Two years ago I got a monitor that can run 2560 x 1440 resolution. I'm surprised to say I have had a hard time finding any kind of videos that run at that resolution.

I can't even find a good movie trailer download. Running video off youtube and the like is too compressed which why I want a real downloads I can run off the hard drive.

Can anyone direct me to a source of media that fits my monitor??, Chinese cartoon , movies, anything, just 1440p at least

fucking games

Cameras that shoot 4k r expensive

Nope, 4k content is scared and 1440p content is virtually non-existent except vydia but you need at least an Rx 490 to really enjoy it (ie run games on max 1440p settings.

Just pirate 4k movies that's the closest you'll get

>He fell for the 1440p meme

demo-uhd3d.com/

I like the Sony 4k Surfing and the the Samsung Power of Curve. Each of them are 4k and 60 fps.

Watch 4K movies. No one's making videos for a resolution that basically only exists on desktop monitors.

Also just in case you did not know you will be taking full advantage of your 1440p monitor by playing 4k on it. It will automatically downscale to your resolution.

I was at pic related a few months ago, it's pretty cool
lot more people than in that pic though

>He fell for the "He fell for the _____ meme" meme

You know the most worthless aspect ratio is? 21:9. Seriously, fuck those monitors. Who the fuck would buy a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor and then proceed to not be able to take advantage of anything besides some work applications. So useless for the home user.

1440p is fucking great
fuck 4k though 2160p is too much memeing
kys

i bought a 4k 40 inch monitor
it's gr8 for programming and gaming from a slight distance, so immersive

>programming on a TV

>>>/reddit/

what?
rx 490 isn't out
i run Battlefront @ 3440x1440 ultra settings, 70 fps just fine on a gtx 980ti

>programming on a cheap peasant monitor
>>>/jobsearch/

>only having enough money for 1 monitor
>not 2 1440p desktop monitors and a 4k tv for films

>>>/walmart/

I just bought a 28 inch 4k monitor, but I haven't been able to use it yet. Did I make the right decision?

>not having 2 4k 40 inch monitors for extreme immersion and one 4 tv
>>>/craiglistbj4money/
nope, should've gone for 32, 34 or 40

I hope a 1070 can run them

so when is 1440p/4k becoming the streaming standard?

it can just fine
pretty sure a 960 can

>useless
perfect for movies
perfect for games
perfect for editing
perfect for productivity
there's literally no downside
stay pleb

How about at 144hz

2019-2020, in time for Japanese Olympics.

Using one right now, honestly one of the best purchases I've made in my life. I love it

It's shit for reading Sup Forums tho

>>He fell for the "He fell for the "He fell for the _____ meme" meme" meme.

Too bad Tetsuo will fuck it all up.

>he fell for the recursion meme

I fell and can't get back up.

ITT:
People that don't use their computers for work are confused as to why someone would want more screen space.

Which one you got senpai?

*sigh*, true

no way baby
im running at 2560x1080
Playing Battlefront on ultra settings, including maxed out nvidia control panel, i get around 110 fps with a GTX 980 Ti
1070 is about the same as a 980ti, sometimes worse, sometimes better
gonna need a 1080 for 1440p @ 144hz
Even then, im not sure
1440p is more than 1 million more pixels than my driver

different user
but i'm using the lg 29um58-p
overclocked it to 70hz (the risk of 75hz isnt worth it)
Just like the other user, it was probably the best purchase i've made involving my computer
i switched to this from 3 monitors, and productivity hasnt been hit, maybe a 2nd monitor could help a bit, but idk
Gaming is so amazing on it
it's just perfect

Fuck should have waited for Vega to get my build
60hz it is then

>more screen space

Your video player should be doing the upscaling for you.

For example in the case of anime, it's all produced sub-720p, then upscaled to TV up to 720p, then upscaled further by Crunchyroll to 1080p. You might as well just use a proper 720p release and then use a good media player to upscale up to 1440p, like you would when viewing 720p on a 1080p monitor anyway.

There's always middle ground
you can go for 70-75hz or 100hz

if you're not going ultrawide this is a great monitor
1ms response
75hz

TN

well TN is good for gaming
but yeah, IPS is the best in general

videos aren't shot in 1440p normally. it's easier to find 4k videos than 1440p videos. just watch 4k videos instead, it's better than 1080p on a 1440p monitor.

16:9 is redundant for Sup Forums also youre fine with 4:3.

flip that shit 90°
you can see the whole thread at once

what video player an accomplish up scaling from 720p to 1440p with "keeping" the quality

lolno

lol you're right, just tried it
>tfw your monitor is sitting on your stereo, and not on a mount, so you cant enjoy it

You're not supposed to full-screen windows on larger resolutions. The main benefit is having more screen realestate so you can have more windows displaying their full content at the same time.

