1080 worth it?

Got a 970, looking to upgrade. Will have the cash to blow on a 1080.

It looks like I can expect about a 70%-ish performance improvement.

Does this sound about right?

no, why waste your money when your 970 has 3.5gb of vram?

>3.5g

Nah. Don't bite it yet. HTC is in May and Volta will be announced

But if you must upgrade, get a 1070 instead

No.. it has 4.. just a slow last 500M.

The current card is intended to be an xmas present to someone struggling with horrid integrated gfx right now. (You ever see someone try to dual screen EVE on a shitty 5 year old intel integrated GPU? It ain't pretty.)

So I take it the 1080 is the standard "marginal performance boost over the lesser model but at a massive markup since it's the top of the line" thing?

this statement makes no fucking sense

Basically the 1070 is the expensive, super card.

Whereas the 1080 is the E X P E N S I V E el Superino(TM)(C) KÆRD

If that makes more sense.

Just get the 1080, it's basically the same thing, mine runs great

You mean the 70, right? If the 80 and the 70 are basically fucking identical, why would I spend the extra $200?

>So I take it the 1080 is the standard "marginal performance boost over the lesser model but at a massive markup since it's the top of the line" thing?
Yes. If you got a 970, you're good until the next generation after the 10 series.

Memory busses. The 970 doesn't have the memory bus to really use all 4 gb of vram.

Wow what a vague and unassuming comparison. I could totally determine which AIB manufacturer at what clock these cards were running at including the CPU and other components.

why not wait for the 1080 Ti to release and have a 100% increase in performance.

>4gb

Like I said - Christmas present. I am buying a card one way or another in the next couple of weeks, it's just a matter of which one.

Stock, obviously, or else there'd be no point. I would link you the site, but you're being a cunt, so find it yourself.

you're the goat, aren't you?

>If the 80 and the 70 are basically fucking identical, why would I spend the extra $200?

They are not, the 1080 performs quite a bit better, but it's not worth the jump in cost and you can usually OC the 70 to give stock 80s a run for their money anyway.

Jesus fucking christ, at least wait two generations before buying a new card.

There are improvements, but they're pretty small in most cases.

Why the rush to upgrade? I only ever do so when my current card can't get the fps I want in the games I play.

If you'd read into the thread, you'd see that he's getting a new card regardless because the 970 will be a gift for Christmas to someone else. I say 1070 is your best bet, OP. My buddy has one and can run pretty much everything on ultra at 4k res.

>tfw still GTX 560 Ti and run fine 3 displays including 1440p

Thread is similar enough and i don't feel like starting a new one.
Is the 1080 worth the extra 200 euroshekels over the 1070 for 3440x1440 60hz max settings gaymen?

Ayy. Still running strong

>1080 worth it?
no.
only retards with more money than brains buy 1080s. or nvidia in general.

reminder that if you don't buy things according to ethical considerations, you are everything that is wrong with consumerism and should kill yourself immediately.

not like it would matter to you, nihilist fuck.

>buy things according to ethical considerations

>buying products from anti-consumer anti-competitive corporations that layoff thousands of americans to import pajeets like Intel or NVIDIA

AMD's CEO is literally an Indian. Oh wait, you're baiting people.

The amd ceo is Taiwanese like NVIDIAs ceo, intlels ceo is a jew

>AMD's CEO is literally an Indian

Huh. I always thought that Raja Koduri was the CEO for some reason.

Hes cto of radeon, used to work at Apple i think

Poorfag spotted. Coming out with the usual bollocks. Any excuse all because you cant afford the best product.
