HP is good if you don get the pavillion shit. ASUS is good in general. MSI is for edgy gaymers. Lenovo is nice of you like viruses and rootkits delivered with your computer. I don't know dell, but they seem allright. Apple is a no-go if you want actual performance for you shekels.
And alienware shouldn't even be noticed.
But start by wanting to put at least 1000 in it, or about 600-700 for second hand. If you want a laptop that is generally capable for a few years.

New HPi Zbooks are mostly buggy as shit tho.

brand doesn't matter just make sure those are the specs. don't waste your money on dual core i5's or i7's and anything more than the 1050 Ti is gonna cost arm and leg. don't bother with older laptops with the 960m and especially not the 950m or 940m.
ultra poorfag option: latest gen amd A10 on a laptop that can into dual channel ram i.e. not HP. the concept of 'non user replacable ram' when there is actually an unused ram slot is absofuckinglutely unacceptable.
