You forgot the last /. Time to make another thread I guess.

I have 2 Rails applications that are being each tested separetely, using Rspec.

Now I'm developing a functionality on App2 that should change App1's DB, how am I supposed to test this?
App2 is creating a worker on Sidekiq that does this job on background, and I lose all ties to the worker.

I suppose I would need to keep App1 open while testing App2. It doesn't matter to me, but it feels clunky and wrong.

Maybe I should just check format of the sent requests to App1 on App2.
And the format of the received requests on App1. Would still need to catch these requests made by the Sidekiq worker somehow. Also, the worker can take up to 30 seconds to start running...

I need a Sup Forums approved antivirus

I usually use MBAM and Avast, anything I need to know about them that google searches won't tell me, such as scummy tricks or hogging memory?
I'm always really paranoid about my internet condoms and think they might let shit slip through, especially with all these autoexec javascript porn ads Hiro's sticking on the site.
uBlock should keep me safe for the most part but I'm still paranoid.

Internet keeps dropping for about 5 or so seconds every now and then. It's really fucking annoying if it happens during a game, how can I tell if it's on my end?

They pretty much all shit. If MBAM and Avast will not save you from something then nothing will.

Also I don't think it's the router because my PC is connected directly to the modem.

Trace route to server, see where packet are lost.

Ok, what should I be looking for? What should be standing out?

Strange problems with microphone.

All of the sudden when i'm in TS there's something like a 'switch' sound, following long periods of static. Everybody is complaining, of course.

As my Headset was old and began to have a loose cable i thought it might be the cause, so i've ordered a new one.
Didn't solve the problem. I switched between rear/front mic in, didn't work either.
Later i found out that my soundcard has a shared "hybrid" line-in/mic-in slot. So i switched to that with the thought that on-board must be the culprict.
I still have the same exact problem.
I tried the following without success:
>change wall cord
>plug in pc direct, instead of a splitter
>dusted it out
>changed between on-board front/rear and soundcard
>windows recording devices settings (15%, +30 mic boost/100%, 0 mic boost, etc)
>realtek hd audio settings in every combination possible
>installed drivers instead of win7 default
>reinstalled drivers
>reinstalled the OS
>checked for malware
>bought a new headset for 60€

I'm running out on ideas what to do. This is annoying for the others, but even more so for me as i have no clue how to fix this shit.
It started about a month or so ago.

I want to network map two of my remote servers to drive letters natively in windows. The issue is that I only use keys to authenticate (with passwords on top of it), which causes an auth failure in the in-built mapping wizard. The third party program I found, FTPDrive, doesn't support key based auth and everything else looks like trialware with similar limitations.

Is there a piece of software /for Windows/ that will allow me to do this?

Did you try your hardware on another VoIP client such as one that is free as in freedom like mumble? Try capturing all input sound/all sound and play it back as well. Failing success on either of those, you should buy a cheap clip on mic and see if that produces the same result.

Or it could just be that TS is proprietary garbage. :^)

if you are that paranoid just install linux, 100% secure
unplug ethernet cable when booting to windows

recorded it with that crappy win recorder.
It's audible, albeit not as loud becaise the "automatic voice normalization" option in TS is giving it a boost.
If my installs wouldn't have been compromised by some malware infecting my phone, tablet, both win and Linux preventing secure ssl connections i's switch immidietly, but as of now i'm too fucking lazy to spend half a day installing and configuring Linux again. Don't misunderstand me here, i love ALSA, but i'm too lazy to go through evetythong and end up having the same issue over there as well.
Also eouldn't have a problem with WoW, but GTA5 is unplayable on Linux.

So, I was browsing the web when suddenly my wifi stopped working, tried to load the kernel module and reinstall the drivers but nothing worked, cheked the output of lspci and my wifi device wasn't there, am I fucked? not even other bootable installation media recognize my wifi anymore, is it Arch fault somehow? generic hardware failure? what are my options?

