Google Pixel thoughts

Would you recommend getting the Google Pixel XL for what it offers and the price of it?

It's a good phone. However, it is overpriced for what it is and no expandable storage sucks.

t. Pixel XL owner.

Would you recommend it over every other phone right now if you weren't concerned about expandable storage?

bump

I got the lg v20 over the pixel xL for the storage, removable back, audio quality and camera
Its got 7.0 already too

>buying a 5.5 inch screen and not a 5.7

If you live in Canada you can get the Pixel for $300 off right now which puts it at $600 CAD or $450 USD. Completely worth it at that price.

I think for the price it isn't worth it especially without more features. The fact that it comes with stock android though is nice but the Moto phones do this too. The LG V20 is a very nice phone though for around that price range and would make more sense for the price. That or go with a Samsung phone or Moto Z.

Moto Z is garbage. The Moto Z Play is pretty much the same phone but thicker, much larger battery, and slightly less powerful processor for actual usage.

There's no reason to get the Z over the Z Play.

If you don't care about price I would still go with the Pixel or Pixel XL though.

The only better Android phones are the S7 Edge and V20 if you're not worried about the possibly of LG BootLoop™ technology kicking in after a year.

>iPhone design rip-off
>HUGE bezels
>does nothing an Android phone half it's price can't do

Why would anyone buy one of these?

It has the best smartphone camera out right now. I would only recommend for that, since you can just buy other phones that do the same usual shit for less.

There is no need for a $800 phone unless you have a very specific reason.

>best smartphone camera
Aids hdr, random glitches, shitty video stabilization. Unfortunately iToddlers still have the best cam on the market.

I prefer to buy midrange phones around $300 so I can upgrade more frequently and sell my old phone without losing much value.

There's just too much cool new shit coming out every year for me to justify buying a premium phone and then sticking with it for 2-3+ years.

Basically I want a hot slut that I can bang for a year until her personality and looks get old and I can move on to the next piece of ass. I want a slampig, not a wife.

I guess that means you always stick with the 7s instead of the 10s

Bought a Pixel two weeks ago. Sluggish UI from the start with random framerate lags using off-the-shelf software. Twice in the first week I was in the middle of a call and the phone just froze up. Couldn't use the UI at all. Had to do a hard reset. This is on stock hardware/software.

Returned that shit and went back to my old Nexus. Can't believe Google fucked this up so badly.

Been using the Pixel XL since Nov., haven't had a single issue with it

Best piece of hardware and software I ever bought. I got mine on project Fi but Whorizon is selling em for a fucking dollar a month on a two year contract

jesus, i'd buy one to replace my nexus 6p in the US if I could get it for that price.

Enjoy the bootloops, screen yellowing, and cracked camera glass.

>no expandable storage
Into the trash it goes.

I ordered the Pixel XL from Google but it was going to take 3 weeks to arrive and I found the non-XL on newegg and got it next day.

I can say that the smaller one feels very ``buttery'' as Google would call it. It's really nice to use.

Also I do not regret getting the smaller one. Even though the screen is only 1080p, coming from my LG G4 (which got bootlooped :3 ) the smaller size is actually kind of a relief because you can reach all the screen more easily without adjusting it in your hand.

How do you feel about these included live wallpapers? They are really subtle and sometimes freak my brain out.

>I guess that means you always stick with the 7s instead of the 10s

Sure, but this year's 7/10s are better phones than 2014's 10/10s, in processing power and features.

The live wallpapers are fantastic I like the Earth One personally because it lets me know what time it is relatively without actually having to look at the clock. The Earth photo ones are pretty cool too

How the fuck are you retards filling up 128GB of shit on a damn phone?

Where? How? With who?

Moto z play also had headphone Jack. Moto z does not

Nope

I own the pixel XL 128gb version or whatever. It's great. Good screen, lots of storage, doesn't come with a billion shit tier apps installed like any other Android device. It's a tad overpriced but it's a great device.

Koodo Mobile.

$300 off Pixel when you buy it on tab.

You have to sign up for a plan but it only starts getting charged when you receive your shipping confirmation (not order confirmation) and you'll only be charged for the 2-3 days it takes before you receive your phone (around $8).

Once you receive the phone you call in, cancel it, pay the remaining $500 that's on the tab and enjoy your discounted phone.

All Pixels are unlocked permanently so you don't have to worry about it being locked to Koodo either.

They also have iPhones on sale, the LG G5 for $360 and the Moto Z Play for $360.

If the CSR you call tells you the discount will be revoked when you cancel ignore them and demand to be transferred to the cancellation department. The discount isn't part of the tab and can't legally be taken back. They do sales like this every December and no one has ever had the credit revoked.

For phones that aren't unlocked, this only works if you can get early seasonal hold to work or you end up paying for 90 days of service.

It's hit or miss with the iPhones. Seems like a good deal for the Pixel though.

Hmm cool, thanks. I was sort of looking at the moto z play with koodo, but that's an interesting thought. I'm pretty happy with my bring your own phone plan with Virgin...

>For phones that aren't unlocked, this only works if you can get early seasonal hold to work or you end up paying for 90 days of service.

Not necessarily. You can still do the exact same thing I listed above but instead of paying the $50 to have Koodo unlock it (Why the fuck would you do it that way anyways?) you buy an unlock code off eBay or any other phone unlocking service for $3-10 depending on the phone.

>I'm pretty happy with my bring your own phone plan with Virgin

There's no reason you can't keep your current plan. You only have to sign up for the discount. You can cancel immediately after you've received your phone.

It has a barometer.

Some people use their phone for photos, music, or porn. I personally don't, but it's not uncommon.

If you need a phone with the best camera possible camera than yes.

For people that do a lot of trips. Aren't home all day shitposting online or don't have access to wifi if they're taking a train or in a spotty area, having local storage is a blessing. Not to mention people who do a lot of flashing and dev work

got the lg v20 for 399 CAD and 519 over 2 years ayy
45/month (40 for a year)6gb lte plan no overage charges just gimped

You can't do that with the iPhone. Unlocking iPhones is really hard, its usually $70 for an unlock attempt and it doesn't even work all the time.

Freedom Mobile?

I was going to swap to the $55 US roaming plan they had before Public Mobile came out with their 4GB/month +unlimited country talk/international text plan for $38.

Glad I didn't because Freedom hasn't expanded to where I'm being moved for work next month.

Didn't know it was so expensive. I thought it was just buy a cheap code and enter it like literally every other phone. What a pain in the ass.

>Unlocking iPhones is really hard

Only if you are a retard and buy it from your mobile carrier. Buy it from Apple direct and it comes unlocked.

>Freedom Mobile?
yea
their 4g data sucks fat fucking cock but this LTE is actually comparable to the big companies
they've stepped up their game

>le expandable strorage meme

Fucking useless feature given the abysmal r/w speeds for microSD

Just get an iphone 7
