Good sound, but for some reason I find it less comfy than my SHP9500S when wearing them for long periods of time.
Any idea why? Weight? Thinking of returning them
Jeremiah Sanders
I'm pretty sure paid orders were delivered and the product people got was the HE-350.

why is it so cheap?
Chase Martinez
Weight, more clamp, circle pads
Why do you think it is cheap? It's about the same price as HD 598's when on sale, which are its main competitor.
Angel Hill
it's $300 RRP 67% off
Jace Jones
RRP doesn't mean anything. It has never been sold anywhere other than massdrop. It's just some arbitrary price they put up.
Jason Barnes

Oliver Price
so what you're saying is it IS a scam
Easton Johnson
No, It's not a scam. Hifiman could technically recommenced the price be $300, and then just be like "sell them for $100 lol"
You get the headphones described.
The RRP on tons of other shit IRL is bloated. It's nothing new.

I'm not concerned about open or closed, and not very concerned about comfort, I just want the best quality I can get for my low budget. Could possibly go up another $20 or so if I'll get a substantial increase in quality.

Low end can be lacking for some. They don't do well on outputs with high output impedances. 598's are just as good for ~20% cheaper.
Other than that, theyre pretty good.

Where the fuck can I find replacement pads for X2? Are those chink ones from ebay made with nice memory foam just like originals?
Evan Sanchez
I still use my Pulse Elites. It's nice to have that dedicated bass driver but the hinges have a bad habit of cracking and being useless. They'd probably be my main pair if it wasn't for that.
Noah Morris
yeah, both hinges on my pulse's snapped, have sticky tape around them now. still work
the gold headset is my second, previous one snapped just below both hinges from wear&tear

DT 770 [go with 80 ohm variant] literally perfect for your requirements
50 Dollar DACs are kinda hard to come by. Monoprice one is currently reduced to $69, which is the best youre going to get for that price.
I assume you mean a DAC/Amp combo btw a true DAC cant be used without an amp.
David Cook
Will this be a good match for HD600?
Zachary Kelly
Its a DAC you don't match a DAC to a headphone they aim to get as close to transparency as possible

Forgot to mention that at the moment I'm kinda torn between the DT990 and the DT880 from Beyer. The 990 is more open but the 880 is the more neutral of the two so I can't decide what to get. Other recommendations would be nice too.

i use the fidelio/vmoda boom combo.

Jack Williams
The Siberia V2 wasnt all that bad, but it certainly isn't audiophile tier. It is very obviously targeted at gamers and because of that it looks but cringy? immature? not sure what word to use here, but I hope you get the idea. I ended up selling about 2 years ago so I don't really have any memories about the sound.
As for the ATH M40x, the upgrade was a bit overwhelming after the Siberia V2, but it was an upgrade nonetheless. It was more balanced the the Sibera which I definitely liked. I would probably still be using them but because of its plastic construction the tilting joint on the right side wore down...
I'd like some open headphones because I'm in a relatively quiet listening environment in most of the time, and sound leakage won't be an issue either. Also I want as big of a sound stage as I can get.
James Long
are Beyerdynamic Dt990 the best value for money?

Equalizer APO, or some other parametric EQ for non-Windows users. >do i need high quality audio source or normie shit like youtube will do? The differences in lossy coding aren't what you might think. Listen to whatever, the headphones shouldn't stop you.
>DT990 and the DT880 If you could get either, the DT880. They're both open, the DT880 hardly has the "semi-open" quality to it. I don't follow the "soundstage" thing. It's dependent on the gain curve of the headphone, something that is modified by equalization.
Luke Morales
>tfw got the Hi2050's when they were like 35 dollars Seems like they are like 50 and upwards now.
Daniel Jenkins
Look for ISK HP2010 rebranded, though /csg/ says the quality dropped significantly
so its risky
Hunter Cox
I might be retarded but I thought if you have open headphones you will have a more "airy" and "spacious" sound and it will be better at recreate larger soundstages?

I'm eyeing Shure SRH1840 and maybe Beyerdynamic DT1990 PRO. My wife's son recommended some HiFiMAN stuff but I'm not fond of chink shit and they seem to be built like shit. The warranty/support are also very bad according to /hpg/.
Build quality and comfort are paramount. No Sennheiser, 600/650 are way too tight and uncomfortable on my head and have shit build quality.

Just ordered Fidelio x2's, only experience is with using M50x's and was wondering if when using my X2's with my phone and laptop a portable dac/amp such as the FiiO e18 would be worth picking up to improve the sound quality.

Ideally I want a pair of headphones for studying in the library with a decent level of noise cancelling. I've been looking at Sennheiser as heard they are a good brand but I'm basing this off what friends have told me and website reviews.

You can't get any decent ANC headphones for that price other than second hand

Yeah I've slowly learned that fact but sadly I'm really restricted on budget. Isolation is probably what I would want with my limit
Parker Mitchell
Man, I cant decide whether I should get new IEMs or headphones. Both of the ones I have are broken.
I think headphones sound better but I use IEMs more.
How are IEMs in the 300-500usd range? Do they require anything like an amp?
Aiden Harris
I ordered them 3 days ago along with hifime sabre 9018 dac, but I think hifimediy 9023 mini should be good choice as well.
Aiden Cooper
Any thoughts on THE Element from JDS labs? Same company that makes objective2/odac.
Grayson Phillips
OP
I've never heard about IEMs needing an amp but if you look around enough I'm sure you'll find some audiophiles say that powering it with an amp increases the quality tenfold or some stupid shit
also why not both.jpg 300-500 is quite the budget and you should be able to get good headphones & IEMs with that money
Luke Peterson
>Same company that makes objective2/odac. well they didn't make it as far as I know, they simply sell a preassembled one
