Intel unveils its 7th-gen CPUs for desktops and performance laptops

engadget.com/2017/01/03/intel-7th-gen-desktop-cpu/?sr_source=Facebook

Seems like a Jewish game to me to steal some more shekels.

I don't see how this is any better than Skylake (which is what I have).

>0.5% IPC gains

calling it now

It's literally overclocked Skylake with irrelevant features.

muh netflix 4k on pc

>it might become more important as 360-degree video takes off
So, never?

Its a fucking skylake refresh, it was always going to be a skylake refresh, nobody ever stated or implied otherwise. If you were expecting an upgrade, you're clinically retarded.

Anand already benchmarked it, Kaby is completely worthless aside from being the only chip that lets you play Netflix 4k, because jews

Every fucking year

less, it's just and OC, it actually performs worse clock to clock

I've still got a 4790k and I cannot see myself upgrading whatsoever in the future. Literally what's the point?

There isn't one, it's absolutely nothing to sneeze at

AYYYYMD IS FINISHED AND BANKRUPT

but muh 4k netflix meme

10nm next year might be neat but shit is gonna stagnate for a while

>?sr_source=Facebook
get out

Didn't notice that.
Mods! Delete this sick filth

>No competition from your sole competitor for literally a decade
>WHY ISNT THE NEW CHIP ANY BETTER WAAAH
What possible incentive could they have aside from energy savings at this point?

This

Intel's 10nm will be ready in 2018

which is next year

were in 2k17 now

3D rendered content in JavaScript becomes standard to every website.

That line blew me away.

Who the fuck needs that shit?

Intel is lazy and greedy like nVidia.

AMD needs to take their head out of their ass and innovate.

>the only chip that lets you play Netflix 4k

A TV with a shitty ARM chip can play a shitty movie at 4k on Netflix.

10nm is actually rolling out sometime this year, probably into the second half. The caveat? Its low power SKUs. 5w dual core shit chips.
10nm mainstream desktop parts are likely 2019, in 2018 we will get Coffee Lake which is still very much the same 14nm process that intel has been using since late 2014.

I concur

please delete yourself OP

I copied the link from another site you fuckhead.

I don't have a Jewbook account. It's just a referer.

>AMD needs to take their head out of their ass and innovate.
With what revenue?

The pennies that they get from fools that bought their products.

>10nm is actually rolling out sometime this year, probably into the second half.

Bullshit.

0,0% ipc gains.
clock for clock they're exactly the same.
the 3 main points that I'm assuming will be featured on most reviews:
5ghz almost guaranteed
no ipc improvements at all
heat (as in it runs hotter than skylake - because of the TIM debacle (con) and the fact that it's perfectly capable of achieving pretty high clocks (pro)).

and honorable mentions for more (and better or simply updated) peripheral connections.

Any idiot thinking of getting the desktop version should kill themselves.

Get a 6700k when it goes on sale and OC it to 4.5Ghz and get a nice all in one cooler like the H80i and you're set.

kaby lake has been so underwhelming that every reviwer out there is focusing more the new motherboards than the new cpu sku's.

dat msi titanium really got me going.

When we go to 10nm everyone has to dump their motherboards.

Fuck you Intel.

that intel optane thingy, is it going to require new drives and controllers compatible with it or is it plug and play backward compatible?

Just get an SSD my nigga.

And an HDD to store dumb shit like 4k porn.

Not even. This is literally a OC'd rebrand.

>tfw 6 year old sandy bridge chips are still holding up really well

I was planning on getting a 6700k,should I just get a 7700k for the better mobo and higher overclocks?

Actually, you should wait for zen.

Depends entirely on how much you'd save by going with a 6700k. But 6700k is also compatible with the Z270 chipset, you don't need a 7700k if you want a better motherboard.
If they cost around the same then sure, why not grab a 7700k. Just keep in mind it's not a very interesting CPU aside from its hardware video en-/decoding features, and how useful that is depends on how supported it'll be by software. At the same clock speeds, 6700k and 7700k perform exactly the same. If you're doing a lot of very CPU intensive work where you'll actually benefit from being able to get a higher overclock, then 7700k might be good for you.
But at that point, chances are you should be looking at the X99 platform.

Still rocking an Ivy Bridge in my desktop. As long as it holds out until the 10nm chips hit the market, I'll be very happy to do a motherboard/cpu/ram refresh at that point.

Danke schön user

>tfw first gen laptop i5 2.5ghz chugging along nicely.
>entire laptop cost me 88 bucks.

>H80i
>nice
What are you, poor ?
Too poor to afford an AIO with a real radiator ?

Sandy: The last good value CPU
Haswell if you want to ride the very edge of the diminishing returns.

At least Ivy had the PCI upgrade.
What is even the point here?

Good upgrade for C2D owner

Don't worry user, it's just Skylake with some minor iGPU and clock improvements. But that won't stop people from buying them.

I'm on Ivy Bridge, only problem i have is decoding VP9 and H.265, the fans go full blast.
Been using h264ify to use Youtube properly.

Definitely going to upgrade to Kaby Lake.

Wait a minute... It's just an overclocked Skylake...

Nice try Jews! Won't fool me this time.

well, any GPU can do that
it's just that intel installed netflix HARDWARE DRM inside it's CPU and worked with MS to allow edge full use of it, which in it's own asks for anti trust action I would say
fucking USA and your cartel lobbying bullshit, you have to spoil thing for the rest of the world

why don't you stop being retarded and use GPU for decoding videos?

I'm using a laptop with an iGPU.

you have nothing to upgrade then

True, shouldn't of used the word "upgrade".

What? NO! You fukken idiot. IPC should be exactly the same since it's the exact same architecture. Where the FUCK did you think an increase in IPC was magically coming from?!?!

Go buy a Zen if you want """innovation''''''

>tfw have i5-2500k
>still going strong
im never upgrading guys

>still going strong
how are you enjoying those FPS on GTA V

without DDR4 4k mhz RAM as well

Dude, I have a i5-2400 and even that CPU has no problem with GTA V.

lol

You know that the human eyes can't see more than 24 FPS?

You can throw every stat you can find at me but all I have to do is launch GTA V and enjoy.

> Implying these ''''benchmarks"" only purpose isn't to make you feel uncertain about your hardware.

Meh, my cut off point is between 40 and 45 or something like that.

I never notice GTA V going below this.

I can see the 60fps vs 30, I can't see the difference between 60 and 144 until 120ish

I don't like my shit faster than 60fps tbqh

>Playing video games
How you enjoying being a NEET?

Second, Grand Theft Auto V is fantastically optimized. Look at the minimum requirements.

Its only requirement is four or more cores. A Core 2 Quad will work just fine with it. At most, the hardcore-est of games require four cores. Anything more and it's the programmers' fault for being a retard.

All of them are over 60 fps. Most monitors clock at 60 so what's the point besides shiny numbers and wasting money?
You are probably memeing though.
