Did i make a mistake

should i get the i7 6700k i got an i5 but i feel like i shoulda spent the extra $100

Do you do any tasks that benefit from hyperthreading?

If not, no. Now fuck off

Maybe.

why do you feel that way?
Is it because 7 is bigger than 6?
I'm so sorry for your loss

There's no maybe. There's yes or no. Are you just going to play video games? Then stick with an i5. Are you actually going to do something that will benefit from it? If you don't know the answer to that question chances are you don't even what you're going to use it for what is the point of building a new computer?

Should've gotten i7. I have like 20 to 25 fps increase average with this chip.

mostly gaming but i stream and have plays.tv running in background as well as i like to have my gameplay saved for making montage vids so yes i also edit videos as well, but nothing professional really. i would like to learn how to use sony vegas and crap but idunno

Yes, an i7 future proof your computer with more cores. Everything will benefits from it. You can also do virtualization on an i7.

i7 also will suck your dick

OP is a good goy

I want to be able to run the vst Diva in my DAW using 8 notes of polyphony without noticable audio latency and hitting maximum cpu. Would this justify the i7?

>I need i7 for gaming and streaming

KYS dumb consumerist.

...so you can't do "virtualization" on an i5 now?

He didn't say anything like that no was it implied.

Gas yourself, dumb retard.

>falling for the i5 meme

Yeah he did. That poster just misquoted.

You can OC that chip to 4.5 and it will have the same multi threaded score as a stock i7. An OC'd i7 will still always be 30%ish faster in multi threaded stuff. If you were so worried about multi threaded stuff you should have bought a 5820k or something

>not getting disgustingly cheap x99 now that zen got announced

cmon goys

Should've bought an i3

intel cpus newer than core2 are botnets

So? Intel doesn't give a shit about your porn

of course they do. are you fucking even human?

in theory i7 only has the benefit of hyper-threading which shouldn't affect gaming but real world tests in gaming all favor the i7 over the i5 for some reason.

>hyper-threading ... shouldn't affect gaming

thats a retarded conclusion to come to

I don't want Intel knowing about my futa shota fetish...

Hyperthreading will only benefit a game if the game is actually optimized to use all those extra threads.

They don't care as long as it's not zen porn

No. For skylake CPUs, you're wasting your money getting an i7 over an i5 if you don't even know what the extra threads do. If you do know what the extra threads do, then you just need to ask yourself "is an infrequent and moderate performance increase worth 100$?".

For 95% of users, the answer is no. So go roll a d20 and if you get a 20 feel regret, otherwise forget about it.

atleast you can afford it so stop crying faggot

t.amdcuck

>Diva
uhe makes cpu heavy synths and people with i7 even complain about how quick it eats their proccesor

sorry but youre just plain wrong. cores/threads get used outside of the game for things that would normally be relegated to the same cpu the game itself is running on.

Get a 6900K and just browse the net fagwipe

no, its because seven ate nine, and 5 cant eat anything besides his boyfriend cause op is a faggot.

nigger, I did "virtualization" on a core 2 duo from 2007.
Its just a matter of how much "virtualization" you need to do.

I've built desktops with the 6700K and 6600K in the last month, I'd say the 6700K isn't worth the extra money generally as the difference is not noticeable in current games.

well I have seen significant performance gains with hyperthreading on specific games that are poorly coded peices of shit.

The big one was fallout 4 where i noticed that frame crashing in the city was much less severe with much higher minimum FPS when HT was enabled.

I think shitty console ports optimized for 6-8 threads benefit from HT.

90 percent of PC gamers don't need more than a locked i5 and a 1060
