Bleachbit > CCleaner

Bleachbit > CCleaner

What cleaning software do you use personally?

Why is it better?

The kind of people that use this stuff are the very same that fall for poo in loo calls about the virus on their windows.

shred

CCleaner

Convince me why I would switch off cc cleaner

rm -rf --no-preserve-root

performance skyrocketed after I got rid of that nasty bin folder. Who ever needed a recycle bin?

>using cleaning software unironically

you do know its all placebo bullshit right?

you do know you're mentally retarded right?

tfw you own that cloth

shred/dd

writing data to all sectors is enough. don't need to do a full 33x full nsa wipe or anything.

But yes, if you do just a quick format or delete stuff (and it not overwritten by another file) the files can still be rebuilt.

dd

I use ccleaner for keeping temporary files under control on systems with very little storage... Not as some sort of trace eraser.

It's wonderful for what I use it for.

It works on both windows and linux.

ATA Secure Erase.

I mainly use it over Windows' program manager to uninstall stuff because it loads faster.

What about orphaned configs and packages on Linux? Do you remember to remove old kernels regularly? They can take gigabytes of space.

Bleachbit doesn't wipe the MFT

Magnets

Magnets won't destroy the data on lower platters if you try to destroy the evidence during the raid. You won't have time to take the drive out of the case.
