just accept it, OP.

play a few more video games to take your mind off your failure.

I don't play videogaymes

Bump

it's ok I've been doing this for past 7 years, recently I gave up for good, it's just not possible if you suffer from depression and other serious condition

a shame therapy and medication doesn't help at all in my case

I'll just stick to anime and video games and hope for a quick and painless death in my sleep some day

>Golang

There is no intoxicant which can blur that failure.

It seems that at least you have people that can afford the financial side for you.

One year ago I moved half away across my country to get away from my family control and I'm failing hard. Unemployed, fucking depressed, cash running out, no girlfriend to lift up my spirits or friends and I'm living in a cousins' house, which is pretty embarrassing. He's cool, actually, but I don't want to prey on the guy anymore. Oh, well, the future probably doesn't hold good things for me, but if by a miracle I get through this, I'll be impressed.

>not starting with python

If you want to start with something other than Python then you have to accept that it is difficult to learn programming and you just need to endure it.

You're welcome

Alternatively, sign up for a free trial period of Pluralsight. The tutorials there are infinitely better than the shite on YouTube.

>this is the average person that browses Sup Forums - Technology

>being this misinformed

>javacript
please stop fueling bad programming practices into the new generation of developers. You'll regret it and so will your kids in future.

start with python, it's the best to understand the basics.

unless you're watching bucky tutorials

>leeching
yeah no, that's a total failure

That's been my life for 2 years or more now.

>TFW I was too dumb for Python.

My complete lack of mathematical understanding fucks me up.

>>TFW I was too dumb for Python.
>
>My complete lack of mathematical understanding fucks me up.

That can't be normal... small children are able to learn Python. You don't need more math than basic algebra to become an expert in it.

programming is shit anyways
>can't get decent job if no degree
>go get degree
>still can't get a decent job in areas you'd like because no own projects
>no time to write own projects because working on degree or part-time job
>end up being a code monkey for webdev frontend

suicide is the only option it seems

HTML/CSS?

sounds like you just didn't make the cut.

You need motivation, for me it was not wanting to fail school or get fired from my job...

Seriously though, you need some guidance.. of course you will get overwhelmed if you jump straight into the deep end.

Not only that, but you wanted to learn golang (lol, really?) and web development. I've been a software engineer for 6 years and I still can't figure out the fucking web development thing, the whole webdev world is a massive clusterfuck of frameworks, libraries and tools combined with hacks and workarounds. It SUCKS.

Pick a language like C# or Java, they are mature, have decent tools, are structured to make sense to humans (object oriented), and there is a lot of documentations for both.

>IT's easy man, so many jobs lmao
all of the jobs here are either telecom tech support or programming webshit.
How are you supposed to go from programming webshit to programming actual software that's not directly related to that cancer?

I haven't really wasted a lot of time yet, but I gotta work using Angular to pay for my school, and I sure as hell am not staying after it's over

>I've been a software engineer for 6 years and I still can't figure out the fucking web development thing, the whole webdev world is a massive clusterfuck of frameworks, libraries and tools combined with hacks and workarounds. It SUCKS.
This

I have no degree and I have a decent job as a .NET dev

you have a point

>t.pajeet

Me too OP, but was doing CSE.
It was horrible horrible enough as it is and most of teachers were Pajeets and one of em was smug ass hell.
And they expect you to know everything on the dot and you could really tell/feel the competition with the rest of the people in your class.

I don't think I'm cut out for this shit - pretty much bummed out the rest of the year after I left.
Still don't know what to do

Not that guy but i lucked out getting to live the neet life for about 8 years. I basically got on food stamps and just played vidya for 8 years. I had a few part time jobs here and there but they were temp and they ended after only a few weeks.

It sucks being NEET after a while though, Unless your an autist that gets neet bucks, You have no money, Friends and girls waved bye bye to you long ago, After the vidya gets old those walls start to close in on you.

I'm getting a job that will take me traveling soon though so ill meet new people.

>Traveling
Traveling to a diff country or tourism?

I'm a literal retard in math and i can program, The computer is just a big calculator all you have to do is give it the problem and it will give you the answer.

The "have to be good at math to code" meme is exatcly that. a meme.

I am from Canada buddy

why is it such a touchy subject for you? the way you people talk, either American work culture is awful at putting competent people to work, or you're all coddled imbeciles who blame others for their failures as a reflex

No, State to state mostly but i may go to Canada every once in a while.

It's a delivery job.

Ooh sounds pretty neat user, how much per year?

Is delivery part or logistics by any chance?

Hard to say how much a year. I've heard it's generally north of $35k, It's full time.

not him but
>areas you'd like
and I don't know what's it like in either Canada nor USA, but here are some job offers on the frontpage of IT category, most of which are larger companies in the country:

>.NET webshit
>.NET/Java webshit
>javascript
>javascript
>data scientist (what the fuck)
>webshop specialist
>BI dev
>java web dev
>frontend
>frontend
>iOS, PHP, Java dev

And then we have this, a single interesting job that's on there, by Rimac not surprising

rimac-automobili.adopto.eu/job/911

I was the same way OP, I dabbled in python, but couldn't put it all together. Doing this book like a course from start to finish made everything make sense. I really recommend this book if you are trying to teach yourself python and CS basics.

You can easily teach yourself python with this guy's excellent into to CS & python book

You just didn't do what you had to. Now suffer the consequences. No one else's fault but yours.

