>having something to hide

>giving a shit
if someone wants to listen to hours of me jerking off, they can be my guest.

>people who willingly put microphones in their home so they can be recorded 24/7
and they have no access to the saved files.

>implying you are the who decides if you have something to hide

$100 says you have a smartphone in your house right now

nope. still rocking that 10$ dumbfone

I would say bullshit, but if you're the type of person to be paranoid over an amazon echo recording what you say, you're probably not lying.

Well at least we now know you don't have a woman in the house either

But its not whether you care or not, its why you would pay money to be listened to

Nice argument.

You act like the sole purpose of these things is just so people can listen in.
You're aware that they actually have functionality, right?

I hate this place so much and I truly mean that now, I never felt this way before

you are actually defending having a live microphone in your house, and criticizing someone who objects it?

Welcome to that Brave New World.
We are reaching a point in society where people happily trade freedoms for comfort.
Fucking scary that you are considered "weird" if you don't give in.

Can someone who is familiar with this shit explain what is going on in this video?

youtube.com/watch?v=r5p0gqCIEa8

What was said that triggered it to read off a bunch of porn terms?

>"You want to hear a station for porn detected"

What does that even mean?

if you weren't aware already, there is /r/privacy, /r/hackersec, and /r/netsec on memeit if you've begun to grow tired of this place

I usually come here but when I started seeing dumb shit like that I began to look for alternatives

however, the best place that I know of so far is voat, which is a reddit clone, but it still doesn't have enough exposure to generate sufficient traffic to make having discussions there viable yet

I was really amazed when I went to /r/privacy the first time and I realized that they are now better off than Sup Forums is

It couldn't understand the kid and thought he was asking for this play.spotify.com/track/3HP5qoaYi36Tcs8iljXld5

Ah.

Thanks lad.

>better off

do they have those beanies and baseball caps that function as tinfoil hats? I imagine that's like the ultimate luxury for you guys.

Can't you be recorded whenever by the microphones on your phone, laptop, tablet, headset, etc?

Notice how you attack the person, rather than making any sort of valid point?

Since when is not wanting a fucking live mic in my home a bad thing?
Have you ever read a book before?

It detected biggu dickku, so it played biggu dickku.

yes, but only if you allow it

>faraday cage
>off button
>not having one to begin with
>disconnecting webcam/mic cable from within display panel

Couldn't you theoretically turn off the amazon echo off when you're not using it? I do think it's kind of pointless/retarded, but I just don't see what could be accomplished by listening to what I'm doing. Audio is like the worst medium to spy on people at their houses if that's what they were going to be using it for

You're fine to not want an echo in your house. You're just as guilty of attacking people that are fine with having them though.

Read 1984 and Brave New World

also do research on the Patriot Act, the files snowden released, and watch the youtube video where a Lawyer talks about why you should never talk to the police

at the very least read 1984, its a quick read, and it can be found in .pdf format with a google search

>see my neighbor asleep on the train tracks
>"look out man!"
>you come up
>"how dare you warn him of the danger posed to him!"

I've read all those, the first 2 books are fiction and physically impossible (thought police, etc), the other shit you listed isnt really relevant whatsoever in my country. And ya gl not talking to police ever, the only people who say that have never had to deal with police. When you say "I'm not saying anything without my lawyer" they just charge you with absolutely anything they can think of knowing the charges won't stick, just to waste a year of your life going to court, having a huge list of conditions, etc. When you go to court it's not dealt with immediately, it gets remanded for months and months and months over and over again, the cops know this

>read these fictional books and treat them as fact so you live your whole life in paranoia

>it is impossible to have telescreens recording you every day
>you literally have a microphone sitting in your home and probably a camera pointed at you right now.

You're comparing the threat of imminent death to owning an echo.

>see a guy without tape on his webcam
>"Look out, the NSA is gonna spy on you!!!"
>logical person comes up
>"retard."

this

have you ever been to london? have you seen how there are cameras literally fucking everywhere?

how is this impossible?
how is constance a/v surveillance impossible?

>people who willingly put microphones in their pockets so they can be recorded 24/7

youtube.com/watch?v=zYY3n4YWvFo

FUCKING kill yourself.