On my 1440p I always have a browser, an IRC window and my Discord up, tiled perfectly to display what I need without ever needing to maximize either.

On YouTube

Wtf you have an shitter cpu. My ti runs battlefront on 1440p 110fps maxed out.

well hello there 3rd world internet

there is no risk in 75hz..

either your scaler is capable of running it or it's not.

i used to clock my lg 29um67-p to 79hz stable

What do you mean?

that the video looks like shit in "auto" because of you low bandwidth

well idk, i did the test like one time
my frames are normally capped at 70 from vsync
my cpu isn't top of the line though, 8350 @ 4.6ghz

higher the overclock the more of a risk it is
the 29um58p has had some problems overclocking to 75hz without a 4k HDMI cable
maybe i'll do it if i get one

It's because YouTube compression, you dumb cuck
youtube.com/watch?v=dJQX0tZsZo4

thats why op is asking for sources of 4k video that are not youtube, that compresses the shit out of everything

dont you talk to me like that on Sup Forums or you are gonna get it

There are better 1440p videos on YT, that was just to show the 1440p setting availability.

they will get compressed the shit out of them soon just like 720p and 1080p did

that picture is really a torturous situation for any video codec

google for hevc or h265 samples

also google for red camera samples

or uhd samples (sony has some good ones)

>28"
>everything is tiny
>scale it up
>basically end up with a 1080p monitor that costs 4x as much

Good job retard you both the 720p monitor of 2020's

Are you retarded?
Even if you scaled it up to the same screen real estate as a 1080p, the improved image quality alone is worth the price of a 4k monitor.
I always chuckle when I see you guys boasting about how awesome the image quality on your new 40" 4k TV is when in reality its PPI is as bad as a 24" 1080p monitor.

this
4k really is a meme for monitors
only necessary for TVs, even then its kind of stupid

t. poor 1080 nigger

I have an i5 intel, you have an amd. Explains everything

>all intels are better meme
mind specifying the chip?

>Buying expensive vaporware

Why so salty?

Neo 1080= 4k
Neo 720= 1440p

Try sitting more than three inches away from the monitor.

vaporware? what the fuck are you talking about cuckold?

he's going for the curved screen meme

anything higher than 1080p is maximum placebo

not when you are playing 1080p in a 1440p monitor (looks like shit)

its good for 34 inch and above ultrawide monitors
thats about it

SIZE
MATTERS

LOL looks like you got BTFO by LG and Samsung advertising memes

are you talking about physical size, resolution or my dick?

Some high quality OVAs are produced in the 9xxp range, with the most prominent example being Gundam Unicorn from 2010. Also, we've had 8-10 tv anime that were produced in 8xxp in the past 3 years iirc. But yeah, the vast majority of anime are produced in (sub-) 720p.

it is quite a large problem for me, not able to download 4k stuff, especially illegally, still, i upload what i do have, avatar is a very popular film :(

first world problems

...

I can do 100fps+ on Battlefront ultra settings on 1440p 144hz. I am 1080 sli though

Next time you'll avoid buying meme products. 1080p is the best resolution now, unless you're a hard-core spoiled gamer. Native content at 1440p is still rare, whereas native content at 1080p is huge.

>Who the fuck would buy a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor and then proceed to not be able to take advantage of anything besides some work applications.
People who don't have enough room on their desk for two monitors?

half the screen space is wasted even on 16:9 in Sup Forums tho

what do people even use 2 monitors for?

1440p is meme tier gaymen resolution.

Just stick to 1080p until 4k is affordable to prevent shitty scaling.

Don't keyframes (and basically anything drawn) have an infinite resolution? What's the point of producing it like that?

What DON'T people use two monitors for? Having a second monitor is really great even for something as simple as writing an essay when you have to use reference materials.

meme is an excuse for poor fucks who cant afford 1440p.
I use 3

1440p is NOT a gaymen resolution. It's great for web browsing, chatting, having multiple windows open and working, but it sucks so much power out of your graphic card that it isn't particularly recommended for video games unless you're on a high-end card.

I would suggest two 1080p displays for this. It offers all the room for your multiple windows and you can watch video on native resolution.

Anyone who bothers with a 1440p monitor likely has a high end card

>1440p is an excuse for poor fucks who cant afford 4k.

depends, you can get shitty cheap screens then you can get decent 144hz ones with gsync.

>unironically suggesting gsync. . .

No, theres no decent 4k screens out currently that dont bleed like fuck. Some of us bought 1440p until the decent 4k screens arrive next year.
Obviously you dont know much about monitors.

I'd venture to say the majority of gamers buy a good video card and cheap out on the monitor
