Use your iMac doorstep.

install gentoo

first go back to Sup Forums

then open up the case and check the connectors

>G5 iMac
Probably blown capacitors like all the other iMac G5s out there.

So it can be fixed for

Install manjaro

Have you tried installing Gentoo?

Can't seen anything user

What other purpose does this have besides being a door stop?

Why buy old shit if you're not intrested in it or don't know how to fix it?

Well given the fact I've never messed with Apple before thought it might of been fun but have no fucking idea how to diagnose them

You "diagnose" it like any ither system you fucking moron.

Plug in an external display, whether or not it turns on will help you narrow down the problem.

Don't have any adapter so I'm pretty screwed. I've already took the whole thing apart and all the caps seem fine and it chimes when powered on, but there's no display shown.

Why do Sup Forums tards think you can just put any computer parts in any case?

If you have another G5 and a firewire cable you can run recovery mode by linking them together.

No idea why the fuck they designed it that way.

Yeah I dunno either, and this is the first apple product I own so I have nothing else.

Replace the CMOS battery. That's the most common "no display" cause in Macs.
Also, try holding down the power button with all cables, including the power cable, disconnected. Then reconnect and try again.

OK I'm going to try right now I'll keep you guys posted, thanks user.

So I just got the entire thing disassembled, and the caps all look to be in great shape. About to change the cmos and see what happens. Can't upload file because the pic is too large.

>capacitors are proprietary

lol

nvm i misread

Well, at least you've established yourself and a very modern and progressive person.

>>Bought iShit
Found your problem.

>apple shit
For what reason?

>G5
>5$
??

someone gave me one once and I ended up giving it to someone else

apparently the GPU on the mobo goes bad on those and it needs fixed/replaced

back in the day when it was more relevant that it is today, no repair place would fix it because they all claimed to have a bunch and would prefer i bought one

$4

So idiots can transfer all the data to their new mac. Its also convenient for cloning over OS installs between machines.

'le infamous BGA display ribbon cable failure which kills all 17" acrylic macs

you'll probably need a new display-logic-daughterboard thing idk what it's called on macs

>Probably blown capacitors like all the other iMac G5s out there.
Oh my fucking God, no, it's not the capacitors.