I have an echo. its ok i guess
It tells me what time it is, and sets timers for me
tells me the date and shit. I have wifi lightswitches and it controls those

honestly I'm more worried about the wifi lightswitches and power outlet switches, thermostats, security systems, and god knows what they'll come up with next.

>NSA has been confirmed for collecting tons of data on innocent people
>Verizon confirmed the government was listening in on peoples phone calls
>"No way I'm being watched"

>I've read all those, the first 2 books are fiction and physically impossible (thought police, etc)

You have not read the books, everything that happened in 1984 including the "thought police" could be done with 1960s technology (they had cameras and microphones). Was nothing science fiction about the thought police. Nowhere in the books do they ever imply that they could read thoughts or anything beyond the technology at the time he wrote it.

People always brag about reading 1984, but then they blurt out silly shit that outs them.

no, don't try it, half of Sup Forums userbase is self-harming meth smoking transvestites, the only thing in their heads is "get out of my room mom!!!1"

>brag about reading 1984
do people actually do this? That seems like the dumbest thing you could possibly brag about.

My parents got one of these things.

I don't like it.

I mean there is a real possibility of it recording all your shit but more like its just dumb and annoying.

Seems like old people are all ready to buy into "the futureā„¢" for no other reason than they can.

Threre is this guy at work, who fucking uses the voice features of his phone, everyday, for no fucking reason. Its annoying, people are trying to work, you have a computer in front of you, you don't need to do that.

I never said it's not possible or even not happening, I just said there's not a lot that can be done with the information unless I'm murdering people in front of my Webcam or something (and even then it would be unconstitutional and the evidence would get thrown out of court). Youre being recorded when you go basically anywhere in public, which is information that actually can be used against you.

Anything taken from a private webcam, microphone, etc can't be used against you in court if it was used to record you without your knowledge (wire taps/wires are the exception I guess, but there still needs to be a willing and knowing party involved).

I don't really understand the appeal of all the voice shit.
It's faster and easier for me to just manually do whatever it is I'm doing than ask whatever AI to do it for me.

>he unironically thinks that his webcam can't be hacked

1. The light can be turned off while the camera is in operation:
washingtonpost.com/news/the-switch/wp/2013/12/18/research-shows-how-macbook-webcams-can-spy-on-their-users-without-warning/
2. You are not the one who decides if you have something to hide. You can mutter something you think is harmless and it can be used to paint you as some terrorist. Mass media is really good at witch huntng.

My dad bought a google home and I told ot to play the Azumanga Daioh theme and its played some silvagunner-type thing with it screaming DICKS IN MY ASS at the end and I couldnt turn it off because it was so loud

And it's such a short and easy read as well... But I have seen people do this, I guess it gives some social capital and they might assume that it is some serious and heavy piece of literature.

this guy is too dumb, he doesn't think into the future

i will tell you what the future is:

Hi-tech lo-life

One day you receive a call, "hey i noticed you masturbated to your wife's sister yesterday, give me 20k or i send the video to your wife"

If you own a cell phone, congratulations. You willingly carry a GPS locater beacon and listening device that can be remotely activated from anywhere in the world.

I'm sure plenty of people being raided by the KGB thought they weren't doing anything wrong.

>Anything taken from a private webcam, microphone, etc can't be used against you in court if it was used to record you without your knowledge (wire taps/wires are the exception I guess, but there still needs to be a willing and knowing party involved).
lol. You can be arrested for an undetermined amount of time just because someone suspects you of terrorism
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defense_Authorization_Act_for_Fiscal_Year_2012#Controversy_over_indefinite_detention

who would pay 20k for that?

>Court

This is your problem! You believe you are illegal hackers fighting against a tyranical government. You are not. You are fat prey with all sorts of creepy fetishes and full of secrets that could potentially ruin all of your relationships, thats what can be exploited to extort the shit out of you.

What will your dad think if they see the video of you gaping your anus?

What will your boss think if he sees the video of you getting drunk infront of your computer and then masturbating to taylor swift on a saturday?

5k? 1k? How much does your marriage cost?

your wife is going to divorce your for jerking off to her sister? I feel sorry for your incredibly fragile relationship, friend.

Were you the same guy who wrote
>they just charge you with absolutely anything they can think of

?

If not, then this is why its an issue. Imagine if your whole life is recorded, logged, and stored in a database. Today, you aren't a person of interest, but what if you were to do something that caused you to become one?

