then reaping no benefits from having done so: since it's sitting atop a stack of fundamentally hardware.

Compare Arch to Open BSD and the difference immediately becomes clear.

because it's easy.
also because it's pleb-tier shit.

it's not elitist. it's for people who want to feel elitist but are not. actual elitists use sane, mature distros.

>what is Arch-Anywhere
>what is Architect Linux
>what is literally any Arch derivative distro if those two scare you too much

>since it's sitting atop a stack of fundamentally hardware.
So not only are you retarded, you also cannot speak English

I have the same bug.
I tried both hr and croat in vconsole but no succes.
I fixed it temporarily by initializing setxkbmap when Xfce starts.
Still it's the same on gdm.
Can anyone help here?

It's basically the distro newfags use with the intent of showing off how cool and tech savvy they are to their gay computer illiterate friends.

Here's the thought process going into their decision to install arch

>what looks cool and edgy
>does it make me look like a hacker
>does it have a cool name and logo
>is it it somewhat obscure

That's basically it.

Now install TempleOS

I thought the AUR was the reason to use it?

I'm using arch because rolling release, pacman, not bloated (like ubuntu).
When installed - it just works.

Why not use Manjaro then?

Because I like pacman, makepkg and PKGBUILDs in general and AUR.

You don't even need to do the shitty install routine, you can just install Antergos.

Because found arch first.
Why would I install manjaro? What benefits would I get?

Arch is shit because Gentoo, Slackware, and BSD exist. There is nothing else to it.

You'd get a somehow shittier repo.

Just use one of the 50 install scripts.

I's a way to keep the plebs away.

not necessary shit but a lazy version of those OS's. which makes solus look like even more of a joke due to it being an even lazier version of arch

I rest my case.

No EFI support, buggy as shit.

>That being said, the only redeeming qualities of Arch are Pacman and the AUR.

you mean like most of the distro?

>you mean like most of the distro?
What are you talking about?

Source based vs binary based
package manager
The repos

Are the main differences between distros.
Everything else is shit that you can do on any distro anyway.

what about kernel or init. i do not think packages make a difference on any distro since you can compile from source on any distro

Kernel and init would be part of the repos.

And yes, you can compile from source on any distro. And packages do make a difference since some distros add their own patches on top of upstream.

alright what about initramfs

do patches really define a distro though

pacstrap /dev/sda1 wpa_supplicant

It's really not.
Literally everything you could need to make it work is in that wiki.

>Using gnome
>Using gnome terminal
Install literally any other terminal. There are like a dozen of the bastards from lxde4-terminal to terminix.

security patches on top of old packages is basically what defines debian stable.

And what about initramfs?

Such as?

> wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Keyboard_configuration_in_console
> wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Keyboard_configuration_in_Xorg
>Not using the wiki.

>Ubuntu
>not debian

Why would I use something as bloated as umbongo when I can simply use debian?

>inb4 le bloat meme

Debian boots in 5 seconds on my machine whereas ubuntu needs around 30 seconds to boot and occupies a lot of extra space.

thanks for the clarification

the contents of the file varies widely form distro to distro like format of the directories whether the init is a script or a binary things of that nature.

And why would you worry about that?
Initramfs just gets recreated when you upgrade your kernel automatically.

Because most Arch users on the Internet are painfully obnoxious.

because i care about my kernel configuration and it is incredibly useful for debugging and development. also if you want to truly meme about boot times you would care about this instead of switching distro for better boot times

I literally did faggot.

>Not being capable of following basic instructions on a wiki
If you did, then you clearly wouldn't have a problem.

If you don't want to use the standards from you distro you fall into the "shit you can do on any distro" territory.

It worked now!!! :)
setxkbmap or whatever was for current session only.
I am indeed retarded.

Ta'daa problem solved.
Seriously, if you've got a problem just take the time to actually read over the wiki page for it, don't just skim it, you've either configured it wrong or there might be an additional step you need to take to get it to function.
Software will often also have a separate troubleshooting section/page to help (i.e. getting Steam to work on x64 systems.)

Void > Arch
FACT

Most kernel developers don't use Arch,
yet Arch users think they're somehow special.

I don't usually have time to read it in details but I can't say it's not useful.
Thanks man for helping me out.

no shit but why not optimize

No worries.
And what do you mean you don't usually have time to read it? If you're configuring an arch system you shouldn't really be doing it with a small timeframe.

What are you even talking about?
Users can optimize their initramfs on any distro as much as they want, but what has that to do with distro-specific differences?
Or do you expect the distro maintainers to do that for them?

initramfs is different in every distro and is very distinct

No one chooses their distro based on the initramfs