Im looking for a program that plays music, finds music on the computer, uses existing folders as playlists, lets me create playlists, and can can be stored on a hard drive and used across multiple computers.

so i can put a ton of music on an external hard drive and use the program to play music on someone else's computer (a Mac).

Technically what's the difference between a casino and a pyramid scheme?

Here's the static if anyone wants to analyze it or smth. No Mic Boost, 3.5mm on Sound Card. You have to tune the volume up by quite a bit to get even near the level it is on TS.

Just installed windows 10 om my parent's computer and holly shit I'm impressed, it's really snappy even though the computer "only" has a Core2Quad and a 5400rpm HDD.
Now I want them to use edge with an ad blocker, what does Sup Forums recommend? I use uMatrix but obviously can't install that in their browser. I made a quick search and uBlock doesn't seem available. Should I install the ol' Adblock Plus or is there something better for Edge?

Doesn't windows natively support Samba (and NFS on Win10)?

If it isn't detected when using lspci it's probably hardware failure.

You can't store a program on a hard drive and have it work on Windows/OSX/Linux.

Can someone please rip the images from here?

mangalifewin.takeshobo.co.jp/rensai/hutarinojikan/

They show up when you click on the yellow/orange bottom. Only 24 pages. I somehow can't save them from that reader.

What do you think of the "Fixed" windows versions made by eXperince?
Like MicroXP and Tiny7?
Or other version like the one that are made to run from USB/DVD as live sessions?

...

Can you show me how to do it instead, then I'll do it myself.

I've never used Samba, or really any Windows Linux middleman software. Will it support a native, fully interactive mount in Windows that only allows for an SSH key based auth scheme? The idea was to not work against my hardening of the auth scheme/access control, and just mount the sftp endpoint natively (like you can in a sane OS).

Honestly don't even know why I want this anymore, it's mainly the principle of the matter now.

You can run a tracker program. Google to find. Free or trial version is enough for you.

Have to say, I've had this problem myself. If you're using wifi, it's probably the same. Old cards or borked drivers tend to suspend your current connection to look for available wifi connections. If it happens every 10-20 seconds like clockwork, that's your issue. There are workarounds, but the easiest is just to use an ethernet cable when gaming.

It's not the router cause I'm plugged directly into the modem, but I'll look into these tracker programs when I get back from work, thanks.

Ah. Then it's more complex. Check out pingplotter, they also have a tutorial/guide on how to use and interpret the software.

Is it possible for malware to run on multiple CPU instruction sets? E.g., infect x86 and ARM systems? Are there any known cases of malware on a phone (iOS, Android, etc.) "spreading" to a PC (Windows, OSX, Linux, etc.)?

On a firmware level use, maybe.
Software level yes.
Hardware doubt it.

Why after getting a new motherboard and cpu (xeon 5460) I first got the video card crashing after few minutes, and after changing it with another I get bsod now? Its updated to the latest bios version and have all the drivers.

what is this phone? brand, model, name etc

Any ideas on how to fix the "Error 651: The modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error" in Windows 7? Btw modem works fine if I connect with another PC.

>Software level yes.
>Hardware doubt it.

I don't follow, what do you mean, exactly?

It's easy to create a malware that infect linux/windows.
But you can't create a malware that will infect actual hardware.

How do I get rid of an old computer?

It's from 2007 so I doubt there's anything salvageable now.

Make a post under the free category of craigslist and put it on the curb

What's the specs?

>It's easy to create a malware that infect linux/windows.
But you can't create a malware that will infect actual hardware.

Right, but the question was about malware spreading between CPU architectures and/or OSes. For example, iPhone (ARM) malware spreading to Windows/OSX/Linux (x86).

samsung galaxy phone has purple line sometimes. not under warranty. who/where and how do i contact about having this repaired/screen replaced?