Now they have your entire life story which they will pick apart, and put back together to fit any narrative they please.

It isn't about
>hurr the government is spying on ME right now

it is about how they shouldn't fucking be doing this to begin with. why is wanting to object to mass surveillance a stance that invites derision now?

>wow user, you don't let cameras into your house?
>wow user, you don't like a live microphone being in your living room 24/7? why the fuck not?
>wow, you still pay in cash?

>You are not. You are fat prey with all sorts of creepy fetishes and full of secrets that could potentially ruin all of your relationships, thats what can be exploited to extort the shit out of you.
This.
Holy fuck. You guys are not criminals, but that doesn't mean you aren't exploitable.

Do you think having a dumb phone protects you from this? Face facts. If someone has it out for you, it's not difficult to track you and listen to everything you say.

>now
you act like this hasn't been a thing for decades. People have made fun of paranoia for a very long time.

>being socially exploitable
CACKLING

someone standing to lose 200k in a divorce from a crazy cunt.
if you're dumb enough to get married i.e cucked in the current year, you're likely dumb enough to fall for this scam.

>Threre is this guy at work, who fucking uses the voice features of his phone, everyday, for no fucking reason.
Have a guy like this too in my circle of friends.
He talks like he has a retarded child, loud, slow and clear. Interrupts conversation to clear a definition via google in said conversation.
And then some other guy in his circle of friends started to always send voice memos and he did too. I really like him but all this is fucking annoying and getting worse every generation of new tech, he's such a new features fanboy without any consideration of how it affects other people.
Making whatsapp calls instead of phone calls because "the sound quality is better". Congratulations for sitting at home with wifi. Goddamnit I'm standing in the middle of nowhere and you can't even hear me talk.

What really bugs me the most: I develop speech recognition, and spying and general faggotry is what it's used for most in the end? What devil has my kin unleashed! We wanted to make Elizas or HALs and instead turned our friends into asshats.

They have, but the user you're talking to has just turned 30 so he's reached that stage in his life where he's paranoid about everything ruining his life, even though it's quite abysmal.

Nigga, if you have a job, you are exploitable.

Have you considered suicide?

Nice one frank, but you'll be reported for using that word. To thank me for my services making the world better, I'll be unexploitable for 6 months. :)

I, for one, welcome our new overlords instead of fragile egofucks like you.

>ITT fags who watched black mirror and are now SUPER CONCERNED
lmao

nice autism there lad, the point is clear, unless you are a saint your whole life is exploitable, as soon as you slip you gotta pay someone to keep his mouth shut

>posted from my botnet smartphone

>unless you are a saint
or are just an average human being and don't intend to wack off to your wife's sister because you can't control yourself?
hmmmm sure is a rarity for people to control themselves these days it seems, including you and your stupid as fuck comments
perhaps you should be exploited if you're doing shit like stealing phones, cheating, hiring hitmen, etc. :)

i use this dumbphone and get laid on the regular. what are you implying or are you just projecting?

Except no one gives a shit about you. You're not a special snowflake, and no one cares enough about you to exploit you for jerking off to ponies getting raped by tentacles, or for fucking yourself with a dragon dildo.

Your phone has a microphone in it
Your laptop likely does too
We are long past the point of no return

He's implying that women tend to have smart phones. So by not having a smart phone in his house, it's likely there's no woman there either.
Connecting dots is hard.

You don't have to be "special"
You just have to have something somebody else wants (or wants to get rid of)

You keep thinking you are an illegal hacker.
Now you think you are a social avenger of the internet, bringing justice to cheaters and hitman hiring people.

No, you are a regular person.

Jack off to someone on facebook?
- Are you related?
- Do you know her?
- Does she have a boyfriend/ brother?
- Do you know him?
- Can he kick the shit out of you for being a degenerate?

Ok, gimme money or i send the vid.

Say something nasty about someone?

Ok, gimme money or i send it to him.

Not to mention if you've ever signed any documents, used any forms of communication that wasn't face to face with someone you knew wasn't carrying a phone/mic, lived anywhere that you didn't build, had any job that wasn't paid in cold cash, used your real name anywhere, etc.

People complaining about privacy now don't actually care about privacy in general or ethics, they just want it to be less obvious.

You need to stop watching black mirror, it's not even a good show 2bh
And send that vid bb, go ahead I hope he knows I called him a bitch.