>it's just not possible if you suffer from depression

bullshit

programming actually helps my depression, because I focus on solving a problem and stop thinking about stupid shit

Also you should probably look into uber or lyft if you have a car and live near a city. Even if you don't live near a city i hear you can move to one and make pretty good money in uber.

oh I'll suffer alright and I'm not letting it end there.
But I also won't not complain because this truly is bullshit and noone deserves to get fucked over like this
Literally everyone you talk to feeds you the same shit
>Oh user you gotta go to school and get a degree if you want a job!
>no jobs without a degree you gotta work hard!
I haven't gotten a single advice to work on my own projects or study on my own, only to get good grades in school (which is fucking useless in college anyways)
People here just force others to go to school so they can "land a job", doesn't matter what kind of a job it is, just so you have one and can slave away your fucking life. What a sad part of the world

regardless of what you're doing, people will only pay you to do useful shit, not fun shit

I would love to ditch C# altogether but that's not feasible

>data scientist (what the fuck)
probably a DBA or something

This isn't true though, Theres tons of college fags out there right now waist deep in debt with no job prospects in sight.

If your going the college route you better get a degree in healthcare because from what i've seen everything else is a waste of time.

Ah I see, good luck with the job user!

Been thinking of doing that, need to get it together doe.
From where I'm from, even a busy suburb is good enough to make money through Uber, but expect cunt passengers as well (my area at least)

And theres the military too, Trump is going to be beefing it up soon so they will need fresh goys to use.

I only recommend that as a last resort though.

>people will only pay you to do useful shit, not fun shit
programming useful shit was the reason I wanted to get into programming
The reason I'm mad is because most of the 'useful shit' requires use of Internet and the web and there isn't A SINGLE THING that 'just works' when it comes to the web. It is an unbelievable clusterfuck and it's nothing but a pain in the ass and time consumption. Right now I'm stuck with no work because no one has the time to configure a web service server so I can call the service methods from Javascript like they want it.

it is true
everyone has been doing it to me, including teachers, parents, grandparents, friends and even friends of all previously mentioned.
by the time I realized that's untrue and I should learn on my own it didn't matter, I've been stuck in college with little time to do other shit. Right now I'm doing my 4th year while working a part-time job as an intern in .NET app department of a company. First tasks were interesting, developing tools other employees would use in either developing or testing, but now I get thrown into this javascript cancer that nobody has worked with before

I should've went into EE

Ah true that, sadly I don't live in the US doe. But maybe I should reconsider that as final resort.

>Healthcare
What sorts of healthcare services user? Like aged care services and the like?

you are absolutely 100% correct

I'm going to spend the rest of my career doing whatever I can to avoid web front end development

I would like to give you more advice but i never went the college route so im not real sure how it works, Maybe they will let you change your major?

All i know is the FED is raising interest rates soon and that may rat fuck you on the loans if you have any. And from what i've heard healthcare is a safe bet, I've heard some jobs like CNA you can just go to community collge and get. Good luck to you bro.

>can't get a decent job because you aren't a low skill indian that works for 1/2 the money a low skill american works for

ftfy

>people are unhappy their jobs arent exactly what they want to do
Hey, welcome to the real world kids!

I hate this depressed worldview people feel good having. Reddit tier. More specifically /r/meirl tier.

Yeah EE is god tier

Oh shut up boomster. What would you know about the real world? You probably went to community college and took a course in basket weaving and got a job as CEO of a fortune 500 company. Now fuq off.

Not quite. I'm 27 years old and quickly realized you need to balance pay with happiness. You very rarely find a job you absolutely love that also pays you well. You need to balance them and if not I hope you enjoy being poor for most of your life.

That's only true for our generation. You need to stay off reddit you kinda come off as an old boomer perhaps without realizing it.

Okay OP a serious response.

Either start any programming class or rent an office to learn programming in. It helps a lot to do it in a space where your mindset is only about programming.

Also golang is lovely, you'll learn to enjoy it fast.

this man is correct. most people will end up doing work they don't like. but that doesn't mean you won't appreciate your job or be happy in life.

>that doesn't mean you won't appreciate your job or be happy in life.
Oh yes it does.

I don't go to reddit. I'm more of a realist and I have come to terms with balance. Finding absolute happiness in a career is rare. I mean it's possible but for the most of us we aren't that fortunate. I understand what you're saying as I'm a part of this generation too. I'm not saying take the highest paying job and be miserable. That's a bad idea because it'll effect your life in negative ways. But if you're able to find a job that you can tolerate that pays you to live comfortably, fucking do it.

I'm not from the USA and I don't have loans
my CE bachelor's degree was free and if I had continued studying in that uni the next 2 years would've been free as well, but I needed the "student's rights"(which let you use the work service that many companies use to hire students since it's costs them much less in bruto, also student food and homes if you need one) so I went to another uni and can pay for it monthly.
Needed the rights to work because I couldn't get locked into a contract that requires X amount of work hours every week when I can't guarantee I'll be able to do it due to my school work. This allows me very flexible work hours

I'll admit that EE was a bit too much for me after a while and I got lost in it(intro EE in 1st semester). If only I had tried to study it some more I probably would've went and gotten a degree in that. who knows, maybe there's still time, I'd rather work on embedded systems than webshit

that wasn't exactly my point, I've worked warehouses and tech support already and of course you can't compare developing apps to those kind of jobs. But the point is that I don't want to get branded to a certain type of technology(.NET frontend crap in this case) for the rest of my life just because I have to work with it to pay for my uni bills right now. I can't even believe how much time I've spent on stack overflow because you something web related doesn't work and you need to fix it quickly so you can continue

Golang is easier to learn than java.

If you can't learn to enjoy it, then programming isn't for you. I love to code and I love the new challenges. The world doesn't need another shitty programmer. We have enough of them.

>"Okay, I'm actually going to learn how to program and do 3D modeling and make my video game. I've had a number of programmer friends tell me its easier to learn when you have a project in mind, so there's that project"
>Proceed to not work too much towards it and continued doodling map areas occasionally
Doesn't help that there are actual reasons preventing me from seriously working on this that won't be worked out until next year, but fuck.