Oukitel k10000

thanks m8

I've been having trouble finding information about this. I'm trying to use a 65" UHD tv as a second monitor, however when I play videos on it using MPC, usually during motion heavy segments the there's a bit of screen tear. It only last for like half a second, but it looks like a delay where the video player has to catch up. I have a 980 so it should be able to handle smoothly playing video on a tv like this. Is the problem that it's not the main display or the video player?

Can you post pics of the mobo?
>C2D
That's still fine.

If shutdown requires sudo how do desktop environments do it?

I want LFTP to sync files from a remote server automatically but not delete them locally when the remote server removes them. Is that at all possible?

RemixOS or Android X86?
I want to run some android apps, and I don't want to install any VM software.
And would like to either boot from DVD or USB.

Anyone know of some kind of a forum thread where people post their system's power draw from the wall or something similar?
There must be something like this on the forums, I tried googling but no luck.

I've installed Xenial Xerus for test Unity8 but i think i'm in a mobile version or it lacks packets.

What do you tkink Sup Forumsuys ?

What are good places online to learn programming?

I am a bit broke at the moment for school

Help Sup Forums, my utorrent is stuck at "Connecting to peers" at every file, only reinstalling the crap helps.

Either I need a solution or an alternative program. What do?

What's a good torrent client?

Common Sense 2017 Pro Edition

Thanks user.
I'd probably give you 20$ for the mobo, but it's not what I wanted.

CS students of Sup Forums: What do you use to take notes in class?

Looking for a markdown editor that accommodates both fixed-width code blocks and Mathematical formulae (preferably LaTeX)

Old Mobo?

Reinsert sound card?

Here in yurop I can just go to the nearby recycling station and drop them off for free.

Which OS?

Is it at all possible to force Windows to run a program at a certain resolution?

Or preferably, trick the program into thinking it's running on a different resolution?

Why do CPU air coolers tend to max out at like 150W, while GPU air coolers can handle 375W or higher?

Regular text editor + pandoc is not an option?

Win7

Depends.

You can use Catalyst/Crimson Pajeet/nVidiot CPanel to run games on a stretched or a resolution with black bars around the display.

Not sure on programs which are not games.

Appreciate the advice but it's not for vidya unfortunately

IIRC check right click the .exe and find around the tab options.

You should find "Run in 640x480" something, it's along with "Run as Admin" options.

You can use compatibility mode for 640x480 potato resolution.

qBittorrent

Yeah I see that, it's not what I'm after though. Rather than have it change the res of my entire screen, I'm after something that just makes the program 'think' it's running on a certain res display in the hope it fixes the issues I'm having with it

Mainly that it doesn't scale well on HiDPI

AX88-PLUS, same static on onboard and sound card. But not like always, just suddently.

Somebody know what kind of model that laptop is?

Is there any noticeable difference or improvement from using DDR3 2400 RAM over DDR3 1600 RAM? Say, for video editing, transcoding, video games, etc.?

I want to remove the LED function cable from the back of my computer monitor. But it is concealed with difficult to peel-back tape. It is like foil. I tried peeling it back without breaking it but it came apart. Is it electrical tape?

I haven't removed the cable yet, I'm not sure if it's even able to be removed. I'm careful not to yank it out in case it's not meant to come out. Anyone familiar with these cables or the connection?

Is there a known bug where W10 just go fuck himself connection wise when playing games?
I can browse shit at normal speed and ping, but the fucking second i open any kind of online game even pings between machine/router take between 600 and 1500 ms.
tried reinstalling network card drivers, disabling firewall and antivirus to no avail.
Funny thing is that opening the menus in csgo drop the ping almost instantly.
Don't comment of the choice of game, i use that because it's the one that displays the problem more consistently, and matchmaking is fast

It's just the screen, if you are lucky you can maybe make out the fact that it's an ASUS

There is a difference, but you won't likely notice it.

what's the point of those fucking covers? they're ugly and probably even inhibit heat transfer

Basically RAM is so damn fast that almost every other component in your PC is more likely to bottleneck it, especially while doing those.
Just get a beefy GPU and a decent amount of RAM (and vRAM for GPU), video editing and transcoding require quite a bit of it

so they can charge you more for "low profile" RAM that fits under your heatsink.