Tell me user
how many times have you been exploited in your __ years of life?

There are some amounts of privacy I have to give up, but that does not mean I should give it all up.

Wow, you sure showed me lad, i realize now i was being paranoid, NOBODY CARES ABOUT ME!!

Yeah, is not like there's 2.5 million people living in slums and 1.6 incarcerated people in my country who
1- dont have to work
2- are bored as fuck and need to be entertained
3- don't give a shit who i am
4- see everybody as prey cause everybody has cash

None, because I am careful about what information I give people.

You've already given it all up. The only big difference now is you think you can fight the NSA or "SCARY FUTURE" stuff like the echo or whatever the fuck they're called.

AKA delusional paranoia.

Because if you weren't "careful", surely you would have been by now. Right?

identity theft and credit fraud is much easier and more rewarding than exploiting you for your wife's sister videos

how the fuck is letting the IRS know where I work and how much I make the same as allowing myself to be recorded?
Delusional? Mass surveillance is solidly confirmed. You're the one deluding yourself if you deny it.

People here seem to think that just because it is happening, it means we should let it continue. What the fuck is wrong with you people?
Why are you so quick to rollover?

>black mirror
>not present day, present time

>And send that vid bb, go ahead I hope he knows I called him a bitch.

Wow man, you are a badass who is too cool to care

You are full of shit, your whole life is built out of lies and controlled disclosure of information and you know it, thats why people say "drop all my spaghetti" or "reveal my powerlevel", you are well aware of the walls between your full you and the you you can portray to specific people in specific social interactions

it is also illegal and it matters to more people than just you

>the subway now requires a pay-card to get on
>mfw every time I take the subway it is logged into a database

>physically impossible (thought police, etc)
pastebin.com/3ycsJDkn

Ooo they're trying

You are just as exploitable before being recorded you fucking retard. So yes, keep screaming into the abyss that all this new tech is SO SCURRY meanwhile NSA keeps updating their profile on your dumbass.

I mean anytime you're in public you're logged into a database. There are so many security cameras. Pass by any stores? There you are.
It's pretty easy to connect the dots. Which is why government bodies work so hard to get people integrated into society. They hate it when complete nobodies who were pretty much locked away (as much as possible) suddenly turn up and cause havok.

By any chance are you ESL? Or is comprehending statements just very difficult for someone of your age?

Didn't the machine in his house read his intentions or something like that?

>Repeat after me: it's happening so we should let it happen. Don't try to resist

No.
The were connected to people watching him.

>pass by store
>face is in a video recording that will probably never be watched

>take subway
>time and location is logged forever, and can be easily accessed at any time in the future with a simple database query

see, if you really thought i didn't comprehend your statement you would've pointed me to your post so i can try again, you are just flinging shit at me

>I mean anytime you're in public you're logged into a database. There are so many security cameras
Also street cams, can read strange/patterned movement

CIA nigger psych-ops poster detected

>you have already lost some privacy, give the rest up voluntarily
>there is no hope

So all the paranoid fucks in here, why do you have internet access? Are you not worried about the gubbermint or the cyber hakkors tracing everything you type? Why even have a computer at all? If you need to write something down, pen and paper or type writers are much better for it.
You have friends? what in the fuck are you thinking, what if one of those friends is just trying to get close to you so they can fuck you over?
You mean you go in public too?? You know there are cameras everywhere, right?
Go innawoods, build a cabin, live off the land, and never interact with other people. You'll be better off.

go tell that to the banks, why do they encrypt their shit?

You can resist all you want, as I stated, keep screaming into the abyss. :)

It's not hard to store video, especially all the super low qual security camera footage.
Additionally, that was just one small example. Then there's the fact that smartphones are everywhere, and so ~triangulating~ your position in any given time isn't that difficult. Using mics on smartphones to find out what you're doing isn't difficult either.
And then there is all the mandatory tracking that institutions utilize. Banks, phone companies, internet companies. Or applications and their forms of tracking and selling of data.

It's fascinating how stating this causes people to be struck with so much paranoia though.

user, you know that everything you're typing in this very thread is being recorded and archived, right? The government already knows just from you being here, typing what you're typing, that you're on to them, and they're going to try that much harder to track down everything you do.

Your phone already does this.

>keep screaming into the abyss. :)

(you)
