Other types of "display" cables such as HDMI and DVI are NOT welcome in /DPC/ and should FUCK right off.

master race cable, DP 1.4 supports 8k @ 60hz prove me wrong

why is this a thread

I hate regular DisplayPort cables, that fucking latch button is unnecessary

I took the b8

first time I have heard of this,
and this was designed a decade ago??

how come its not more popular?
why don't gpu's really have support for this?

in other words, why has it remained a failure even though the specifications are so great?

What the fuck are you talking about?

what about thicker?

Apparently you are supposed to be able to Daisy chain them together. One display port can drive up to three monitors, but I think the monitors need a DP in and out, so I've never actually seen this done. It would be nice for muh aesthetics and muh cable management

underated

>tfw bought new 4k display and it came with a display port cable

It's white but for some reason displayport cables are fucking expensive so I'll take what I can get.

>daisy chain

USB supports this too.

I have yet to see a usb daisy chain.

Definately not gonna happen with DP.

I don't like it, never had an issue with the cable disconnecting with HDMI.

DP in terms of raw technical specifications is amazing and superior, but I hate its locking mechanism where you have to push a button to release.

Reason being that My GPU is crammed so I cannot reach said button without removing the DVI connector for one of my older monitors. Was only an issue when connecting/disconnecting the cable which rarely happens anyways after you've plugged it in.

Are you me? does said new monitor happen to be an LG27UD68?

>why don't gpu's really have support for this?
They do.

Great bait post, user!

>in other words, why has it remained a failure even though the specifications are so great?
Its basically the TV industries fault. They chose HDMI back in 2006. And theres no true reason to change.

this thread is obviously satire

My work is giving away DP cables, no joke. They have one of those big rubbermaid bins full, must have got them when they bought a shitload of monitors and then used VGA or something. I took six.

Dell U2415 has this, alternatively you can buy a MST hub.

>that fucking latch button is unnecessary
you are wrong, i've had 144hz not working because of bad connection
got a cable with latches on both sides - works fine now

not using glorious SDI

>currently supports 4k@30hz
>soon to be 4k @60hz
>locking connector
>16 channels of pcm audio
>completely unencrypted
>easily runs 300' without issue
>open standard
>one fucking wire

Are you seriously making a general of this? What the fuck, Sup Forums?