If I rename a pendrive, will it have the same name on every pc? Right now I don't have another pc to try this on.

Ahh, OK then. I'll just go with 1600 then.
Wouldn't know, I'm just browsing RAM. I have no idea what covers are considered good anyway.
I'm going to try to just get 32 GB then, I'm sick of having only 16 GB.

>pendrive
Yep

What if the pc has a name already taken by another drive which is not mounted?

To elaborate on this issue, I'm running Avidemux on my machine but it looks like pic related. Everything's far too small on the HiDPI screen and it's unusable

I've tried disabling scaling but that doesn't seem to work, changing the res didn't either.

However, what I did find is if I changed the res from 3200x1800 (my current res) to something lower like 1600x900 and then rebooted and launched the program, it looked good, though everything else looks shit.

Obviously this is less than ideal, but it made me think, if I can trick Avidemux into thinking I'm running at 1600x900, but really I'm running on normal res (3200x1800), shouldn't I get the best of both worlds? So is it possible to just make a program think my resolution is different?

Mate, it doesn't care about the name. It isn't sending and receiving data from "128 GB waifu collection", it's sending and receiving data from "/dev/sdc1/" or on windows, "E:\". The name is just put into some config file on the drive itself, and it's only read when it wants to display the name to you.

>what covers are considered good anyway
None, just pick the best ones for RAM size/price ratio from a trusted vendor
Are you doing 2k+ video editing?
16gb should be enough i think if you do 1080p, but i'm not TOO expert on the subject.
Hope you have hardware to back that up

So I found 2 4inch speakers in my loft. They're small 20w 2 way 4ohm speakers and I thought I might build a small two way enclosure for it.

Is this a waste of time? I've already found websites to help me work out all the dimensions and whatnot.

Any tips?

I'm trying to enforce the security of Win by blocking almost everything by default if its source is some pendrive..

Any help here?
Feels kinda wasted given the specs of this PC, i could format with W7 if i needed to, but i have to be sure this is a W10 thing

Kind of a hackjob but you could run a VM with a custom resolution with the sole purpose of running that program and then transfer the files over with a shared folder
>video editing
nevermind, that would require GPU passthrough
Does it really have to be Avidemux?

what are some trusted PSU brands?
I want a PSU for 20-45€ with the following features
>PCIE 8 PIN connector
>PCIE 6 PIN connector
>Enough for FX-8350 CPU (125W NO OC)

1080p. The reason I want 32GB of RAM is mainly because whenever I use Premiere and practice with After Effects it eats RAM up like candy, and I also would like to have space for game mods while running my browser without having noticeable slowdowns.

>modded games running while video editing
>no slowdowns
Are you still building it? what CPU/GPU? because given the things you are trying to do RAM is only maybe 20% of the ordeal

In a few days I will be moving a CPU from an old motherboard to a new one, because I am upgrading my system.

Should I bother cleaning off the thermal paste from my CPU and heatsink? I am just imagining myself accidentally touching it or something and getting it all over my components.

If you said that to begin with, I would've just answered that. Each USB drive has a unique (ish) serial number. It can obviously be cloned, but that doesn't seem like an issue to you. Just filter devices that have a different serial number.

superuser.com/questions/72685/how-do-i-find-the-serial-number-of-a-usb-drive

pls halp.
I've got a samsung hd160jj hard drive that I'm trying to make an image of. I'm trying to connect it to my laptop via usb-to-sata adapter. When I plug the hd into power source I get 4 consecutive buzz sounds and an attempt at spinning, that goes on for a while and then nothing happens. Did I fry it by any chance?
